Disappointed

This is not a self-defrosting freezer and the frost builds up quickly. it is also difficult to regulate the temperature setting. It does keep my food cold. My freezer needed to be replaced quickly, and this was the freezer I could afford at the time. I would not purchase it again.

Hello Betty, we appreciate your feedback and would like to apologize for your recent experience with the Frigidaire 6.5 Cu. ft. Upright Freezer, Platinum . We pride ourselves on our high-quality standards and regret that our product did not live up to your expectations. Here's a tutorial on how to reduce frost in your freezer:
How to Reduce & Resolve Frost Buildup in Upright Freezers, Refrigerator and Freezer Compartments of Refrigerators.
Frost occurs when moisture in ambient air touches the cold evaporator coils, metal shelves and interior sides of a freezer or refrigerator.
Steps you can take to reduce frost build up:
Move your hand around the outside of the freezer/refrigerator door. If you feel cold air, then the door is not sealing adequately.
You can adjust the door by loosening the top hinge to reposition/adjust the freezer door to create a tight seal.
Adjust the front levelling feet of your unit such that the front of the unit is slightly higher than the rear. Gravity will assist the door to close with a proper seal.
TIP: Close the door on a dollar bill (or similar). The dollar bill should not easily pull out - there should be some resistance. Perform the “Dollar Bill Test” on the top, both sides, & bottom of your freezer door, and adjust accordingly.
Do not over fill your freezer to prevent food items from shifting and preventing the freezer door from closing properly.
Place only cool or cold food items in your refrigerator or freezer. Hot foods introduce humidity into the food storage compartment, which contributes to frost build up. Allow hot foods to cool before placing them in the refrigerator or freezer.
Wrap foods tightly with plastic wrap. Butcher paper is not an adequate wrapping material. Glass container lids typically do not provide a proper seal.
Dry the exterior of food before storing. By the time you reach home after purchasing frozen foods, the food items may have defrosted a bit and moisture may have already developed on packaging.
Reduce the amount of time the door remains open. Labelling and organizing your foods so you can easily identify them will help shorten the number and duration of freezer trips.
Set the freezer temperature so the freezers interior compartment stays around 0F (-18C), as higher and lower temperature settings contribute to frost build up.
Door Seal Care:
Keep the door seal clean. You can clean your door seal with a solution of one tsp of baking soda to a quart of lukewarm water. Pour the solution onto a clean sponge, and wipe it over the seal. Sponge off the solution with clear water and dry the seal with a clean cloth before closing the freezer door.
Keep the door seal flexible by lubricating it with some petroleum jelly (e.g. Vaseline). Wipe it on and wipe it off with a clean dry cloth.

Upright freezer

Love this upright! I smile every time I open it as I can see everything in it unlike the chest freezer I had for years! It also fits perfect in the small space I have! Another side note. I can actually hear the suction of the door when I close it! Very pleased with this purchase!

Freezer with cosmetic damage.

I want others to know, that they need to open immediately your merchandise. In my case I wasn’t here in my house. I bought a Freezer because I make a lot of (pasteles) for Thanksgiving day, and I needed to freeze it. So I needed to put all the pasteles in the freezer and the freezer comes with damage (cosmetic damage) and I don’t want it like that. Because this unit will be in my new business location. That’s why I’m very Disappointed and Sad.

Great freezer for the price !!

Very happy with the freezer on the small side but exactly what we were looking for storage much better than using our old refrigerator freezer in the garage. FedEx did a wonderful job delivering no dents. You can actually hear the freezer seal when you close it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I feel it is a good product for the price that I paid even though I lost a little bit of room with my chest freezer. This is a better freezer for me because I don't have to dig in the bottom anymore to get objects!!

GREAT FOR TEENS ICE CREAM AND WARM UP MEALS!

Love it. Has plenty of room for our ice cream, the teens frozen fast heat up meals and snacks and leaves me my freezer for ny groceries! Even seems to vacuum seal the moment you close it so if you close it and forget to grab something just give it a moment to balance back out pressure wise and itll open smooth again. i installed it myself and it wasnt too heavy! really like it.

Poor quality freezer

The inside is covered in ice. I have to scrape it off at least twice a week to make sure it doesn’t destroy my food. The ice is white and thick. I have checked the seal and it appears to be intact, but I can’t understand why the ice keeps freezing over.

Good buy to stock up on meat deals...

I ordered this freezer online a few weeks ago. It was well-packaged and easy to set up in my garage. I like to stock up when I find good deals on meat, so I've probably already saved enough to pay for the initial cost of it. This is a very basic freezer since it's manual defrost and has wire shelves, but it works perfectly and fits my needs and budget.

Once I unboxed it I saw that there was a den on the side. I can see the white insulation! The other thing that is really annoying is it accumulates frost very quickly, I really hadn’t seen frost like that since back in the day, they supplied a scrapper and a toy refrigerator size ice tray.😊I wished they had mentioned about the frost that the product description. I turned the temperature down hoping it’ll lessen the frost, but it didn’t, also the bottom shelf isn’t a full shelf, like the rest, so you really can’t put much on that shelf. However It definitely freezes properly, and is the perfect size for my small senior apartment though.
