Exceeded expectations

I searched for a Santa Maria for a while and was between this one and another one that was twice as expensive. I ended up getting this one and just put it together today. First, with something this large I was expecting to have to drill something out, look for extra bolts/ parts and have to wait to use it. Everything was there and it all bolted right together. I put it together by myself and it took a total of three hours with a few break worked in. The quality of the grill, the metal, and wood exceeded my expectations. Going to fire it up for the first time tomorrow and can’t wait to use it.

Classic

We love the classic feel of this chicken coop. It took us about two days to assemble but it’s got a feel to it that it will be in great condition even if our great-grandkids are using it. It really has attention to detail and care for quality that is refreshing. The wood is all solid wood, none of it is compressed, with rubber mats inside to protect the wood. Our cheaper coops let in water during heavy rains, but the metal roofing makes us hopeful that it will keep things dry. Wet chicken mess is not only gross but attracts flies and pests. The large door to the chicken run will make it easy to extend the run if we decide to do that in the future. If you have any sort of green grass, trees or garden nearby, it’s going to look beautiful. I think the yard actually looks better now that we’ve added this chicken coop.

Actually practical

These chickens are living their best life in this penthouse chicken coop. The multilayered layout is an efficient use of space, and the tall house is impressive. The nesting box roof has a convenient hook for collecting eggs.

Love the Santa Maria/Argentine Grill

The Santa Maria Grill has quickly become my favorite way to cook outdoors. The heavy-duty build and smooth crank system make raising and lowering the grill grate effortless, giving me full control over heat for perfect steaks, tri-tips, and even veggies. The flavor you get from live fire cooking on this setup is unbeatable — it feels like bringing an authentic Santa Maria experience right to the backyard. It’s solid, well-designed, and built to last. If you’re serious about grilling over open flame, this grill is an absolute must-have.

Fire fun!

as soon as my grandkids and got it together, they built a fire and grilled fresh trout on it . we love it. its so nice being able to control the heat by how much coals you put under it and easily raise and lower the grill, all the holes fit perfectly and there were plenty of extra bolts, etc. top qulity - you get what you pay for!

Beautiful Grill!

Purchased last month, assembled two weeks ago, cooked on it last week. Love it! Assembly was simple, but not easy. Good instructions, excellent packaging, high quality parts, all the tools are appreciated. Took me about seven hours to complete (hot sun, wear gloves!), but finished product is beautiful. I've been showing it off to my friends and neighbors.

Nice coop but value for size is questionable

After LOTS of research I settled on this for our first chicken coop. It is a nice step up from the TSC coops while still being an all-in-one kit--it is sturdy and should last a long time, plus it looks great in the backyard. That said, there are a few things keeping it from being 5-stars. I am not sure it is a good value for the money due to the size--this is for 4 chickens max and they will need free range time or an additional run. Assembly took basically two full days, with two adults with power tools (one of which is very handy). It would have been great if parts had been packed in order but there was no rhyme or reason and lots of time was spent just searching though everything. The manual wasn't always clear and there were a few times things were just trial and error due to unclear instructions. We hit some typical problems with holes not lining up and wood splitting in places, as is common with this type of prefab product. As for the design itself, it would be great if the run was full height and longer, and the door was wider for easier cleaning access. Another roosting bar would be nice. Overall I just wish it, particularly the run, was bigger, and if I had it to do over again, I'd order the larger model that unfortunately wasn't available when I purchased this one. I am hopeful one day they will add a kit to add on to the run! Ultimately I am not sure the value is worth the cost, but we will see in a few years.

Beautiful, thoughtful coop

There are a lot of thoughtful touches in this coop. The solar powered door is so great for saving time, the roosting bar is high, which gives me a little extra comfort for safety, and the mats on the floor are nice for an easier cleanup. The metal roofing and metal wired windows and run also feel great for durability. This is a bit of a beast to assemble. Definitely allow for a couple of days dedicated to putting it together. You absolutely need two people and experience with power tools. We were a little too heavy handed at time while tightening our screws and split the wood a couple of times. The pieces of the nesting box sometimes didn’t connect how they seemed they should, and we had to get a little creative to make it fit together properly. If you are planning on keeping your chickens in the run at all times, I wouldn’t put any more than 4 chickens in this coop. The run is tall, which is great for adding some extra enrichment activities, but otherwise small all things considered. I recommend for people wanting to have fun with backyard chickens and see a beautiful coop out of their window. Expect to make some adjustment and reinforcements as needed while caring for your hens.

High Quality Coop

Solid coop with high quality materials. The mesh is strong and predator proof. The rubber mats and automatic door are thoughtful touches. It is extremely sturdy and affixes to the ground well. Lots of room for my chicks and they enjoy the space. It is difficult to put together and when they recommend two people you definitely need two people. A power drill is also a must, and I am short so I also needed a ladder to take care of the roof, so something to keep in mind. For new chicken owners, this is a great choice - I would just recommend to put down hardware cloth at the bottom to keep out digging predators if you have them in your area. That is not an issue for us. I may be adding a roosting bar - the one provided seems too high up. But maybe the chicks will surprise me and use it!

Some good some not so good

It is well built with the following exceptions. 1. The fire box has warped out in the back from the heat in the box. 2. There is a stainless steel horz. center brace to keep the 2 columns in place. This is not shown shown in the pictures, but is necessary for proper alignment. This brace makes distributing the coals more difficult and makes cleaning a chore. On the plus side it offers good bang for the buck and is well made with note to the above issues.
