The imitation, also by McCormick in my case, has been rated as being indistinguishable from the pure vanilla and it costs a tenth of what the real vanilla costs. So this is my big splurge for the holiday season.

McCormick Pure Vanilla Extract is an excellent product for the home kitchen. Sam's Club offers the 12 oz bottle at a fair price. I appreciate the option for ship to my rural home!.
