Cannot Connect to a 5.0GHz Router

This product is pretty dismal. It shows as connected on the wifi icons on the front, but checking on the router side of the equation I cannot see any device with the same MAC connected. Chasing through the maze of outdated tech support information I'm finding that this device is only 2.4GHz and while my router supports "Smart Dual Band" this scanner cannot. Furthermore the scanner cannot support a hardwired installation, meaning that while I can connect the scanner to my laptop for configuration it does not appear that the scanner can be used permanently in that manner. The work-around is to reconfigure my wireless router and lose a bunch of features I use daily to get this scanner to work... great trade-off. Buy something with a wire, or atleast something that supports working on a wire, because chances are this thing is going to be as much of a headache for you as it was for me.

Awesome Photo Scanner

Purchased because my spouse wanted to send all our photos out to a commercial scanning vendor. I saved hundreds of dollars by buying this scanner and doing it at our leisure. Plus can now loan the scanner to friends and family so they can do the same. Easy setup and operation.

Pricey But a Really Good Photo Scanner

I am very pleased with the way this product functions in almost every way except it has a problem staying connected to my wifi network. Every time I start a scan it asks what to connect to ( even though there is only one choice and it knows what it is....) This is a remarkably fast photo scanning device. It does a much better job than my previous scanners - so much so that I am rescanning ALL of my thousands of photos! The other issue is what do you do with the Terabytes of info that get generated? I'll accept that challenge.

Basic Scanner, high price

I was tasked with testing this scanner. I personally own a multi-printer that is not an Epson. Due to problems with Epson products in the past I have switched to another brand. I scanned a photo and a post card with the FastFoto and my personal printer. I will include the images.** Here are the pro and cons of the FastFoto FF-680W Wireless High-speed Photo and Document Scanning System. As I stated this is my personal opinion after using the product several times. Con-product was difficult to set up. The instructions are not clear and it was very difficult trying to get it to scan via the scanner buttons. Using the program on the PC was the best(only) way. Pro- the pictures are clear and vivid in color. Con-Product has constant updates often requiring your PC to restart. Con- Can only scan one item at a time. Con-Product is small but very heavy. Unnecessarily so in my opinion. Con- it does not print photos. I know it is a scanner, but every other scanner I have had including a photo scanner, printed as well. Con- the price! My multi-printer may have a bit less clarity and color but I only paid $40 for it and it prints very nice photos. Very lightweight too. Pro/Con-It does print dual-sided. As does most printers/scanners. So I must conclude this item has a niche customer base. If you have the time to print a photo or document one at at time and just want it to look nice and pretty plus have some serious cash to throw at this-this is for you. If you are like me and have to budget carefully, would like a cost efficient item that can print, and don’t want to have a scanner heavy as a brick I suggest you look elsewhere. “This is a review for the Epson FastFoto FF-680W Wireless High-speed Photo and Document Scanner System that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.” **Note- I tried to upload the photo and postcard for comparison, but the site is acting up. It is made by Epson after all.

NOT a good photo scanner

Bought this unit Feb 2, 2025, it is fast and convenient BUT it is advertised as a photo scanner and it does that BUT the quality of the scan is very poor. I tried adjusting setting but could not get it to do a good job. Wish I had my $659.00 dollar back.

Unable to connect to WIFI

Well, setup is not easy! I have the latest router from Comcast Xfinity and because it does not have a WPA button, I'm screwed. Back to the old USB I guess. I'd expect after paying $600 for this darned thing that it would have the latest and greatest technology. Apparently not.

The best scanner

This is by far the best scanner I have ever used! It’s very simple to set up and start using as well as self explanatory. I have used this to scan pictures on the computer for a project and the pictures come out clear and good looking. It’s definitely easier to use then other scanners I have used in the past. Will definitely recommend to friends and family. What I needed to get the job done

With thousands of old prints, I needed a tool to save them. The scanner is fast and offers many options. My only negative is that in the FastFoto software there is no utility to descreen old mat prints, of which I have many. I would hope that in a future release of the software that this issue is resolved.

Epson FF-680W Breakthrough Scanner

The scanner has been a great tool for digitizing our years of family photos stored in dusty photo albums. It’s amazing to watch it pump though a stack of photos even at high resolution. Our struggle has been finding a good cloud app with the needed folder management system to display and share them with family and friends. I think one software change would help me significantly. The software does a good job incrementally identifying each photo file name as it’s scanned. However most Cloud apps sort photos by origination date and the Epson software applies the same date and time to every photo. Unfortunately when you scan 100 photos in the order you want them displayed the Cloud software randomly displays the images. This is frustrating and forces you to spend hours manually reordering them afterward. I could use an option that allowed the software to incrementally add one minute to each photo so that they’ll remain in the sequence they’re scanned.

Innovative & Very Impressive !!

Right out of the box this product has easy to follow instructions on the "start here" paper to download and install drivers, also helpful instructions on how to connect to the wireless network, which my laptop easily found and paired with by using the wi-fi connect button located on the scanner. A usb cord is provided just in case there is no wi-fi, or user preference. I am amazed by the speed the scanner takes to scan photos, documents and the resolution levels which range from 300 dpi (takes 1 sec.), 600 dpi (takes 3 sec) and 1200 dpi (takes 10 sec). This Wireless High-speed Scanning System has a setting for panoramic and instant photos, which are great for Polaroids, and can scan up to 36 photos at a time depending on size and thickness. The scanner feed functioned properly every time and had no jam or scanning feed issues. I save receipts and lots of old photos that I am wanting to save digitally onto google Onedrive and can be uploaded to Dropbox as well as enhance when scanning, so this Epson FastFoto Scanner System is perfect and ideal for my needs! The provided carrier sheet included is best when used for protecting wrinkled, fragile, old and valuable pictures & documents. I like that Epson included a downloadable pdf format user manual that can be printed too (120 pages long) to get more information and details of Epson FastFoto scanner and advanced settings. Although I miss having physical installation cd discs, I think it's easier having the link to download everything the scanner needs and can set itself up.Despite having the auto rotation checked in advanced settings, when editing scanned pictures, I still had to click the rotate twice to get pictures positioned upright, but other than that I love how much better looking, brighter with higher clarity and image quality resulting from every scan!
