Met all my initial expectations. Easy setup and easy startup.

It's kinda scary purchasing something you hope you never have to use, but for this generator ... that's the case! I expect good results sometime in the future; and I base my expectation on the homework I did on Generac Products. I think the best way to assure its reliability if I do not use it for 5-10 years, may be to simply store it as purchased ... but I have decided to run it 30 minutes every month instead. I'd like very much to give you all another review every 5 years !!

GP 8000

I owned a Generac 5500 for 15 years so I decided to buy a new, larger one. Great product Except for the Electrical Cord that was included in the carton. It is a cord for contractors to use on a job site. If it were used as a cord for home use, one would have to snake it through the door and attach 3 additional cords to it to operate 3 devices. MY HOME is wired to accept my Generac through my main service panel. Now I have no acceptable cord.

Alot of power and features for the price.

I was looking for a generator to prepare for Hurricane Irma. This was an excellent buy for me. You get enough power for most of your house and with electric start it's super simple to get everything back up and running. Some other generator brands don't even come with wheels at this price range. Over all I'm very happy with my purchase.

I'm pleased overall with the features and output.

I was surprised that the THD was high enough that my digital frequency meter would not read 60 Hertz either at no load or full load. I had to read the frequency with my ocilloscope. However the THD must be low enough so that it doesn't seem to bother my electronics. It starts easy with the pull starter. I'll probably use a bigger starting battery when the little one that came with the unit dies. The voltage is pretty stable during motor starts. Since the genset is heavy I would like to see a lifting eye to set it in a pickup bed. All things considered, it seems worth the affordable price for an 8 KW non commercial machine.

What fuse?

My generator has a 3Amp fuse. Guess what? Generac does not show this fuse on their drawings. They can't tell me what it does nor where it is located on the unit. I had to send them a picture so they knew their own Generator design. One more note. 4 Generac Generators crapped out in my neighborhood during Hurricane Florence. That meant that 4 homes were without power for 7 days. Says a lot for Generac reliability and performance. I'll never make this mistake again.

Great performance, easy to use

Bought GP15000E after extensive research. Because of demand, it took almost four weeks to receive it and Generac transfer switch. Worth the wait. Both were reasonably easy to set up. I store the generator inside garage, but suggestions for shelter when it is being used outside would be appreciated. There are some slight differences in operating instructions between the generator and transfer switch manuals.

Just what I needed, when I needed it.

Ran my freezer, fridge, and sump. It was not the generator I wanted. But when water is running in. I bought the last one on the shelf and I could not be happier. Ran for 72 hours straight without a problem. Also turns out I got a screaming deal. 25% off retail.

Great Features

Good value for the money. Will take stress away from power outages. Protect my home from water freezing in pipes and damages thereafter during winter months. Comfort for family during outages. Can't rely on Power Company to get power back in reasonable timeframe, less than one day. Have had outages lasting 1 - 3 days. Power Company continues to get worse every year due to their lack of maintenance, outage prevention, manpower reduction.

Great generator

Just purchased this unit. Easy to assemble and service to run. Started in just a couple of revolutions. Low idle works as ment too. When power is needed it throttles up. Started my 4 hp compressor for initial test. No problem. I would recommend this unit.

Great Portable Generator

A portable yet powerful generator that is well suited for home backup power needs. Wheels and collapsable handle make it easy to manuver. Electric start makes it a snap to fire up. Enough output to protect freezers and fridgerators. 240VAC has enough output to power a well pump.
