I live in the country and on any given day I will have 10s of dozens of different birds coming to my feeders. Birds like Cardinals, Red wing and yellow wing black birds, Titmouse, Chickadees, Painted Buntings and many more. I always have an extra bag of seed because the birds will wipe it out in no time. I have tried other seeds but I do not get the same response. So, bottom line for me is the birds love it and I will continue to use this seed.

The bigger birds, e.g. Mourning Doves, will eat the biggest black seeds. They were so starved that they went for the smaller seeds, anyways. After the feeding became regular, it seems that they ate anything. I felt that we were targeted with a news service to remove the black seed mix after I bought more of the smaller seeds to ensure a supply for the smaller birds. I don’t trust the news service and think it’s a gimmick for garbage hunters/ donation pick ups.

No, there aren’t many raisins or peanuts in this mix but the birds love it. Cardinals, sparrows, finches, woodpeckers, and we’ve seen 3 orioles in our yard checking it out this week so we quickly hung up the hummingbird/oriole feeder. Local birds are happy with it so we’ll keep buying it.

My birds love this food so do the squirrels buttttttt I wish it had more bird food than seeds for the squirrels because these squirrels don’t let my birds eat in peace lol also I only bought this brand because they discontinued a brand they had before it was called pennington wild bird food with cherry flavor it had no seeds so when are you bringing the other brand back?

I usually buy black oil sunflower seed (plus some thistle, peanuts and mealworms for small feeders). I have a lot of ground feeding birds coming through that like millet, so I bought this. But, they aren't touching it. Even the sunflower seeds, which may be striped rather than black oil, are ignored. I have it in two tube feeders ( I figured the millet would be picked out when the tube feeders grabbed the sunflowers as has happened with other seed mixes) and in some ground feeders. The tube feeders are still full after a week, while the black oil feeders have had to be refilled several times. I thought it would be loved by the juncos and other ground feeders that like millet, but they don't show any interest. I won't buy more.

I've tried to go cheap, but you get what you pay for. I don't know how, but the birds but they do. We had a huge variety of birds come to my backyard feeder with this brand and I went through four bags of it this winter. They ate a 2 quart pitcher's worth almost every day. I tried the Pennington Wild Bird Feed with Cherry Flavor *(also sold at Sam's) and the birds disappeared almost entirely. This is the best bird seed I've found.

The birds love it... and it lasts for quite a while. Only negative is how many weeds are now growing everywhere I use this product, also there is a little residual mess from the sunflower shells. Before purchasing this I only fed “no waste” products and there was no mess, no weeds but more expensive.

I used to feed Pennington Wild bird feed but I found that it has a lot of seeds such as wheat, red millet which the birds never liked and saw most of them being thrown on the floor. But once I started to use this seed mix I saw a lot of birds mostly House sparrows, Gold finches, House Finches and occasionally cardinals, Woodpeckers.

The sunflower seeds are not very big and half this bag seems to be milo/millet. I'm watching the birds shovel it out of the feeder to get what little they want. Now that its getting warmer, I have hundreds of sprouts coming up of things they did not eat. Even though it is more expensive, I'm going back to Walmart to get the Nut n Berry.

The last 40lb bag from Sam's had a green, blue and white label and the birds loved it. I got this bag this time and I notice it is mostly sunflower seeds. Maybe this attracts a different bird but I used to have a constant flow of birds around my feeder, at all times of day. My office looks out at the feeder so I am regularly watching. Now, with this purple-label bag, I just don't get many birds. Sure, I get some, but it is significantly fewer than before.
