My 17500E arrived and after helping the delivery associate get it up the driveway, I lifted the outer carton off the two, yes two, pallets on which it was bolted. First I removed the battery from its mount; and then placed a couple of furniture pads at the end of the pallet on the generator side (choose this because choosing the wrong end would place the generator weight on the electrical panel). Following that I pulled (jerked) the unit off the double pallets (save the bracket's & hardware) and let it glide off the pallets and onto it's frame. With little effort it pivoted up onto the end of the frame where I easily installed the wheels and the front leg assembly. That done I simply rotated it back to the ground, and was amazed that the balance of the unit actually helped bring it to a normal upright position. all that was left was install the handle, which by the way took Phillip's screw driver to hold alignment of the holes while the first one on each side was placed; and reinstall the battery. The reason I mentioned saving the pallet hardware will be evident as soon as you see them. I can imagine a million uses for the brackets down the road, and some of the bolts with locking nuts seemed to me to be a more robust choice for attaching the battery terminals than the ones' intended for the purpose. I can assure you that whining about the weight won't get the job done, but using one's brain makes an average afternoon's project out of the process.

Even though we didn’t purchase this unit ourselves, we would absolutely invest in Generac products in the future based on this experience. The GP6500E TF has exceeded our expectations in every way. We can now rest easy knowing that no matter how bad the weather gets, we’ll have the power we need to stay comfortable and safe. Love the solar options they have on their website! We’re campers so definitely gonna get one of those. I need to crockpot it in the forest!! Excellent quality and great reputation is what led me to buy this generator. I am thankful I have not had to use it, however it provides a great piece of mind knowing its there if need be. One piece of advice I will give anyone purchasing a generator, secure your garage. My first generator was stole within the first two week of purchase. Since then we had anchors installed in the cement and have it chained down. We also have a place secured by the house if we ever need to use it that we can secure it to.

I purchased a GP8000E and paid extra for the electric start. I started it when it first arrived to ensure all was OK. It started right up. 8 weeks later I went to exercise it and the electric start would not work. I took it to a factory authorized service center where they discovered the battery was defective. It would not charge nor hold a charge. They replaced it and it started immediately and now runs fine. THE PROBLEM....This generator cost over a thousand dollars, is brand new with 12 minutes run time on it, YES 12 MINUTES. The generator was delivered to me with that defective battery and Generac WILL NOT COVER IT UNDER WARRANTY!! I cannot say enough good about ELECTRIC GENERATORS DIRECT which is who I purchased it from as they are a Generac Distributor. They stepped up BIG TIME once they were told what happened and THEY took care of this repair. Fabulous customer understanding and support by ELECTRIC GENERATORS DIRECT. Generac..not so much. This is a major purchase for most. Hope it runs and lasts longer than the factory supplied battery!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my 3rd Generac portable generator not because the other ones went bad, but because we use all 3 as a service provider. These always start easily and provide the power we need at the various locations were landed power is not available. Fuel consumption is not the best, but you sacrifice using fuel for the amount of power you actually need. So my recommendation is don't oversize your generator to much for what you actually need.

I wanted to get something to have as a backup to power our homes freezer and refrigerator along with a few small appliances. My main focus was simplicity. I need to make sure my wife could operate the unit while I was overseas and not needing to read an owners manual to operate it. Purchasing this product was a great decision and I am very satisfied with the whole package. It really is a peace of mind.

I purchased this for my mom after the recent hurricane. She’s in her 70s with medical issues and this unit has made her comfortable in her home. It’s running 4 ceiling fans and three 110 ac units plus the house lighting and it’s not even straining at all. Thanks for a great product.

Fired right up and I am impressed with the quietness of the unit. I was expecting it to be much louder. Have only ran it a handful of times, but I have not came across any issues. We live in Tornado Alley and this will be a blessing during storms, however this is also great for job sites.
