horrible disc

I bought 2 100 piece packages about two months apart. The first 20 or so recorded movies fine. Over the next 20 or so the recorded disc played fine until the final chapter. They then became pixelated and eventually temporarily froze and then completely froze. Thought it was my drives, so I replaced them both and had the same issue but as I worked my way into the stack the issue worsened. I thought it was my software and I upgraded that. No effect! I complained to Verbatim and sent them all types of proof and pictures but they did nothing. Thinking I had a bad batch, I started a new package. By the 10th disc the problem started to return in the new pack. This problem occurred years ago but seemed to have been resolved a couple of years ago until now. STAY AWAY!!! Not worth a dollar or two in savings!

I ordered three spindles of hundrend broke

I order three spindles of hundred and three spindles were broke, two were so bad I had to return them and you could not notice they were broke until you took off the wrapper around the spindle. The disks were great but what do you store the disks on til you use them. I think who ships them don't know how to pack them and the company should make better spindles.

awesome :)

I've heard many times that this particular brand of rewritable DVDs is the best around and I decided to give them a try - LOVE THEM! I've been particularly fond of Sony, but I usually only buy them at other stores when they're on sale. You cannot beat this quality and quantity of this product at this price! They turn out a picture slightly better than any other brand. The one and only complaint I have doesn't relate to the product itself, but the packing at the warehouse could be much better. When it arrived, the plastic cover was cracked, but that didn't affect the product inside.

Good discs

The discs perhaps are a hair thinner than the memorex or phillips i had used B4, but they seem rugged enough. They recorded and played back great. The price is certainly the best around.I was wary of ordering some on EBay that seemed REAL cheap as the brand I had never heard of.I call these a good value.

Verbatim DVD-R

I make copies of programs recorded on my DVR using this Verbatim product and have excellent results. I've made hundreds of copies of TV shows and other video content and found Verbatim to be the most reliable product. I've also had excellent results burning video content with my computer. For best results I burn at the 6x speed on the computer. Faster burning speeds reduce the quality of recordings and their ability to playback in some DVD players.

Problems with packaging and shipping, not product

Before I ordered this DVD-R 100 pk spindle I shopped around and read reviews... one caught my eye, complaining about the packaging (or lack thereof) for a similar 100 pk spindle, albeit different brand. Well I have to say my experience was equally disappointing, even though I used the ship-to-store option in hopes that it might somehow be safer... turns out it wasn't. I don't know if Walmart or UPS is to blame, or both, but let's just say their methods are not up to par. First of all the box used was too big for the product, so you would think they might use foam packing peanuts to fill the space... nope. They used two of those clear air packs, which wouldn't have been sufficient even if one of them hadn't gone flat. By the time I received the product one of the plastic container's locking grips at the bottom had broken off completely, the box had been thrown around so much the three small white circular space fillers at the top of the spindle had all somehow rattled off of the spindle altogether, and I was lucky not to find a box full of loose dvd's. Oh, did I mention that the top couple of dvd's were badly scratched to boot? Verbatim DVD's are great. My review is not of them, it's of WalMart/UPS, which apparently fail miserably, repeatedly. I recommend Verbatim DVD's, but I strongly suggest you go about obtaining them via another method, from another supply store completely.

it's not all good news.

I've ordered this product a few times. The good news is, for the MOST part, they're pretty consistent. But, I will say, I've had as many as 10 discs that wouldn't record. Ten percent is not really a good margin of poor quality. I've never done any work that was 10% unsatisfactory. Unfortunately, most people I've worked with, and many products that I've bought were of marginal quality. Since DVDs and CDs are made by machine, I would expect better consistency. Especially since the price went up about 15%. Message to Walmart: Since you've raised the price more than 20%, I will expect higher quality. I will be putting aside all of the ones that don't work this time and we will have to make things right. I wish I'd kept the other 20 or so, so I could have more leverage. Otherwise, I will wait until I have 100 of them collected and ask for the full price of the last set I've bought.

Thumbs up!

This brand has greater reliability & is more effective over longer periods of time than some other brands...according to my research. Not available in the local Walmart stores BUT Walmart allows "store pick-up" with no shipping costs - a plus! And the item cost is excellent too.

The Best You Can Buy

I've used Taiyo Yuden (original and later made by TDK), and every other brand on the market, and hand's down these are the best dvds for crystal clear recordings. Last week I received a cake box of 200 Phillips dvds from my sister as a gift. While I appreciate the gift I'm sorry that she wasted her money because the difference of the quality of the recordings between Phillips and Verbatim is night and day. There were a lot of duds with the Phillips and the majority of recordings were grainy and feathery. Really terrible. From now on I will purchase no other brand but Verbatim.

Great For My Magnavox DVD HDD

These last me about a year recording movies. I don't have cable so that it probably why they last so long. I don't get a lot of good movies to record. But these work great you can't accidently erase your DVD and what I like is when you put the name of a movie on the DVD with a magic marker you can erase the marker using alcohol and a Q-Tip then write the name again. I don't think I have ever gotten a bad DVD out of the 100 that I used and for $20 it is a good buy and nice to always have on hand. So $20 a year is not bad to record movies on. When I record movies on these and after I finalize them ( I have to on my Maggie to watch elsewhere) I can put them in the computer and see them there if I want.
