Not made to last

It quit working after 2 snows! I don’t write a lot of reviews but felt I needed to, to warn people. The first snow was about 2 inches and up close to the house the sun had started to warm the cement so the snow joe ended up just more of pushing the snow. Away from the house the snow joe did a nice job of throwing the snow. The second snow, I started to tackle the snow as it was coming down so at about 2 inches I ran the snow joe till the battery died. I did from the house to the street and across the yard and then started on the driveway. It’s not a long drive way but it is 3 cars width…I got about 3/4 done before the batter died. I charged the battery then did the backyard. About two hours later I went out front again to do the front yard. The snow joe said it handles up to 6 inches but While it might, I doubt it would constantly. The wind was blowing and the snow was drifting so if it was close to that depth, I tried to do the snow in layers instead of taxing the snow joe. I was working on the driveway again when it was acting if the battery was dying meaning that either my fingers were slipping off the buttons or just that I had to re-push the buttons to to work the snow joe till the battery had died. I did smell a little electrical smell like the motor might have burned out. The next morning I tried the snow joe and it wouldn’t turn or it would just for a second and I’d have to resent the buttons and try again but again it wouldn’t constantly run. I bought this cause I had some heart issues and while I like the workout of shoveling snow I thought it would be better to have this for light snows. Last year I bought a big toro to replace an aging 7hp snow blower. I didn’t have to rely on the snow joe for all snows, just wanted it for the 1 or 2 inch ones. I had bought a power washer several year ago from sams and used it once or twice the first summer and the next summer it wouldn’t work so this time I was glad that I was able to get my hundred dollars back. Bottom line, this might be fine for a simple sidewalk with only an inch or two of dry and not wet snow but it won’t handle it if you drain the battery each time, it jus won’t last.

For people with some type of issue. Get This!

I have severe bring and standing issues. I love this little gadget. It works! Don't expect it to move mountains all at once but it will if you shave it down. I worked on a little drift taller then the Snow joe, I just started at the side and only did 3-4 inches at a time. No problem. I would be out using it if I didn't need to catch my breath. I wish I could have gotten a larger one but its better then nothing. Ive been raving to everyone. I know of 2 people who went to but it & it was sold out. I'd even recommend the Sun Joe combo set trimmer, weedwacker, chainsaw as well. I hope they come out with something to move equipment around easier around the yard. I hope the Snow Joe lasts awhile. I really like it.

better than expected

I bought this on a Black Friday special for $79. It worked beautifully. I used it for at least 50 minutes and the battery was still going. I did my 110’ driveway that had 2-3” of snow. I would never use it for that big of a driveway but I wanted to test it. It did a great job. Little hard to push and with no way to change the direction of snow it will blow in your face if there is any wind at all. Not as great at the bottom of course where it was slushy from the plow but that was expected. Great for doing small paths and for the snow I pull off my car. I’m sure with more than 3” it would be more difficult.

Works Great

Love the tool, works great! The only reason I only gave 3 stars is because the auger is plastic and breaks easy. The first time I used it, it cracked. Then each time after that until I have virtually no auger left! I can understand it not being under warranty but at least make it available then. We've had an unusually heavy snow fall this winter and I can't even use it. I have a bad back, torn rotator cuff and high BP, for the little I was able to use it, it really helped. Very disappointed!
