Not even close to fresh anymore

When I first started purchasing this seed, I was thrilled by how fresh it was and so were the birds. Five stars all the way. Now, They must have a warehouse full of this and it is OLD and full of COBWEBS and MOTHS. Just completely disgusting. Still charging the same price when they shoud be giving it away or dumping it and getting fresh seed.

best bird seed for price

Love birds? Buy this bird seed and they'll flock to your feeder. Black oil sunflowers, peanuts, millet, and more is a combo that entices goldfinches, cardinals, woodpeckers, titmice, and others... I've bought comparably priced and more expensive seed mixes that were mostly millet or other inexpensive seeds...this one gives you bang for your buck and your feathered friends will be winging their thanks to you!

Great Product Too Expensive

Lots of black shelled sunflowers and white millet. I was buying this product monthly till they raised the price by $10.00! It was $19.99 but now is $29.99. Also their is waste if you don't have birds, like me that don't like white millet, but if you have Doves or even Chickens, they will eat the white millet! It is a good product, you do get alot of seed, but had to knock some stars off for such a huge price increase. If you can afford it, or find it on sale, then I recommend it!

The worse bird food ever

I bought this product in a 40 Lb bag and after filling my feeders with it, I didn't have many birds coming to it. They don't like it as well as other foods I've bought. The biggest complaint is too much trash and lots of sand / gravel in it. I would dare to say, that it has 20% trash and probably, the sand is 15% of the weight of the bag. I've filled out a complaint at the manufactures web site at valleysplendor.com and it wouldn't even let me submit it after trying to 5 times. So called and left messages with no return phone call. I called Sam's and they said to bring it in and get a refund. I will not buy this again.

Good birdseed but not as good as it was

This was a fairly decent price but I was really unimpressed with the heavy addition of sunflower seeds, rendering it less useful for bird feeders meant for smaller song birds. This used to be a better balance for all the songbirds. It is now almost black with all the sunflower seeds. The birds still empty the feeders but now they knock the feed out on the ground to get to the little seeds. The squirrels are grateful.

was skeptical but was proven wrong

After reading some of the previous reviews I was leary of buying a 40 pound bag of something that wasn't going to be good. I have used seed before that the birds simply raked out onto the ground. I really liked the Morining Song Songbird Garden and was really disappointed when our Sams stopped carrying it. I hate changing brands after finding one that works so well. I put the Valley Splendor Supreme Blend into my feeders today and watched for results. I have just as many birds as I had before. I have cardinals, doves, lots of various small birds and titmouse. They are not raking it out of the feeder. I am so relieved. I do miss the Morning Song Songbird Garden 5/7 bags. If Sams were to carry it again I would buy it but am frankly pleased with the Valley Splendor Supreme Blend for now and am glad my birds like it so well.

moth maker

The last 2 bags I purchased has wreaked havoc on our lives. I've bought dozens of these without issue, but I'm done. Worms have crawled out manifesting themselves into moths, not only in our garage, but found passages into our home. We spend hours killing moths daily, since disposing of the bag nearly 2 weeks ago and have exhausted 2x6 packs of moth traps. I would guess we have captured and killed over a 1000, I'm not kidding. It's ridiculous...

VERY POOR quality

Beware ! if you store this bag of Sam's "supreme blend bird seed" in your home as I DID your home will be infested with moths ! The bag I purchased was full of worms/larvae and you end up with a moth factory !! I would not recommend this product to anyone !! If you do ya better purchase a Salt Gun !! No quality control from Sam's,I guess they don't believe in discarding a contaminated batch !!!

Gypsy Moths

Hello: I've been buying Valley Splendor Supreme Bird Seed from Sam's Club for several years but am very disappointed with my last two 40-Lb bag purchases, both bought at different times within the last six months. Both were loaded with gypsy moth larvae and adult moths. I've tried to get rid of the larvae by putting the bags out in the hot sun all day, but that didn't do any good. Apparently the tiny eggs are very resistant. I filled my two large Droll Yankee bird feeders with the seed anyway, after picking out as many larvae as I could see, hoping the birds would still eat the seed, but the decaying remains of the eggs, hatched larvae and associated fine webbing messed the bird seed and the feeder up so badly that the birds wouldn't eat the food. I ended up throwing about half of the first bag and all of the second bag away, in addition to having to take my feeders apart and scour them out. I would not recommend this product to anyone. Also, I thought you would want to be made aware of the problem.

READ the ingredients

Very poor seed. Calcium Carbonate, and a lot of it, is just rock. So much rock made into very tiny pieces. The majority of the bag is the tiny yellow seed that no birds want. There is near nothing for supposed peanuts and raisins. We had lots of birds eating from this feeder for 2 years, bought this bag and now nothing but squirrels shaking it and doves on the ground from time to time. Today we cleaned it out and put in our previous mix, and within a half hour all our birds were back. Save your money and get real seed, not garbage.
