Great Purchase

Purchased this set after looking at it for over 4 years. It never goes on sale-but it is worth the price! We will probably never need to purchase another patio set. I used Tung Oil before putting it together which I would recommend if you want to keep the natural brown look instead of letting it patina. It was simple to put together and my husband did it himself with no complaints. The set is solid and heavy. The chairs are extra wide and the sofa seats two with ample room. Also the ottomans are as wide as the chairs and make a "bench" for extra seating. The cushions are VERY comfortable and thick! Much better than in any set I have ever seen in store sets. The only disadvantage is that the cushions are a very light cream color. However, they all have zippers to remove and clean which is a must with the light color. Could not find a better wood set for the cost!

Love my teak patio set!

I went to the World Trade Center in Dallas with my father, an interior designer, to look for patio furniture. Even wholesale, teak is very expensive! So, I thought I would try Sam's teak set & I'm glad I did! It's wonderful! I'm very happy with the style, quality, & value. I also wanted neutral cushions & the color is perfect (grey beige)! My father was impressed as well. TIP: I did some research & most companies recommend a teak SEALER (not oil) to maintain its beauty & color.

Outstanding product will last a lifetime

We have had our set for a month and a half and love our set. We agree with everyone that talk about the quality of the set and how easy it was to put together. We did some research on what the best oil would be to oil the set. We found an article in Wood Working magazine that talked about different kinds of oil and it recommended not buying teak oil from Home Depot, Lowe’s or most anywhere else because they are varnishes. They said to use Boiled Linseed Oil that you can buy most anywhere. It did say that if you live in a high humidity area you should check with the local marina to see what they recommend in your area. I also found an article that suggests you leave the furniture outside for two or three week to open the grain prior to applying the oil. We left ours out two weeks prior to oiling with Boiled Linseed Oil and they came out just great. We also found covers that fit right on Sam’s web page. For the chairs you need to get 2 of the Veranda Adirondack Chair Covers and for the Loveseat get the Veranda Patio Sofa Loveseat Cover. We did not buy covers for the Ottomans because we could not find any large enough to fit. So what we do is put the Ottoman cushions on the love seat prior to putting on the cover and it fits just fine and covers the both the sets of cushions and the rest of the love seat. The Ottoman cushion will also fit under the Adirondack chair covers but not as well as under the Loveseat cover. The covers are of very high quality and we love them. We live in Albuquerque and we get wind and some dust storms so we also Scott Guarded the cushions prior to use. Jane & Jim

Cushions are like a sponge!

I saved and waited three year to be able to purchase this beautiful set and another teak set, but might never be able to use them. The cushions have to be kept indoors taking up our living room because the morning dew soaks in and then never completely dry. Don't even consider letting them be outside in the rain! Then the moisture caused mildew on the wood. I have ordered scotch guard to try and make them usable. If it doesn't work, I am out over $3,300 on my two sets that are unusable. I assumed "Outdoor Furniture" would be made for outdoor use!?! I have never been so disappointed in a purchase.

Beware - Don’t waste your money!

I bought this last summer based on the pictures and reviews. Assembly was straight forward and the quality seemed good - especially real teak at this price. The wood color is not what is pictured, nor what most would think teak should look like - it’s bare, untreated wood without a sealer or stain. They tell you this in the description, so I don’t have an issue with that but the pictures deceive. My biggest problem is the cushions fade VERY fast. Mine started royal blue and faded to silver/gray in 2 months! They look horrible now. Replacement cushions with durable Sunbrella will cost over $1,000!! The cushions are not really comfortable either, but would have been ‘ok’ if not for the fading. The warranty doesn’t cover the fading either... Save your money and make sure to get something with Sunbrella fabric. If you still feel the need to buy this set, I’ll sell you mine...

Deceptive cushion colors

This item had to be shipped ($200 extra) to us, no local pickup. It arrived in 3 huge boxes, wrapped together on a pallet weighing over 300lbs. Unpacking took over an hour. All this to say, it is not returnable if something goes wrong. I put the furniture together, it was easy to do. I went to put the cushion covers on the cushion but the covers were navy blue, almost black in color, with speckles of light blue mixed in. Totally different than what was shown on the Sam's Club website. I contacted the manufacturer to have the cushion covers exchanged for the blue color advertised for this set. They advised the covers were correct. They were navy, not blue. “Leo” advised that different computers and phone screens can manipulate the color and that was explained in the Sam's Club website. As I told Leo, I'm a photographer. I understand how colors in photos are manipulated and there's no way to lighten the cushion color from navy to slate blue without also lightening the color of the teak. In looking at other photos in the reviews, I found many many photos of the blue cushions, the same as advertised, and then I saw one that was almost black. But they don't offer this in black. THIS was the navy blue color that I had been sent. Since the majority of the pics are of the blue cushions, I'm assuming they did have a blue color offered at one time but it must've sold out. And instead of changing the advertising photos to show a navy cushion color, they kept the same slate blue cushions (still listed as blue and not navy) and covered themselves with ‘navy is a shade of blue.' All the boxes have been taken away, I cannot return this to Sam's club without making multiple trips (an hour each way) because the furniture is too large. Custom cushion covers in a similar blue as shown were quoted to me at $700 to be made. Neither Cambridge (manufacturer) or Sam's Club would refund a portion of the price or help to get a better color. I now have furniture that doesn't match anything else on our porch. In the realm of things, this may not matter much. But when your spend $2,000 on something, you expect to get what was advertised, not a bait and switch with sold out merchandise replaces with something else and then being gaslit when you complain.

The overall quality of this set is very good and I am satisfied, however, the sofa arrived with the center back slat cracked. We were able to fix with wood glue and C-clamps and no one will be able to tell. The color of the cushions is darker than expected. More flax than anything. However, they were clean and in good shape. I would recommend this product. Good price.

Look great but lacking quality control

This set looks gorgeous and is easy too put together. However after assembly two of the pieces were wobbly. After a little inspection one of the pieces was warped and I called for a replacement. It arrived in 7 days. Also, one of the coffee table legs was about 1/8" shorter than the others. For 1700 after shipping and tax I would expect better craftsmanship. In the end the set looks great on our patio.

Worst purchase ever!

Do NOT buy this patio set! We bought this set 3 years ago to replace a previous set we had bought at Sam’s club. The previous set lasted over 12 years, and the cushions were Sunbrella fabric. Big mistake to buy this set, within 6 months the cushions were fading so bad and sucked up the rain like a sponge! I called Sam’s club and got replacement cushion cover, and same thing happened after 6 months cushions faded to a horrible gray and now the inside of the cushions are deteriorating and the white inside cover is completely gone. Leaving just the bare foam, under the covers. Every time it rains the cushions hold so much water. This material is NOT weather proof at all! As for the Teak wood it is a bad quality and the wood is terrible looking. Spotty and gray instead of the nice silver that Teak wood turns to. The sofa and chairs are falling apart, and are very unsteady, the screws are not holding it together properly anymore. Save your money and a lot of headache and look elsewhere for a proper Teak furniture set.

Looks good but not the quality I was expecting

Pros: Love the design and the set definitely looks much more expensive than it was. Relatively easy to assemble but definitely needs two people and a power screw driver. Used teak oil to protect the natural wood and application was very easy. Couple of the cushions arrived stained and were promptly replaced. Cons: The wooden support slats (under the seat of the chairs and on the tables) are very thin and I am not sure how they are going to wear. For example I would not recommend that someone sit on the coffee table (which I would like to say will never happen - but with lots of kids around, probably will...). I fear the wooden slats might give way....
