great tires

these are the best tires I ever purchased. Great in snow, rain and dry pavement. Very quiet, smooth rideing. I hope I can put enough miles on them before they age and crack on exterior. Only wish they were not as long on mileage, as I don't drive much, under the yearly normal.  Keep up the great work

Nice tires until they deflated

I like the performance of these tires and they generally feel and handle well. They were well reviewed for all weather, and they performed well in the rain in the Rockies in the summer. I used them for part of the winter,  but my snow tires--old as they are--are still a better winter tire. The biggest reason I did not use them in the winter, though, was that they acted very unreliably on a long trip. Two tires deflated during a 500 mile trip. The rear driver's side deflated about 300 miles into the trip. There was nothing actually wrong with the tire--no punctures, not cracks--and once filled with air again, the tire performed for the rest of the trip. On the way home, again about 300 miles into the trip (or about 500 miles farther than the first deflation) another tire deflated (this time, the front passenger's side tire). Neither time did the deflation feel noticeable to the driver--different drivers both drove on the deflated tire for longer than ideal without realizing it until stopping. Again, once re-inflated the tire performed alright, though the rubber has been worn a bit by riding low. Since the incident, I took the tires back to the tire shop (Sears auto) where they were installed to be checked over. They said nothing was wrong with the tires beyond the new sidewall wear: no punctures, no problems with the tread, not apparent problems with the valve. Sears told me the warranty was only good on the tread,  and they wouldn't replace them, despite the tire failure happening within 6 months of buying the tires. I'm running on these tires now, because the snows needed to come off, and they make me nervous, to be honest. I have not had any rapid deflations, but I have not driven more than about 100 miles at a time on these. One of the tires that deflated does seem to lose air a little more quickly than it should. I'd just like to know what the problem is, since the auto center refused to speculate and I have no idea if these tires are really safe.

Quiet, high quality Tire

I bought these tires last August, replacing a set of Michelin's on my Civic.   They have decent traction for Minnesota winters, but of course that will gradually decrease as they wear down.   I find them to be very quiet on the roads.  Cornering and breaking for normal driving seems just fine, but I have not stressed them to any degree yet.   Needless to say I was quite pleasantly surprised when I found out that the RT43's are rated at the top for this class of tire on Consumer Reports.

Great tire

I bought these tires about ten thousand miles ago we went on a 2000 Mile Road Trip 2 days after purchasing. I noticed a big difference in noise right away. I previously had Kumho tires and they were noisier. I live in the snow belt in Northeast Ohio and I didn't have a single problem with snow traction this year. I would definitely recommend these tires to anyone.

Quite ride?

My wife drives a Jeep Patriot that were never known for a quite. There was always constant competition between the CVT transmission, the engine and the road noise fro the tires. The new tires minimized the road noise so now I can concentrate on the sound of the CVT which sound like a riding mower for 90,000 miles.. Great tire value

Smooth riding tires

This is my first set of Altimax RT43s. My last two sets were Kuhmo Ecsta LX Platinums. I had to change them about 15k miles early because the tread was separating. I'll never get those again.  I haven't had the chance to test these tires on wet pavement, but they are great on dry pavement. I know that doesn't say a whole lot but it's all I can offer right now.  The RT43 tires really seem to ride smooth and the tread pattern looks good. I'm sure I'll be buying these tires again for my other cars.

Needed only two, ended up buying 4

I was in a pinch. Had a road trip planned to Quebec City from MA in March 2017. Blew out a tire 4 days before trip. Rule of thumb is that you buy a pair regardless, but the tire I blew out was one of the better ones and the other three were getting low on tread-ware. Salesman recommended these highly for my 2013 Altima and needless to say I bought all 4 and I am very happy. It snowed up in Quebec which is something I was dreading with new tires but they were perfect in the snow.  My wifes car, 2011 Nissan Juke needed tires as well and we bought another 4 for her car.  i also want to say how helpful and considerate the salesman was regarding quality and price for the tires.

Very good, almost great

I have had these tires on a 2012 Honda Civic Hybrid for several months and am mostly pleased with them. Pro: They handle well and stop excellently, even on a wet surface. Con: My fuel efficiency went down about 9 percent after these tires were installed, and they are a bit noisier than I had expected.

Rides like a more expensive tire

I've driven my Altimax RT43 tires for over 6,000 miles on an old 2004 Honda Civic. These are outstanding tires. They are extremely quiet tires and add little to no noise to the road. On a good road, you won't hear these tires. They are a solid, comfortable ride and handle great on the road, on curves and in turns. On the highway, they ride smooth. In curves and turns, I've never felt like the tires were going to lose the car as I have on some other tires. Traction is excellent in our Texas downpours and I've never lost control of the car while driving in rain. I can't address ice or snow as we had a mild winter this year. These Generals were a huge improvement over my old Bridgestones (which admittedly were not bad tires). Overall, they ride and handle like much more expensive touring tires. I'd definitely buy a set of these again.

Great Tires

Bought  4 new tires in Oct 2017 for my 2006 BMW 525i and have not been disappointed.  Tires ride smooth, are quiet, grip the road and great in snow living in northern NJ. Would definitely consider them to  replace tires on my 2012 Mercedes E350 when needed.
