[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had some ruts in my lawn caused by voles. I dug them out, put down some Scott's Lawn Topsoil and then mixed in a $30 bag of EZ Seed. Two weeks later and all I have are ruts with dirt and seed in them; zero grass growth. Don't waste your time or money on this product. Go with traditional seed because then if it doesn't take at least you don't feel as if you were robbed.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Scotts EZ Seed Sun & Shade really works. We prepared the ground by roughing it up with a rake first and then spread the seed. The shaker/spreader top makes that really convenient. Then we watered. We watered again over the next several days as per instructions and got really good growth. We had to reapply the seed in a few spots later but they germinated and sprouted just fine. So we're real pleased with the result we got with this product. And in a shaded location, too. Thanks Scotts.

I used this early spring and was worried about watering because I work all day. I watered once a day when I got home from work and it really worked out great, came up nicely and really filled in. the only down side was it doesn't go very far and can be expensive. I wish that someone could come up with a product like this that was affordable to do larger areas.

I purchased this product along with Turf Builder 1.5 cu. ft. Lawn Soil to fill in a bare patch in my lawn. The grass began to grow in nicely and I was really very happy. I came out one morning to water the grass and the ENTIRE patch had been taken over by one type of weed. This weed isn't present anywhere else in my yard (or my neighbors' yards, I checked). I wanted to test and make sure that it really was the fault of these products so I used both the EZ Seed and the LawnSoil to grow a patch of grass in a container. The grass began to grow and then the entire container was taken over by the same weed. My lawn is far from perfect. You can see that by looking at the photo I've uploaded with this review. I have dandelions and thistle and a few other kinds of weeds as well. But this was supposed to be a step towards fixing the lawn and instead it just introduced another weed into the mix. In the photo you can see EXACTLY where the grass seed was planted because it's EXACTLY the same area as the patch of weeds. I planned on seeding the other area of bare soil in the photo at the same time as this patch but I'm glad I didn't waste my time. What a huge waste of money and all the time and effort I put into preparing the bare patch of my lawn for seeding. I have to start over from scratch and I won't be using ANY Scotts products this time around.

I had very low expectations due to the late season, but with some warm days the grass actually grew and covered the small area I had been trying to grow grass in for 2 years

After the prep work is done in the area, I got the container out, sprinkled on the seed and watered lightly. The grass started to grow nicely and now looks great. Would recommend this product to anyone who wants their lawn to look good.

Doesn't work! I actually bought a couple of these and wish I had only bought one because I used it and it didn't work. I have a big bag I bought at the same time that is too late to return to the store but seeing as the kind in the jug didn't work, I have no doubt the bag won't either. It's a shame because I really like all other Scotts products. We've been complimented on our lawn before and I say it's because I use the Scotts Turfbuilder several times a year.

I have a large lawn and sometimes get areas where grass is damaged or killed. For a small or big spot, I clean the area, add a little topsoil for good measure, then use Scotts EZ-Seed and lots of water. In a week or so, I'm always amazed at the lush fill-in spot that appears. It's a great product, but just a little pricey...try to find it on sale and use it when needed.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have this stubborn area in my lawn with hard compacted soil, I loosened the soil and used EZ Seed and now I have grass. It took about 7 days for the grass to germinate. The EZ seed product was easy to use and stays in place when you water it, which to me was the key to success.
