Tires Lasted About 20,000 Miles

Bought two AltiMAX™ RT 43 (225/55R-19) back on Nov. 2019. Had them professionally installed as front replacements on a 2014 Dodge Journey with 75,000 miles. Just failed inspection due to both tires being under 2/32"" thread wear. Current vehicle mileage is 95,000 miles with no alignment issues & tires properly inflated so the tires lasted about 20,000 miles (thread wear warranty states 65,000 miles)

Great tires for larger autos.

This is my second set of these tires on my 2006 Buick Lacrosse. The first set I got 54,500 miles on them and could have gone a bit longer but the winter weather was approaching. These tires do not last however on the low profile sizes. I also had put them on an Hyundai Elantra and didn't get 27,000 miles off either set I had purchased.

Actual use exceeds marketing pitch

I'm retired and can spend extra time researching an important purchase like new tires. The tires were for a 2009 Lexus RX 350. This is the first time I've purchased General Tires. The claims for a long lasting, quiet tire were very important but the claim for better mileage may have tipped the scales. This winter we drove round trip to Tucson—total miles were 6000+. My wife commented right away how quiet the tires were. The bonus was the improved mileage, which went from 20mpg on the old tires to 23mpg with the new General AltiMax Rt43. The research paid off. Thanks

Good ride, great traction

Bought a full set on our 2007 Volvo XC90 AWD and I'm impressed with how quiet and smooth the tires are. They have shown great traction in dry, wet, and even ice & snow. They seem like they're holding up well but I've only put 10K miles on it so far. I would recommend at this point.

Garage can't them balanced

I purchased these tires around halloween, anticipating the upcoming snowfall. Being my second set of General tires, I was looking forward to the purchase. I was slightly disappointed to see these tires were made in Ecuador. The snow and ice traction is great, ride is quiet, however I had a nasty vibration with them at 65+mph. I took my vehicle back to the dealer that installed them. Had them rechecked, all four out of balance, had them rebalaced again. Same story, still had a vibration, just not as bad as the first time. 3 out of 4 were out of balance again, dealer had to remove them off the rim, turn them a different direction on the rim, remount, and rebalance. Needless to say, I'm not sure what to think about these tires. If I could replace with a different set I would. Another disappointment is not having a phone number for warranty claims. If I would have known these issues would have occurred, I would have went with a different brand...

Optimal balance of desired features

I put a new set of these tires on my minivan before the winter set in.  I have been very pleased with their performance in the snow and ice.  Road noise is low and ride is comfortable though one has to give up a little on these features in order to have the longer tread-wear which I desired.  I am very pleased with this set of tires and would purchase them again when the need arises.

Great Tire At Great Price

Bought for 2001 Avalon over a year ago. 15,000 miles and still beefy in front/ look full tread in rear (haven't rotated them yet). One of the better all seasons I've ever used in the snow and, during one major ice storm, kept me on the road for a 22 mile drive home. Bought some for a sister's Nissan Versa... price was super good again and she loves them. She doesn't drive that much, and isn't much of a car person, but has said more than once they are quiet and she feels confident to drive in the rain.

Great tires for all our vehicles

We had put these tires on my daughter's 2003 Honda, our 2014 Sonata, and on a 2017 Elantra.  They wear well and they're great all-season's for the southwest PA winter weather.   The Sonata had almost 30,000 and were in great shape when we recently traded in the car.  I don't know the exact treadwear, however.    We will definitely purchase these tires again.

Nice tires until they deflated

I like the performance of these tires and they generally feel and handle well. They were well reviewed for all weather, and they performed well in the rain in the Rockies in the summer. I used them for part of the winter,  but my snow tires--old as they are--are still a better winter tire. The biggest reason I did not use them in the winter, though, was that they acted very unreliably on a long trip. Two tires deflated during a 500 mile trip. The rear driver's side deflated about 300 miles into the trip. There was nothing actually wrong with the tire--no punctures, not cracks--and once filled with air again, the tire performed for the rest of the trip. On the way home, again about 300 miles into the trip (or about 500 miles farther than the first deflation) another tire deflated (this time, the front passenger's side tire). Neither time did the deflation feel noticeable to the driver--different drivers both drove on the deflated tire for longer than ideal without realizing it until stopping. Again, once re-inflated the tire performed alright, though the rubber has been worn a bit by riding low. Since the incident, I took the tires back to the tire shop (Sears auto) where they were installed to be checked over. They said nothing was wrong with the tires beyond the new sidewall wear: no punctures, no problems with the tread, not apparent problems with the valve. Sears told me the warranty was only good on the tread,  and they wouldn't replace them, despite the tire failure happening within 6 months of buying the tires. I'm running on these tires now, because the snows needed to come off, and they make me nervous, to be honest. I have not had any rapid deflations, but I have not driven more than about 100 miles at a time on these. One of the tires that deflated does seem to lose air a little more quickly than it should. I'd just like to know what the problem is, since the auto center refused to speculate and I have no idea if these tires are really safe.
