bring on the hurricanes!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Last year we ended up without power for well over a week due to Irma. This hurricane season I am so very thankful out family is covered with for power failure! This is a large generator but very portable and powerful! It's very easy to use and well built! I also can't wait to put it to use on an upcoming camping trip we have planned in the mountains!

Best bang for the buck!!!

I bought this generator to run sewerage ejector pumps at a townhouse complex in case of a power failure. After un crating it I've decided to purchase another unit for my own house for standby use. For the price you can't beat it. Who cares if it never gets used.

Crank- no Start ongoing issue

Bought this generator in May, 2018. Worked fine for a few short power outages. Live in rural area and need Generator for power outages as we are on a well and have no water when power out. In Sept 2021, we had a major hurricane come through and had no power for four days. As soon as power went out, we started Generac and it ran great for about 48 hours. At 3 in the morning, it stopped. I checked, fuel good, oil good and had been overall for only 76 hours per meter. Could crank it it but would not keep running. Took it to tech who could not fix it. Paid the $250 and sent to next tech. He could not fix it, paid over $500 for all the parts replaced Next, sent it to "Certified Generac" Tech. After months, was finally told it could not be fixed. According to Tech, Generac refused to assist him any further. After only 76 hours of run time, I now have a 450 lbs anchor as it is useless. Would love to have it working but can't afford to spend anymore when Generac will not help with a known issue for these models. (See YOuTube for verification) DO NOT BUY #Generac Cranknostart

Product has features I was looking for

Shopped around for other makes and always came back to the Generac reviews. Price is good. The company I bought it from Assembled it for me at no extra cost.I put in the oil and gas and started on the first pull. Tried all Receptacles on the generator. All worked. Bought it as a stand by in case we lose power.Good product

Good product for the money

The generator is well worth the money for a stand by system or contractors. It starts easy with the dial and battery. Plenty of power to run the essentials. A little noisy compared to others and the fuel consumption is a bit high, well worth the trade off for this price point

i love my 17500

in the north east in new hampshire we lose power a lot.i bought the generac 17500 and have used it about 7 times in the past 10 years. it ran flawlessly and the girls were very happy at home which made my life very peaceful for the week to 10 days we had it running.the only time it never started is when i neglected to keep on eye on it's battery,if it just sits around for a year or two the battery will lose it's starting power when you need it.ever so often put a charger on it so it's alive when you need it.

GREAT GENERATOR. ORDERING PARTS VERY DIFFICULT !!!

After a lot or research I purchased two 2011, 6500e generators, one for my parents and one for my sister. Other then one generator being shipped with one end of the fuel line disconnected because of a missing hose clamp, the units seem to be great machines and well built (haven't had to use them and have only run them for a few minutes). However, we broke the AC/DC Adapter cord that keeps the battery charged, its made out of a very flimsy thin wire. Well, trying to find this simple part has proven to be an exercise in frustration and this is why I don't recommend the product anymore. Three dealers I visited don't stock it, even though I bet it has to be the most ordered part because it's so flimsy and easy to break. I can't locate the part on the generac website or on the internet, no matter how you word it, the part can not be found. My mother, my girlfriend, my sister and I have spent many hours trying to find this part. I traveled 60 miles to three dealers only to have them tell me they can't find it anywhere. And NO the AC/DC adapters at Home Depot, Lowes, Target, Walmart, and Radio Shack, even the universal ones with lots of different ends, don't properly fit the generator !! The store adapters are all 12 V and the one that came with the generator is 14V. The part is >> AC/DC Adapter, Model YP-018. (Specifics are 120v-60hz, 20W, 14vdc, 800 mA, 11.2 VA). I own a 16 year old Sears 3500 generator and ordering parts for this machine is very simple.

Ready in case of need.

Fires right up and hardly needs to be choked. The airless wheels make it easy to maneuver. The handle that raises/folds also makes it easy to move. Haven't had to use it for a power outage...yet, but have tested it on power tools and it ran them without any problems

Keeping our home livable post Maria!!!

Live in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Bought the unit 1 and a half years ago, but have been using it daily since Irma and Maria hit. I don't have transfer switch installed, so i am using cables going out of the generator straight to the equipment i am using. Powering four refrigerators, two of which are for neighbors, also two fans, two tvs with DVD player and washing machine, even wife has been able to blow dry her hair!!!! Situation is complicated by the destruction of the hurricanes, but this machine and its reliable performance is keeping me sane!!!! I can get upwards of 12 plus hours on a full tank. Easy maintenance and although it makes noise, it is reliable, powerful and great value. Would definitely recommend.

The big beast GP17500E

Haven't had a chance to run the house with it yet, but I'm sure it will make light work of it with no problem! The overall quality and appearance of this machine is very well put together. The only issue I had is that it took over 4 months to get it...I'm guessing it's probably production run intervals.
