LOUD AND HOT
Pros: The stainless steel look is nice, several wire shelves are nice, vertical like a normal fridge makes it easy. Cons: It is LOUD AND HOT. I guess that's fine for a garage, but I have it inside my house and it is noticeably louder than my normal fridge. It also puts off A LOT of heat. To the point I had to move cases of soda on the floor next to it because they were getting warm.

Didn’t get cold
I finally decided to buy a small freezer for my breast milk stash, delivery was actually a day early which kinda sucked because no one was home since I wasn’t expecting it till the next day so it sat at the front door for a few hours until someone got home. Freezer was simple plug in, BUT… 1. Freezer was dented, I could have looked past this since it was in the back. 2. After plugging in and giving it 24 hours the top half was not getting cold. Looked it up online and had suggestions to fill with frozen food. Threw in some frozen stuff to the bottom shelves and now more than 48 hours later freezer is still not cold at the top. I can hear “water moving” which supposedly means the compressor is working. I unplugged it, waited 5 minutes and plugged it back in. Heard something start up, gave it overnight and still not cold at the top. My frozen milk towards the bottom is doing fine. 3. Not big enough for those mamas who are making breast milk “bricks” If the thing worked I would have kept it even though it’s small but returning and buying another one elsewhere

I absolutely love this freezer. by far this is the best purchase I have made in a very very long time. it is so convenient being an upright standing freezer and the air pressure when you close the door you can just hear it the air pressure releasing and sealing inside. the shelves themselves are what keeps your food cold all of the shelves have the freezing units inside of them. I have never seen another freezer unit built like this. I would recommend this unit to anybody who has difficulty bending down especially I don't have to dig to the bottom of a freezer anymore to see what's inside of it with the stand up unit all you do is open the door and there are so many shelves inside of it and they're nice size shelves. you have a visual on everything you have in your freezer. I am more than happy with my purchase.

You get what you pay for
The inside of fridge/freezer is 1’3” deep by 4’ tall. That equates to 5.2 cubic feet usable space, not the 6.5 advertised. The protective film that is required to be removed before use is also incredibly difficult to remove from the surround. It took me about 30 minutes to get the film completely off. Aside from the less than advertised space and the difficult setup process, it does appear to be a decent quality appliance. Each shelf has its own set of cooling coils so everything is more evenly cooled (although this will attract more moisture and require more defrosting than other freezer designs if you are using this as a freezer). One thing to mention is that if you are using this as a fridge or even to freeze small things, the coils being the shelves means there are small gaps on each shelf for things to fall through and get caught on.

I was looking for an inexpensive backup freezer to put in the basement and this unit was the perfect size. The quality is adequate, it is well built although I can't vouch for the quality of the compressor and the price was $********* lower than the units available at the 'big box stores'.

Ice build up be warned!
Nice size, looks great, easy to install. However, the amount of ice build up is crazy. There must be a poor seal somewhere but darned if I can find it. I’m chipping away ice every week now that the humidity of Midwest summer is upon us. And large chunks of ice at that. Pick a different freezer would be my advice. Especially if you want to use it in your garage or anywhere without central air conditioning. Garage ready it is not. Ugh!
Hello LoveToReadHappyMom, we appreciate your feedback and would like to apologize for your recent experience with the Frigidaire 6.5 Cu. ft. Upright Freezer, Platinum Silver. We pride ourselves on our high-quality standards and regret that our product did not live up to your expectations.
Here's a tutorial to help you diagnose and resolve your issue:
How to Reduce & Resolve Frost Buildup in Upright Freezers, Refrigerator and Freezer Compartments of Refrigerators.
Frost occurs when moisture in ambient air touches the cold evaporator coils, metal shelves and interior sides of a freezer or refrigerator.
Steps you can take to reduce frost build up:
Move your hand around the outside of the freezer/refrigerator door. If you feel cold air, then the door is not sealing adequately.
You can adjust the door by loosening the top hinge to reposition/adjust the freezer door to create a tight seal.
Adjust the front levelling feet of your unit such that the front of the unit is slightly higher than the rear. Gravity will assist the door to close with a proper seal.
TIP: Close the door on a dollar bill (or similar). The dollar bill should not easily pull out - there should be some resistance. Perform the “Dollar Bill Test” on the top, sides, bottom of your freezer door, and adjust accordingly.
Do not over fill your freezer to prevent food items from shifting and preventing the freezer door from closing properly.
Place only cool or cold food items in your refrigerator or freezer. Hot foods introduce humidity into the food storage compartment, which contributes to frost build up. Allow hot foods to cool before placing them in the refrigerator or freezer.
Wrap foods tightly with plastic wrap. Butcher paper is not an adequate wrapping material. Glass container lids typically do not provide a proper seal.
Dry the exterior of food before storing. By the time you reach home after purchasing frozen foods, the food items may have defrosted a bit and moisture may have already developed on packaging.
Reduce the amount of time the door remains open. Labelling and organizing your foods so you can easily identify them will help shorten the number and duration of freezer trips.
Set the freezer temperature so the freezers interior compartment stays around 0F (-18C), as higher and lower temperature settings contribute to frost build up.
Door Seal Care:
Keep the door seal clean. You can clean your door seal with a solution of one tsp of baking soda to a quart of lukewarm water. Pour the solution onto a clean sponge, and wipe it over the seal. Sponge off the solution with clear water and dry the seal with a clean cloth before closing the freezer door.
Keep the door seal flexible by lubricating it with some petroleum jelly (e.g. Vaseline). Wipe it on and wipe it off with a clean dry cloth.

Stand-up freezer.
it is too small, very light. The two sides of the freezer are hot; I don't know why. I ordered it online, didn't know that this freezer has a manual defrost. It is very inconvenient. Would like to return, but can't find anything on the website about returning the item.

Fridge a freezer
I really like this freezer because it actually looks like a refrigerator and matches my refrigerator exactly. I also like that it's not the standard freezer type due to it being a stand up model like a refrigerator that I wanted. Very happy and satisfied with this product

Product could be a 5 star if Walmart description had been correct. It does not have an external thermometer/temp control as described. It did arrive with a 'garage ready' sticker attached, but not mentioned anywhere in product description. This would have quickened my decision to buy the product.

This is a good freezer. It got cold instantly. We have the level on 2 1/2 and it is good. We purchsed a stand up so we wouldn't have to dig thru another floor freezer. Our family is small so this is perfect. We also vacuum seal our meats for storage so it compacts it more. We purchased lunch meats, for our son's school year, vacuum sealed them and froze them. We use the top two shelves for cold summer treats. The middle for frozen veggies. I am happy with this purchase. It came with Styrofoam all around the freezer and a piece of plywood on the top and a piece on the bottom of the freezer. It was wrapped in plastic. It had NO dents nor scratches. I love the brand and they didn't disappoint with this freezer.
