easy way to reseed
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Finally the weather has turned for the best as in getting started for spring lawn maintenance.A quick check for all the bear spots and a few small sections of my lawn that just took its toll from the winter weather,it is time for reseeding.What can you buy out there on the open market,so many brands of seed,I look to Scotts EZ Seed and Patch repair,for all the years past I have used nothing but Scotts products,and maybe a small price jump in some stores,but do the homework and look for the sales,I do,and I do save a few bucks,as for this product,I have applied the EZ Seed Repair on all the spots that needed reseeding,about 3 weeks ago, some shaded areas and some with bright sun,I am finally starting to see some results,as the new grass is stating to come up.This will be a slow process,nothing new about it,all you need is time for it to grow,and I know from experience,as in the past,the seed will take and my lawn will have the full effect of new grass to blend in with the rest of my lawn.This product is of good quality,not much work to using it,the instructions are very simple,some fresh dirt water and new seed,that's it,easy to use,and the best part is,your job was done with Scotts products,you want the best for your lawn,I know that I do,I get to many compliments from neighbors that walk by,oh your lawn looks great,so my advise is ,a sharp blade on your mower,proper cutting during the summer,and the use of Scotts lawn products for your lawn,I get the best out of my lawn,mission accomplished,thanks to Scotts for the top quality of products they have,case closed.......
A waste of my time
This was the second time in as many warm seasons that I decided to try EZ Seed Patch and Repair. Thinking that I might have gotten a bad container the first time I tried again this year. Followed the directions to the T watering 3 and 4 times a day. NOTHING - NOTHING. Absolutely NO evidence of the "mulch expanding 4X to cover the seed. These patches were scraped and then filled with topsoil with a growing medium before adding this product. Again NOTHING!

the grass that i got to grow was great, but the weeds.
i completely re did my whole lawn. i killed all of the old grass. i used 2 -3 inches of the best soil i could buy. Grass came in and was gorgeous. But the weeds that grew with the grass. Also amazing. I've never seen weeds like these. They looked alot like crab grass. The gras would grow many sprouts from one roots. But would grow to the size of a dinner plate. There was so many. I could not control them. I had to round up the whole area killing everything including the grass. I also had these weeds grow that looked like little trees that would grow about 3 inches tall but spread wide like plague. I've never seen anything like it. Everywhere. So i started from scratch. New seed. Grew in well. But once again. These dang weeds grew again. With a vengeance. 2 years of trying to get this right. I'm so frustrated
Didn't work
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Tried it once following the instructions carefully. No results. Bought more to try it again and made double sure I followed the instructions. Guess what. Didn't work again. I have always liked Scott's products in the past but this one I definitely do not.
Be sure to spread the EZ Seed Sun & Shade evenly over the prepared area. EZ Seed Sun & Shade should be sparsely applied to the depth of about 1/16" to 1/8" thick. If EZ Seed Sun & Shade has been applied too thickly, germination will be poor. Also, make sure that no weed control or weed prevention product has been used where you are seeding, as those products will also prevent or inhibit germination of the seed. When used on newly germinated lawns, herbicides will kill off the new grass. I hope these extra tips are helpful. Temperature plays a critical role in seedling germination. Soil temperatures for northern (cool season) type turfgrass seed (Kentucky bluegrass, ryegrass, and fescue) must be at least 55° F for seed to germinate. For best results, daytime temperatures must typically be in the 60-80°F. range and not going below 50°F at night. Seeds will not germinate if the temperatures are cold at night, or are fluctuating from high day temperature to very low night time temperatures. We want you to be confident in our products. 10 pounds of filler
Used product to fill in bald patches, followed directions and ended up with very thin coverage. I think they give you 2 ounces of seed in every 10 pound package. The rest is filler. Would not use this product again and would not recommend it to friends.

Ez seed sun and shade
I planted this in an area that get little to no sun hoping for the product to work as described ("Grows anywhere guaranteed, even grows in dense shade"). Well not to my surprise it did nothing.I new it was to good to be true. I watered daily not over watering either. The ground was prepared like it should but I got zilch. Going to go with mulch I guess in this area. returning rest of seed for full refund.

This particular product usually has a lot of success stories from users, but it is helpful when we get reviews like yours to help us produce quality product. For Cool Season grasses like Bluegrass, Ryegrass, and different types of Fescues soil temperatures must be at least 55 degrees (+12.7 Celsius) for grass seed to germinate and can take between 4 -21 days to see germination. Warm season grasses like Bermudagrass, Centipede and Zoysia, which germinates in early summer, requires soil temperatures between 75 - 90 degrees (24 - 32 Celsius) and can take between 5-28 days to see visible germination. Watering also plays a defining factor in germination. We recommend watering 1-2 times a day until germination is visible and then watering 1- 1 ½” per week as needed. Both excessive watering and not enough watering can slow down or even stop germination of the product. Very good product
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this product to fill in some bare spots around a large pine tree in my yard. Using this product was very easy with new grass appearing in less than ten days with watering on a daily basis. I am extremely satisfied with the results. Thank you.
Scott's EZ Seed
I used this product several times to fill in some smaller bare spots. I carefully followed the directions. The grass came up, but did not hold up for any length of time. Soon I saw it dying off and it did not come back the following year. After its growth, I watered it from time to time if rainfall was sparse. I found this product disappointing. Perhaps there is something I did incorrectly. If so, I wish I knew what it was. It is certainly a convenient product and wish it had worked for me.
We apologize that you experienced problems while using Scotts EZ Seed Sun & Shade. Unfortunately, we cannot be certain why your grass has died after growing well at first. Once they start growing, grass seedlings may succumb to environmental factors such as disease, insects, or extremes of temperature and moisture. This is not necessarily evidence of inferior grass seed, as even superior grass types are subject to natural stresses. Maintaining constant soil moisture is the most critical factor in the success of a new seeding, both before and after germination. Even though the seed germinated, the soil may have dried out for a short time after it was up and growing. Two enemies of newly seeded lawns are herbicides and lawn diseases. While you have very little control over the outbreak of a lawn disease, please make sure that no weed control or weed prevention chemical has been used in the area, as those products will also prevent or inhibit germination. When used on newly germinated lawns, herbicides will kill off the new grass. If you see the grass ailing, I recommend that you contact a local nursery for help with diagnosis. Surprised
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have an area in my yard that gets very little sun and has always been a problem getting seed to grow there so I was not all expecting this seed to. But to my surprise after about 2 weeks, I started to see some of the seed starting to take root and soon after ward, more of started to come i with each passing day. Needless to say, I am very happy with this and plan to buy more for other places where I need to fill in patches. Thanks guys
