So many great features!
We have absolutely loved having this monitor! Thanks to weeSpring Parent Panel for letting us try it out! It has so many great features we haven't had before. First off, it was incredibly easy to set up. It took me 10 minutes to get it out of the box and up in baby's room for nap time. It automatically connected the parent unit to the monitor with no issues at all. I also love how easy it is to use differently throughout the day. During nap time, I can leave it on video mode but during the night, it's nice to use eco mode so I can get uninterrupted sleep as well! The variety of volume levels is great too for different users and when we are using it during the day versus at night as well. I have also used the microphone a few times with our potty training toddler and it works with great clarity which is a nice feature! This has really been a great upgrade for us!
Happy customer
Overall I am pleased with the Philips Avent Baby Monitor. Initially I was apprehensive as it didn't come with a written instruction manual (only pictures). This would be helpful if I didn't have questions about the features beyond how to turn them on or if it didn't take my husband and I about 20 minutes to find the zoom & Pan function :). Once we figured out how simple it is to operate, it quickly became the favorite of our 2 existing monitors. Pros: Battery life - I've used it for several nights straight on eco mode without needing to recharge. Definite bonus as sometimes I'm in different parts of the house while my son sleeps. Range - we've previously had difficulty with the range of other monitors and deteriorating quality in our basement. This was not the issue with the Avent monitor. The picture and sound quality was consistent no matter where I went inside, as well as in our immediate backyard during nap time. Music - gotta love a monitor that sings your little one to sleep, or distracts him if he wakes in the middle of the night. Display - larger and clearer than previous monitors we've had. And I love that it's in color vs weird green hue of other monitors. Cons: Instruction Manual - I'm one who always refers back to the manual 1st so it's nice to have that. Pictures are great but sometimes it's helpful to be able to refer directly to the manual vs deciphering the meaning of pictures. Camera Pan Range - previous monitors I've owned had a wider range and will Pan the entire nursery. This monitor was limited in range so you need to position it perfectly in the room so as to view everything. Overall I am pleased with the monitor and plan to use it every day. I received this product as part of a WeeSpring Parent panel promotion.
Great functionality and some really nice features!
This digital video monitor has all I need for peace of mind while my little one sleeps! My favorite feature is the vibration option, I've never seen that on a baby monitor. It's really nice to put the vibration mode at night so we (my husband and myself) aren't both woken up when the baby rouses. I do wish the vibration was a bit stronger so I could use the feature when wearing the monitor when I'm doing house chores as I have tried it and am not able to feel it alert. I am pleased with the long battery life (10 hours) so I don't have to leave the monitor plugged in to charge all night. The monitor has several different modes, but I always leave it on eco mode (where the video only pops up when the little one is making noise) since I'm not generally watching the monitor continuously anyway. The sensitivity can also be adjusted which is a really nice feature to make sure you aren't being alerted for the slightest noises when you're trying to get some precious sleep! We thought it would be nice to be able to use the talk feature to soothe the baby but it actually sounds pretty creepy on the receiving end, so that's one feature we aren't finding useful, but it's not really necessary so we don't mind. I like that the monitor itself is sturdy, and the built-in utility clip lets me keep it with me but still be hands free around the house. The video quality is good, even in night vision mode and you can pan and zoom to get a closer look if needed, although you do have to go into those features via the menu which is somewhat inconvenient in the middle of the night. And lastly, I am a huge fan of this monitor not being connected to WiFi for security reasons. Thank you to weeSpring Parent Panel for sending me the Phillips Avent Digital Video Monitor to use and review.
Great Features
As part of the weeSpring Parent Panel I received this product to review. I wanted to love this product so much because the features it offers are truly stellar, but a few things fell short for me. I'll give you all of my favorite parts first. 1. This monitor offers temperature monitoring which is super important to me because we all know how dangerous it can be for baby's room to get too hot. 2. Lullabies! Remotely from the parent monitor you can turn on lullabies to help sooth baby. This feature totally rocks! 3. Along with lullabies there is also a “talkback” feature allowing you to speak to baby through the monitor. This never proved super useful for me, but I still liked it. And 4. This monitor has good range, I had zero connectivity issues taking the monitor anywhere in our house, garage, or yard. Now for what I didn't like. 1. I felt the screen could be a little larger. This could just be me as I've used other video monitors prior to this and was used to a larger screen. 2. It advertises a comforting “nightlight” but it's really just a very very dim circle of light you can make appear on the device under the camera. It doesn't really function as a nightlight in my opinion, but that's no real loss I suppose. 3. Video quality is good just not as great in night mode as I had hoped for in a product of this price range. Daytime video is gorgeous & the zoom works great. 4. Finally my least favorite thing about this monitor is the sound issues. It has a “background” noise that again I didn't expect of a monitor at this price range. It's frustrating also because the eco mode is supposed to reduce power consumption during quiet times however it picks up every little noise so it's often not dimming. Overall it has some flaws but also some really great features. For the great features I'd still recommend this monitor.
Very Clear
We loved the Philips Avent digital video monitor and we're pretty surprised at just how easy it was to set up the monitor. With a busy 1 year old and 4 year old , we desperately needed to get a monitor in their room in order to avoid getting up in the middle of the night to double check on them. I really like discreet the monitor is which doesn't distract my kiddos or tempt them to go touching it. The actual monitor was very easy to set up and use as well. I'm not super technologically savvy , so that was a plus for me. Although we haven't exactly used the Eco mode , I'm glad that there is an option. Surprisingly the monitor display is very clear and even when listening , I can clearly hear the kids on the monitor and know exactly when I need to step in. The monitor has a light which illuminates the room but not to the point where it bothers the kids while they are asleep. I really love the music capability so that I don't have to keep YouTube lullabies on the tv all night :-). My babes really like sleeping with light music so it's perfect for them. Thanks again to weeSpring Parent Panel for this awesome monitor. Looking forward to utilizing it for baby #3 who arrives in March !
Amazing video quality
Thanks to weeSpring parent panel for this product! This video monitor system is amazing! The picture quality is phenomenal and the sound quality is great, it's loud enough to hear baby but not too overpowering you can't have a conversation. I love the music and sounds features that I can turn on from the monitor without having to go into the nursery and risk waking up baby! The only thing I was frustrated with was I felt it was hard to adjust the camera from the monitor!
Handy and portable monitor with good battery life!
I was a little skeptical when I was notified that I would be receiving this monitor through the weeSpring Parent Panel to test since we already use a couple of different monitors without many complaints, but I must say, this is a handy addition to what we already have at home. The monitor is not dependent on wifi and has a long-range (good across our long ranch home) - We're able to take the base station with us as we cook, play with our other children or just get chores done. The monitor can get loud, so it can be heard over TV, music, etc. The battery life was an initial concern of mine, but after testing the product, I must say that it lives up to the expectation of life claims. The display is a tiny bit lower resolution than I expected, but there is plenty of detail (even in low-light) to be able to see baby.
Great monitor!
I love this monitor! I received this product from the weeSpring Parent Panel but would definitely buy it again if I would need another one. I love that you can choose between audio or video and even have the option to keep the screen dark until there is noise (ECO mode). Until I got the monitor I was always nervous if my daughter is ok but now I can clearly see what is happening in her room without going in. I like how I can also call into her or turn on the music on her monitor. The screen is clear and the sound quality is great as well. I do wish there could be a way I can see the monitor on my phone (maybe through an app). I only gave a 4 star since I found the instructions very hard to understand - there was only pictures and i had to go online to Philips Avent website to understand the different modes.
Decent monitor with useful features
After using an archaic baby monitor for the last three years, it is a pleasure to be using a newer, more high-tech monitor. Thanks to weeSpring Parent Portal, I was able to trial an awesome Philips Avent Digital Video Baby Monitor. Once we received it in the mail, we immediately set it up in our nine-month-old's room. There isn't a great spot for it, so it is actually on the top of a book shelf quite a distance from the crib. Surprisingly, it still has great screen quality even from across the room. I can see perfectly whether it is light or dark, which is great feature and a testament of its quality. At first I was a little concerned with the monitor's level of sensitivity. We can usually hear our baby, even without the monitor, so I didn't want it to go off every time the baby rolled over. It seemed like the monitor was going off every few seconds or staying consistently activated because of the noise from the sound machine. That didn't seem right, so I played around with the settings and changed the level of sensitivity. This has helped so much. The monitor doesn't stay activated all the time, thus saving the battery life (something I'll talk more about next). All of the special features and ways to customize its usage is a huge asset. By far my favorite feature is the ECO mode. It's great when you just want a quick peek but don't need the screen glaring at you for minutes or more. However, I do think the battery life (or lack thereof) is my least favorite feature of this monitor, as it doesn't seem to last long - even on ECO mode - before it needs to be plugged in again. I wish I didn't feel like I needed to keep the parent monitor plugged in all night for fear that it starts beeping at 3am due to low battery. One feature that is important to us is the monitor's range. We didn't get a chance to trial this feature, but hope to test this in the near future and will update the review accordingly. Overall I do think this product is high quality, especially when it comes to the digital display. We would recommend it to anyone looking for a baby monitor with a good screen quality and useful features as long as keeping it plugged in isn't a problem.
I should have bought this 9 months ago
I resisted buying a baby monitor when our daughter was born because we were sharing a room with her and I didn't think we would really need one. Once I realized we did need one, we bought a super cheap one that didn't work very well. Then I got sent the Philips Avent monitor for free through weeSpring Parent Panel and I had no idea how much I was missing out on! We use the monitor every single night (our daughter goes to bed around 7 pm) and we can ACTUALLY shut the door and enjoy spending some time together without worrying about or needing to check on her every 15 minutes. The ECO mode means we don't have to keep it plugged in and we can go 3-4 nights without a charge since we only use it for a few hours each day. It's super easy to set up and see the baby and the amount of features on this thing is insane. I didn't know it had a built-in thermometer but that has been incredibly helpful for gauging how we should dress her for bedtime and if she's waking up too often, we realized it's usually too hot or cold in the room. We have actually been getting her to sleep better because we disturb her less, the room is a good temp, the nightlight is the perfect soft glow to keep on all night and we can let her fall asleep on her own and keep an eye on her. Seriously, spend the extra bucks and get this monitor. It's SO worth it. I wish we had gotten one sooner.
