Have to use this to prepare and file but the integration but the federal and state returns is really awful. I had to go to form view and manually edit the state return to get all the information entered correctly. Good thing I am a CPA and have some experience preparing taxes, though not my main focus

TurboTax for Trusts (Form 1041) is improved this year. The process for computing the distribution deduction is now seamless, as long as all of the net income is distributed to beneficiaries. This has been a major complaint of mine in the past. This software would be even better if it offered electronic downloads of Form 1099s from brokerages, as is available with TurboTax Form 1040 software.

Pretty straightforward for a 2 member LLC. There was confusing wording in some areas like the 1099-NEC entry, but the community forum gave clear answers. I wish there was a way to see the filled in forms EXACTLY as they will be filed WHILE you are working on them. The forms view is different than the final printed view so you have to go to the end of the step-by-step, save as PDF then view the PDF to see exactly how it will look when filed. Kind of a pain.

Turbo Tax SUCKS for trust filing. It's supposed to guide you through the process and fill out the necessary forms. It should also explain terminology so people who aren't lawyers or CPAs will understand. It doesn't do any of that. I literally requires you to manually select forms you need, without offering to add them.

Intuit needs to do a better job of explaining ACCOUNTING TERMS and the SPECIFICS of filing IRS tax forms accurately to the customer. I am a physician......I don't tell a patient "you have had a myocardial infarction"....I say, "you have had a heart attack". What I am suggesting is NOT ROCKET SCIENCE. Take 100 people with small businesses with NO ACCOUNTING EDUCATION and have them use a "beta version" of the upcoming year's S-Corp tax program. Then have them tell you what they didn't understand and ALSO have a CPA review their business records to see where they improperly filled out forms based on your beta version instructions. This should produce a vastly improved version of your software.

Like all Intuit products, it feels like nobody is even trying to make improvements. I have dozens of pages of notes that I use to complete my S-Corp taxes each year to compensate for the lack of intuitiveness of the product. I was again under impressed this year when TurboTax didn't even try to prepare my Utah K-1 properly. I'm glad I checked it closely and noticed that it failed to carry over a $30k tax credit to my Utah Schedule K-1s (line 18, code AP).

I was disappointed that I couldn't access last year's desktop filing from this year's program. It caused much frustration in multiple attempts, including a chat/phone call to Help. In the end, I was forced to enter all information manually again. I have been using TT Business for this return since 2014! In addition, in order to file a 1099-INT, I had to go to an online version and re-input redundant information in order to create the filing. This should be a function of the main program, even if it has to be a subroutine to which you connect the user. Within the Business program, several times (it seemed) I had to re-input the same information. The program should be able to look back at the previously entered names, addresses, etc. to fill out subsequent forms. Having expressed these frustrations, This is still the best option for reporting our taxes.

Very easy to use. Did not need Tax support help. There is one improvement I would make. I tried file on 15 Jan which now I know is too early. I had to repeat a number of steps on 31 Jan to file. Before I started those steps like completing form 8453, if it had told me it was too early to file, I would not have wasted time. I did not know until I hit "Transmit Returns Now". Otherwise ...EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There were a couple glitchy issues this year, but overall still good. I like how Turbo Tax simplifies things so I don't have to interpret the actual tax forms. My biggest complaint is that they need to make a tax software for partnership businesses that is compatible with Mac computers. Our business uses mostly Macs. Every year we have to pull out an old clunky PC so we can do our partnership taxes. Time to create an option for Macs!

I encountered a problem when trying to allocate Other Liabilities for the Partners on Schedule K1. The system gives an error but doesn't clearly state how to fix it. The problem was resolved by entering a code on the Partners Liabilites Smart Worksheet page 5 line D. I found this by googling but it took days before finding something that help clarify the issue.
