This generator is really worth the money.

I just purchased this generator and it was very easy to put together right out of the box. I followed the instructions in the book and added the oil and then gas. I turned the choke on and then hit the start button. The generator started right up. My friend who was helping me thought it was going to be louder than what it was. I too was surprised at how little noise it made. I then tested the voltage in all of the plugs. Everything was right where it should be. I hope I do not have to use it as a backup, but if I do I'm sure it will do the job with no problems. I bought this for our house for when our power goes out, which happens quite often. I also bought it with the intention of using it when we build our log home. I know it will be able to power all of the equipment while we work.

Nice Generator

This is a great generator as long as you keep the battery fully charged. 1. Keep the generator battery charged. It will not pull start with a dead battery. Use the battery charged that comes with the generator. 2. If you can't keep the generator on the charger install a battery disconnect between the battery cable and the battery. My battery would drain when sitting for 2 weeks or more. The switch solves the problem. I really like the generator..

Out of the box instant power

Living on top of catoctin mountain since July, we've experienced a few recent moments of panic as the power went out and we lost well water and our sump pump. Bought the 7500e today at tractor supply comp. and had the generator out of the box and running inside of an hour. Feeling much more prepared for bad weather. Will let you know how she runs over time!

Won't start in very cold weather

I keep my RS8000E in a small garden shed. I run it once a month for 30 minutes. Dec. 2022 was very cold around Christmas. I went out to start the generator just is case we lost power and it wouldn't start. It would turn over, but wouldn't start. I had to wheel it into my work shed and thaw it out, before it would start. I only use premium gas with NO ethanol. I have since put in fuel deicer. I tried it again 2 days later at -10 degrees and same thing, it would not start. I put a little electric heater in my garden shed and after 30 minutes I tried it and it started. 2 days later I tried it again at zero degrees. It took alot of cranking but finally started. The RS in the model name stands for Rapid Start. IMHO not so much.

DEAD unit & useless warranty

WORTHLESS. Unit will not start, presumably due to dead battery (as many others have said) that will not take/hold a charge. Generac said they would replace the battery under warranty but after 6 months and numerous phone calls, the replacement battery has yet to be shipped out from the manufacturer.

Both tires don't hold air. Oil bottle opened during shipping and was over everything. Had to buy locking nuts to mount handle. Looks like a "tickle

When I opened the parts package there was oil over everything. Pumped up a flat tire and now both are flat. Had to purchase locking nuts to install the handle. It appears to work well, but your detail and instruction booklet leaves much to be desired. This replaces a 15-year-old 15KW unit, so am confident that it will perform well. Along with a spare air filter there was what appeared to be a "tickler" cable/plug, but no place on the generator to plug it in (when & if needed to restore the magnetic generator load).

Weak spots

Governor rod wore hole out in carburetor. Replacement carb still has plastic throttle lever. Governor spring tends to break. I am a heavy duty user. I run this generator about 4 - 14 hours per day. Every day. They last about 1.5 to 2 years under this demand. Excellent generator. Just bought a third one.

Excellent Performance!!!

The RS8000E is a fantastic portable generator that performed admirably for 66+ hrs during a recent 72-hr power outage. I bought mine at the big hardware store that starts with the letter "M" and it was one of the last 2 they still had available. . It easily powered a fridge/freezer, 5 cu ft chest freezer, 1000 watt microwave oven, 8000 BTU window A/C unit, 5000 BTU window A/C unit, a mini-fridge, fish tank with heater/filter/bubbler, and several lamps with low-wattage LED bulbs. We took turns running the A/C units, never running both at the same time. My daughter even ran a hair dryer for a few minutes. The lamps never flickered, indicating that the RS8000E never struggled to keep everything powered. . The generator started up on the first pull every time in between gas tank fill-ups, which were less frequent than I thought they'd be. I was able to run it for 12-14 hrs in between gas fill-ups. . This generator is quite loud because it's so powerful, but we were able to run it overnight because our neighbors' houses are far enough away and they wouldn't be bothered by the noise. . I really like the convenience of the PowerDial, which eliminates the need to flip a choke lever, turn a fuel valve, and push the "On" button before pulling the cord like most other generators require you to do. . I highly recommend this workhorse of a generator. It saved us about $1,000 in frozen meat/food that would have spoiled, prevented our fish from dying, and kept us out of the dark for 3 nights. It paid for itself in its first use. . As a Wisconsinite, Generac is the first name that comes to mind when I think of whole-house and portable generators. You can't go wrong with Generac generators. So if you're thinking of buying the RS8000E, just go ahead and buy it! You won't regret it!

Overall very pleased

I purchased this generator based on the brands reputation. The unit arrived on time and in excellent condition. It started right up on the first try. It is a little loud as other reviewers have mentioned. Overall I am very satisfied, but won't really know until first blackout.
