Problems with packaging and shipping, not product

Before I ordered this DVD-R 100 pk spindle I shopped around and read reviews... one caught my eye, complaining about the packaging (or lack thereof) for a similar 100 pk spindle, albeit different brand. Well I have to say my experience was equally disappointing, even though I used the ship-to-store option in hopes that it might somehow be safer... turns out it wasn't. I don't know if Walmart or UPS is to blame, or both, but let's just say their methods are not up to par. First of all the box used was too big for the product, so you would think they might use foam packing peanuts to fill the space... nope. They used two of those clear air packs, which wouldn't have been sufficient even if one of them hadn't gone flat. By the time I received the product one of the plastic container's locking grips at the bottom had broken off completely, the box had been thrown around so much the three small white circular space fillers at the top of the spindle had all somehow rattled off of the spindle altogether, and I was lucky not to find a box full of loose dvd's. Oh, did I mention that the top couple of dvd's were badly scratched to boot? Verbatim DVD's are great. My review is not of them, it's of WalMart/UPS, which apparently fail miserably, repeatedly. I recommend Verbatim DVD's, but I strongly suggest you go about obtaining them via another method, from another supply store completely.

Astounding reliability

These Verbatim DVD-R are one of the very few to use the "Azo” recording dye, which provides the highest level of read/write performance, reliability, and archival life. I stopped using cheap brands that would fail to mount a few months after burning and completely switched to these 4 years ago. I never had a single case of a DVD-R that stopped working and almost no DOA discs that would not burn. VERY highly recommended, don't buy anything else!

I have used this product for years. I have never had a bad disk and recording quality is excellant. Site to store was free, quick and the product arrived in good shape. If you need blank recording media, you can't beat Verbatim. Buy them and try them, You won't regret it.

Solid Performance and Quality

I have never found another product that gives me the stability and quality that Verbatim does. Data retention is higher than other brands. The amount of bad discs in a spindle averages about 1 per 100. I like those odds and would recommend this product for all of your burning needs.

Just Blank DVDs

They're just blank DVD media. Verbatim has been making media for decades and they have a well-deserved good reputation. Most important to me was that this purchase cost me only 60% of what it would have cost me to purchase the only DVD media stocked in my local Walmart (Memorex @ $34.96 / 100) so it was well worth a few days waiting to pick it up. I've been finding that items (even those regularly stocked at my local Walmart) are often less expensive when ordered online and shipped for instore pickup than the price I'd have to pay buying them off the shelf in the store so I'll probably use online ordering more often in the future.

Great For My Magnavox DVD HDD

These last me about a year recording movies. I don't have cable so that it probably why they last so long. I don't get a lot of good movies to record. But these work great you can't accidently erase your DVD and what I like is when you put the name of a movie on the DVD with a magic marker you can erase the marker using alcohol and a Q-Tip then write the name again. I don't think I have ever gotten a bad DVD out of the 100 that I used and for $20 it is a good buy and nice to always have on hand. So $20 a year is not bad to record movies on. When I record movies on these and after I finalize them ( I have to on my Maggie to watch elsewhere) I can put them in the computer and see them there if I want.

I've used these for awhile. I have never had one that didn't work. I've also used the more publicized brands such as; Memorex, Phillips, Kodak, and Polaroid. The kindest thing I can say about all of them is, that not one would even get a three star rating from me.

horrible disc

I bought 2 100 piece packages about two months apart. The first 20 or so recorded movies fine. Over the next 20 or so the recorded disc played fine until the final chapter. They then became pixelated and eventually temporarily froze and then completely froze. Thought it was my drives, so I replaced them both and had the same issue but as I worked my way into the stack the issue worsened. I thought it was my software and I upgraded that. No effect! I complained to Verbatim and sent them all types of proof and pictures but they did nothing. Thinking I had a bad batch, I started a new package. By the 10th disc the problem started to return in the new pack. This problem occurred years ago but seemed to have been resolved a couple of years ago until now. STAY AWAY!!! Not worth a dollar or two in savings!

A Surprise in the package

Even though the product was packaged really good in bubble wrap, and even though the box showed no signs of having been banged around in shipping, there was damage to the product. The plastic container was cracked in multiple places and split open, but the plastic wrap was intact and had not been removed or replaced. So imagine my surprise when I got ready to use a disc and saw that the first two had not only been recorded on already, but had the titles written on them as well!? Superman 1 and Superman 2 were the first two discs, handwritten titles in green marker. Too bad I already had those two movies...:) Very strange situation in how this came about and it has left me scratching my head.

Good but 6 dvd's would not finish recording

Mostly good but at the bottom of the stack ,almost in a row, 6 dvds would record partially, then stop, not finalize and then a error popped up that the dvds could not be recorded on though they already had been and I could not salvage what was on the dvds either. Furious! Way to wreck my recordings verbatim! Not sure I will buy this brand again. The time spent and wasted on dvds that were bad was highly annoying!
