One of the best!
I received the Philips Avent Digital Video Baby Monitor as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel, and boy, am I glad I did! This monitor is fantastic! Here is why I feel like I have to take off one star: The monitor is fairly bulky to take with me as I do stuff around the house while baby sleeps. I would prefer it to be a little more compact. The video is a little grainy, depending on the lighting. Aside from the above points, I LOVE it! The set-up took me literally 30 seconds. Just plug in the camera, turn on the monitor, adjust camera angle, and you're good to go! It was very important to me that I wouldn't have to spend an eternity trying to connect to wifi or putting together parts. The built-in decibel sensor means audio will only come on if Baby makes significant noise - so I don't have to listen to white noise or lullaby renditions of Metallica and the Backstreet Boys all night long. Two-way audio lets me talk to Baby without being in the room. Temperature display lets me know that Baby will be sleeping comfortably. This monitor is definitely on the top of my list of monitors I have encountered over the course of my 20-year childcare career. The list of desirable features is long, the cost is reasonable, and the peace of mind parents can get from this device is priceless.
Great monitor!
I love this monitor! I received this product from the weeSpring Parent Panel but would definitely buy it again if I would need another one. I love that you can choose between audio or video and even have the option to keep the screen dark until there is noise (ECO mode). Until I got the monitor I was always nervous if my daughter is ok but now I can clearly see what is happening in her room without going in. I like how I can also call into her or turn on the music on her monitor. The screen is clear and the sound quality is great as well. I do wish there could be a way I can see the monitor on my phone (maybe through an app). I only gave a 4 star since I found the instructions very hard to understand - there was only pictures and i had to go online to Philips Avent website to understand the different modes.
Decent monitor with useful features
After using an archaic baby monitor for the last three years, it is a pleasure to be using a newer, more high-tech monitor. Thanks to weeSpring Parent Portal, I was able to trial an awesome Philips Avent Digital Video Baby Monitor. Once we received it in the mail, we immediately set it up in our nine-month-old's room. There isn't a great spot for it, so it is actually on the top of a book shelf quite a distance from the crib. Surprisingly, it still has great screen quality even from across the room. I can see perfectly whether it is light or dark, which is great feature and a testament of its quality. At first I was a little concerned with the monitor's level of sensitivity. We can usually hear our baby, even without the monitor, so I didn't want it to go off every time the baby rolled over. It seemed like the monitor was going off every few seconds or staying consistently activated because of the noise from the sound machine. That didn't seem right, so I played around with the settings and changed the level of sensitivity. This has helped so much. The monitor doesn't stay activated all the time, thus saving the battery life (something I'll talk more about next). All of the special features and ways to customize its usage is a huge asset. By far my favorite feature is the ECO mode. It's great when you just want a quick peek but don't need the screen glaring at you for minutes or more. However, I do think the battery life (or lack thereof) is my least favorite feature of this monitor, as it doesn't seem to last long - even on ECO mode - before it needs to be plugged in again. I wish I didn't feel like I needed to keep the parent monitor plugged in all night for fear that it starts beeping at 3am due to low battery. One feature that is important to us is the monitor's range. We didn't get a chance to trial this feature, but hope to test this in the near future and will update the review accordingly. Overall I do think this product is high quality, especially when it comes to the digital display. We would recommend it to anyone looking for a baby monitor with a good screen quality and useful features as long as keeping it plugged in isn't a problem.
Great second monitor
This is our second monitor and I was really pleased with the ease of setup since you don't have to use Wi-Fi. We just used it on a weekend trip away and it was the first time that we haven't had setup issues with a monitor. (With our previous model, we've always had connectivity issues and often we couldn't get it to work so stopped bringing it all together.) What a relief to be to check up on our little guy, especially when he's sleeping in a new space! I also like the various features of this monitor: video (video & sound are always on), audio (sound always on), vox (display and sound turn off after 20 seconds if no sound is detected) or eco mode (the display turns off after 20 seconds if no sound detected). I also like having the room temperature reading. Lastly, we are enjoying the music feature which has been a great way for my husband and I to catch some extra Z's in the morning while our son enjoys some tunes. My main critique is that the camera doesn't have a lot of mobility to move the angle or zoom in and out. This is less of an issue now that we have a toddler and no longer an infant. However, in those early days of parenting when I was so worried about how my baby was sleeping, this would have really bugged me. The other issue I have is that since this does not have a Wi-Fi connection you cannot use this on your phone. I appreciate this feature on the other monitor that we have, however, that also creates the connectivity issues that we have. So maybe best case scenario is to have two different monitors: one that uses Wi-Fi and then the Philip Avent for ease of traveling. I received this baby video monitor from the weeSpring Parent Panel so we're very grateful to have this second monitor.
Love! Love! Love!
I really like the Phillps Avent Digital Video Baby Monitor. I received it from the weeSpring Parent Panel and I am so grateful I was able to use it for my little one, especially during nap time. I loved being able to see him with the color monitor and the talkback feature was awesome. He was very surprised when I told him to lay back down and he could not see me. I had no problems with the night vision to keep an eye on him while he sleeps. Can't wait to use it again for baby #2 due in February. I would definitely recommend to anyone expecting or in need of a new baby monitor.
I really wanted to love this monitor.
This will be the third baby monitor I have tried to love. The first one just stopped working with no notice, the second one wouldn't stay connected to Wifi or to the monitor itself, this one never had any connectivity issues which is really nice. There are things I liked about the Philips Avent monitor and things I didn't. I will break them down for you. At first glance I was so excited with the design and sturdiness of the video monitor. The camera itself felt a little flimsy and I was super bummed it didn't have the universal camera mount that most security cameras have. I didn't want to have to drill another hole into our walls. The quality of the image is okay, not super great which is another thing I was bummed about, I can't seem to get a super clear picture, its either blurry or fuzzy. The night vision (which is when I use this camera the most) is really not good quality at all. Its super fuzzy and picks up every speck of dust that moves through the air. It was actually kind of creeping me out to be honest. The sound quality however was one of my favorite features of this monitor. It doesn't have that annoying buzz that would be my babies sound machine, it only picks up her cries and sounds which I thought was super cool. I actually didn't think the sound worked until she made a noise! The amount of features this monitor comes with is really cool. I liked using Eco Mode and Audio mode, especially when using the night vision that was not great quality. There are also a good number of lullabies you can play for baby that are quite soothing and not annoying whatsoever. All in all, I struggled between giving this monitor a 3 or a 4 star rating. I would give a 3.5 so I will round up to a 4. If you don't mind a not so great night picture I don't foresee you having any issues with this monitor. It's one of the better ones I have tried. I received this product complimentary through weeSpring Parent Panel for testing purposes.
Incredibly Easy To Use!
I received this product as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel. Let me start by saying that the best part about this camera is definitely the ease of use. Literally all you have to do is take it out of the box, position your camera, plug it in, turn on the monitor and it's ready to go (or charge it first if you need to place it out of reach of an outlet). No complicated setup, no pairing, no worrying about wifi connectivity, buffering or disconnecting. The sound quality is great. The video quality and zoom feature are pretty good as well compared to the smart baby monitor I currently have installed in our nursery. I give it four stars because it does what it's supposed to do very well. I took off a star because the buttons on the monitor/control can be noisy to use (particularly at your bedside at night) and the control unit makes a loud beeping sounds when it's turned on and off.
Clear Screen & Excellent Night Mode!
With 3 children, I've certainly learned what my “must haves” for a new baby are over the years. At the top of my list is a good baby monitor and this Philips Avent Digital Video Baby Monitor has literally everything you'd need as a first time parent. It uses private connection technology, so you can be rest assured that you're the only one keeping eyes on your baby. I may have the unpopular opinion on this, but I absolutely cannot get into the baby monitors that you have to view on your phone. I LOVE having an actual screen to keep on to view my babe any time that I'd like vs. having to go into an app on my phone. Plus, this monitor has a smart ECO mode that helps use less energy when switched on. It has an amazing screen and digital zoom with panning options so you can view all around. It also has some amazing features like a temperature sensor, night light, lullabies and my favorite: two-way talk so you can let your baby know you're on your way from any room in the house. You cannot add additional cameras to this set so this would not be the monitor for you if you're looking to watch multiple children on one screen. The absolute best thing about this monitor is definitely the battery life! Of all the monitors that I've used, this battery has lasted the longest and that's a huge deal to me since we've purchased two different monitors in the past that had terrible battery life. Thanks to the weeSpring Parent Panel for providing me with this baby video monitor.
Amazing monitor!
The video quality is fantastic in both the daytime and night vision modes. The additional features like the temperature alert are great. The monitor was super easy to set up. The ECO mode helps with saving the battery, which already lasts a long time. Thanks to the weeSpring Parent Panel for the sample!
Love the eco feature
I was lucky to receive this product through the weespring parent panel. This product was by far the best baby monitor I have used. The video was extremely clear both during the day and evening. The sound was exceptional and I was able to speak clearly with my wife when she was with my daughter. The monitor was easy to assemble and even easier to mount. It has a wide range to see my daughters entire crib. My favorite feature was the eco mode, it saved my battery tremendously and was very helpful to reduce the amount of charging
