Got the 5300s generator. The s is for electric start. Started on the first try. A break in period of one hour is suggested. It runs smooth and not as loud as our previous Generac 5000. One small complaint would be the short funner for adding in oil. I think they should add a couple fo inches to it.

Recommends this product ✔ Yes Finished the 5-hour break-in period W/O any problems! Connected it to my Transfer switch with 6 circuits and did some testing. I'm running this puppy on my fridge, oil burner and indirect HW heater, 65" and 50" TV's, Bascially every light fixture and a ceiling fan in my house. Garage door opener, 2 PC's both with 24" LCD monitors and various other low wattage devices plugged in. I'm using the 120/240 Volt AC, 30 Amp NEMA L14-30R Twist Lock Receptacle. There was hardly any draw on the generator much to my surprise :) with the load balanced almost perfectly on the transfer switch. I was going to buy the smaller WGen3600 Generator but figured it wasn't enough. Now I wish I purchased the 10 circuit transfer switch to add at least one of my A/C units. Overall this is an excellent product and highly recommended it. I'll post another review when we have our 1st power loss and can test it for a longer period of time.

I bought the WGEN 5300s online, I am glad I did.It fired up and worked perfectly right out of the box. It was easy to hook up to my home panel using a separately bought transfer switch, it plugs right into the L14-30 receptacle you just have to remove the neutral bonding jumper under the alternator cover to change it from bonded to floating neutral. The user manual explains this modification. Now when the power goes out we can run our furnice, water heater, freezer and entertainment center.

I bought this generator after a storm knocked out power in my area for 24 hours figured better be prepared for next well just took it out of the box two days ago assembled it put oil and gas in and the thing runs for 30 seconds and dies tried to get her to go multiple times and it just dies i do not recommend the product

Bought this unit home last night, easy to put together, I tad heavy getting it out of the box. So far started right up using both the electric start and plug cord. As of right now playing with this unit I can only think of two possible product improvements. (one ) is there is nothing in either the starting procedure or power management that tells you to insure that the Main Circuit Breaker is on ( #3 of Control Panel ) (two) I would have liked to have a protective sleeve on battery connector (not terminal ) in my case there is a small gap and I'm concerned it could be a source of contamination (so I wrapped a piece of electrical tape around it) Everything else good Happy so Far

In 2020 I purchased 3 generators (one at a time) to be shipped to me. Each one had either manufacturing or shipping defects. So I was a little wary of ordering another one online. BUT THIS TIME IT WORKED !! The generator arrived when promised, assembly was very simple (more so than the 3 previous ones), and I added oil and gas, and on the second pull, I was SOOO HAPPY, AND THE PRICE WAS RIGHT!!

After much research on the net I selected the WGEN5300S for my emergency portable generator. The key features I was looking for was size vs power ratio, Decibel level and run time. Westinghouse is a generational name brand and the selection was right on. After adding fuel and oil the generator started right up second pull.

have had it one week and its working better than expected nice generator,,,starts great the engine looks great and starts great ,,,,just put some load on it today while breaking in at 150 hours, it did great with 25% load and i feel great about it

I bought this unit to run a deep freezer while driving 3 days from CO back home as well as a backup for if/when the power goes out at our home. The unit ran and started flawlessly. I was also impressed with how little gas it used during my drive back, where it was running 24 hours a day. It's not exactly quiet, but I wanted more power rather than being super quiet, so I knew what I was getting into.

We recently purchased this item after being caught without one when the area in which we live too a direct his from Hurricane Sally. We cannot hear the generator in our home when we did the test run. It is exactly what we wanted. We are now prepared for power outages regardless of the reason. We highly recommend this generator.
