New Favorite Monitor
The Philips Avent Digital Video Baby Monitor might be the best baby monitor I've ever used. The monitor itself is lightweight and portable, with a clip you can place on your belt to walk around with- very handy! It also has a wider base so it can sit up and it doesn't take up much space, like when I put it on my desk while working from home. I especially like the 2-way radio function and songs, so I can hear my son, play music and also talk to him if necessary. The only issue I encountered that was there's a sight delay in the 2-way radio function but it's barely noticeable. I highly recommend for any parent or for a baby shower. I received the product through the weeSpring Parent Panel
Awesome Video Monitor
I received the monitor for free as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel for my review and really love the quality of the monitor. I set it up on the dresser across the room but it also has stuff to mount on the wall. The picture is super clear and the sound is awesome. I love the feature to play lullaby direct from the camera in the baby's room. I had a speaker only monitor and this is a major upgrade. The eco, audio and video features make it easy to switch settings. I was concerned about set up and linking but all I needed to do was turn it on. Super easy and user friendly - highly recommend
Fun and useful video monitor
My son is already almost two, and until recently, we had used a simple audio monitor to keep tabs on him while he slept. We didn't think we needed a video monitor, but were still excited to receive the Philips Avent Digital Video Baby Monitor to test for free as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel. I wish we'd known before what we'd been missing! From night one, we loved watching our little guy on the great screen. The mystery behind many of the noises and cooing was revealed. It was fun to watch him bumble around in his crib while he tried to fall asleep. More practically, having video of what's going on when the door is closed has helped us know when he really needed us to come in and when he was just resettling in his sleep. The picture is very clear, so we can see exactly what's up. The monitor has several different modes, including audio only and ECO mode. Unfortunately, because we always have a white noise machine running in our son's room, the ECO mode wasn't useful. The white noise was enough to keep it triggered all the time, so it didn't turn off ever to save energy. Having the audio mode was great, though, since we could leave the video off until he cried and we needed to check on him. Overall, this is a great monitor that we would definitely recommend.
Lightweight, Clear Picture, and Easy to Use
The Philips Avent baby monitor is the best baby monitor we've used throughout our three children baby stage. It's quick and easy to set up and even easier to use. I tried it out on both my 16 month old and my 5 month old. For my baby, since he's still in our room, I placed it near my own dresser and turned it towards his crib. On occasion I even placed it within his crib, at the foot of his mattress. It's so compact and portable that it doesn't take up hardly any room and is easy to maneuver and set up to your exact liking. This was a great option for whenever I went outside with my older children while the baby was napping. I was still able to take the portable display part and keep an eye on my baby without being in the house. For my 16 month old I placed it on his dresser and turned to face his bed. My 16 month old loves sleeping in the dark and likes to have his door closed when napping/sleeping. Despite how dark it was in his room, the monitor still provided a great image. The monitor itself is also great since there's no blinking bright light when in use or a lit up screen. Aside from the optional night light (which itself isn't too bright either), you can't even tell the monitor is there, let alone on. This is great if you have an older child who will try and touch it if he could see it. The actual screen/display is also quite light and portable. The screen itself is a good size, and the option to turn down the sound and still receive alerts when baby is making noise was a blessing when using it with my 16 month old. My baby (who's crib is still in our room) wasn't bothered by his older brother whenever he made noise. I was happy to have received the Phillips Avent Digital Video Baby Monitor as part of the WeeSpring Parent Panel, in exchange for my honest review.
poor battery life!
[Employee of philipsglobal] After using this device for 1 month the battery does not even hold a charge anymore, The battery didn`t even last a month! cannot un plug the monitor with out the device shutting down which is very inconvenient. Also sometimes when turn it on after putting my daughter in bed the device will not connect until the camera is unplugged and plugged back in, which I then have to go back into the bedroom while my daughter is trying to go to sleep. Would not buy this device again or recommend to a friend.

It is very basic with lowest performances.
[Employee of philipsglobal] I was surprise to find that this monitor has a very poor image and freeze all time. it is very slow while navigating through the parameters, i cant understand that it has more than 4 starts, this an Outdated monitor, you can find much much cheaper with better features in the market. Doesn't connect to WIFI.

Instructions indecipherable, micrographia.
For the cost of this useless device, they COULD include simple English instructions in print large enough to read. Will probably send it back, I have no use for frustrating overpriced products.
Can't hold charge after a year
Bought this around a year ago. Starting yesterday my rechargeable monitor stopped holding a charge. It always beeps to charge the monitor when unconnected to a charging cable.. not happy with my purchase. Do not recommend.
Solid Video Monitor
First of all, I LOVE having a video monitor SO MUCH. If you are debating buying one, GET ONE. It provides me so much reassurance to be able to see my baby wherever I am in the house. I love that it allows me to respond quickly to him, rather than him needing to cry loudly for me to hear him. He actually never cries when he wakes up, and I think it is due to having a video monitor because I can go get him right when he wakes. There are some really great features of this video monitor, and some that I would change. Some positives are the long battery life, the different modes (like the ECO mode), and the contrast on the screen. I will elaborate on the latter two. The ECO mode is a really neat idea that turns off the monitor and audio when it does not detect movement or sound. This saves battery. You can set the level of sensitivity (so low sensitivity your baby would have to move more to activate the monitor, while high sensitivity your baby would not have to move as much). I think this is a great feature for a lot of parents. The only issue I have had is that we use white noise in the room our baby sleeps in, and so I think that affects the ECO mode's ability to work well. It often will just stay on even when my baby is not moving or making sound. Or, it will turn off and then on but I don't see my baby moving so I'm not sure why it is turning on. Both of these seem to happen even after messing with the sensitivity settings. I think that if you do not use white noise, it might function more properly. The picture on the screen looked a little funny to me at first, but then I decided that I like the contrast between my baby and the background (I have included a picture), because it is easier for me to see his chest rising and falling. There is one last thing I would change about this monitor. I wish there was an easier way to pan around. You have to go into a setting and then pan (which has a limited range). But overall I think that this could be a great choice for many parents. Thank you to weeSpring Parent Panel for sending me this video monitor to try and review.
Great monitor, bad range of motion
I received this product as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel in exchange for my honest review. This is a very good monitor with some nice features. The range is much longer than I've ever used before, which is great because my in-laws live next door. We were able to take the parent unit to their backyard and still had a connection. The display is nice and clear, and so is the audio. My one complaint is that the camera does not oscillate far enough. My kids share a room, with beds on opposite walls. The camera doesn't move far enough to see both beds, so this will not work for us if you don't need the option of viewing the whole room, then this is a great monitor.
