DON'T BE FOOLED

These are not the "colossal" crab legs they used to sell. These things are a joke. Even for "king" crab legs they're no bigger than the snow crab legs right next to them in the store. I wish I could get my money back for my membership. Those colossal crab legs were the only reason I signed up. DO NOT BUY.

Verified Purchase

New supplier needed

The above “King Crab” were below average quality and dry, stringy and had a rubbery texture. The order was delivered to me and did not sit out-delivery in am on time. Poor quality product. Do not drive so unable to return to store. The snow cab is better quality- don’t waste money on this item it will be a disappointment if you are even able to eat it. Expensive lesson learned. First issue with Sam’s on meat, seafood, dairy, produce or frozen items!

Good crab legs option

Like it or not, the price of crab legs has gone up significantly over the past few years. My family had these Aqua Star King Crab Legs at Christmas, and we all agreed that they were very good. You can see the product you're purchasing in a clear plastic bag. If they don't meet your expectations based on purchases made years gone by of colossal King Crab, that is still available for $70-$90/lb. at specialty stores. These pre-split legs are much bigger than the snow crab at Sam's for $16.99/lb and you don't have the waste of the body portion of the snow crab. The best price I saw on snow crab this season was $9.99/lb at a chain grocer and it was sold in boxes so you couldn't inspect the product. I think these are a good option and not much more money for the amount of crab meat you actually extract.

King like review

Tonight I tried the “ Aqua star, wild southern king crab” and the first thing I noticed was the size. The size looked pretty good and the crab even better. It was very easy to open because it was cracked, but more importantly, the taste was very enjoyable, except for the fact that on the bag, it was supposed to be a little sweet and I didn’t get that at all. But other than that there are no other complaints. Everything else is great the price, the amount you get in one bag, The taste, the presentation, and the convenience.

Unlucky this time

Last November bought an order by the same company in slightly different Packaging which were quite good actually. The taste texture amd smell of these crab legs were like they had been thawed and refrozen a few times. Sam's was great about processing the return.

READ the label!

For all you idiots that cannot read… These are southern king crab legs, not Alaskan king crab legs. These crabs live in two different areas of the ocean and guess where these come from? Yes, you guessed it, the south. Southern South America to be more precise… Not the Bering sea. The waters aren’t as cold, the crabs bodies do not produce the same amount and type of sugar to keep themselves warm and as an energy source. they are not going to taste the same or be the same size as Alaskan king crabs. Please use the Internet for something other than video games, crossword puzzles and useless texts!

Don'y buy these, they are not good

These are terrible. I've bought some about a month ago (they were much larger, only had 2 legs/claws in the bag because they were as long as your arm and those ones were fantastic). These however are not. The texture is dry, like they had been thawed/re-frozen numerous times, they had a smell to them like other people have mentioned in their reviews. Don't waste your money with these. Wait for SAMS to get the previous ones back in. Wish I wouldn't have wasted $80 on these, there wasn't a single edible bite out of 2 bags and we didn't even heat them, we only thawed them and was going to serve them chilled :/.

Not fresh. Do Not Buy!

Last year we bought the FRESH King crab legs which happened to be available for our son's birthday. He said it was his best meal ever and asked for them again this year. The fresh king crab legs were not available so we bought these pre-cooked Southern legs and claws with an October 2026 sell by date, thinking they would be OK. These are the worst crab legs ever, stringy and dehydrated with a bad flavor. Seriously, these are not fit for human consumption. A Sam's manager should try these at home to appreciate how bad they are.

A good product which saves time and discomfort

I purchased this yesterday and my wife and I consumed it about 30 minutes ago. The product comes in a bag and advertises that it is cracked beforehand and the spines removed. True to form it was both of those things. You get about 2lbs of product for the price which is a standard price. Flavor: It tastes like crab, King Crab to be exact. We steamed it as suggested and then ate it without any butter as a control and then with homemade garlic butter that my wife whipped up for us. The crab itself seems a little dry, and it would seem that maybe that would be attributed to the cracked nature which may compromise the meat. It did taste good, but was a little dry. When we added our garlic butter it was better. Appearance: Typical crab legs with scores on the sides of the appendages which makes it easy to open and consume the product inside. This is an advantage and also may be a hindrance per the meat quality mentioned above. It is nice to not have to deal with the spines which can cause discomfort for those not possession the shell cracking and meat hunting tools. Overall: The product had a good taste to it, but due to it being a little dry it could not be given a 4 or even 5 star rating. This product would best serve as an ingredient in another dish such as a bisque or maybe even a dish that would use this as its meat.

Good food from good people

The crab legs🦀 were amazingly exquisite. I was expecting less, but I was happy that the reality of it superseded my expectations. After carefully reading the easy to follow instructions, I boiled them and seasoned them with my own blend of old bay season with some garlic powder and cayenne powder. The meat was tender and soft, not rubbery or tough. The legs were also full of meat. Best of all, they were precut with juicy tender meat that my kids and I enjoyed very much.
