I’m a huge fan of amber beers and dark lagers so seeing Modelo had had a dark I had to try it. I’m a fan has great taste solid body. Will definitely looking for this. I find it hard to find amber beers when traveling and they are all I drink in beer. I’m glad to know Modelo has another option for me to reach for.

Best mexican beer..is lager so it's a bit bitter, darker in taste. The packaging makes it look fancy. The bottle ajd presentation are great. I love to mix it with lime. It is more pricey than other domestic brands, but it's worth every penny. I do recommend it.

Negra Modelo is technically

Negra Modelo is technically a Munich Dunkel-style lager and has been identified as one of the few surviving examples of a Vienna-style lager. That was the style which was largely replaced by Oktoberfest, a slightly lighter but no less flavorful lager, in early 20th-century European breweries. Dunkelbiers are known to be dark. In fact, Dunkel is the German word for dark. Even as a Mexican beer, Negra Modelo follows the style quite well. It is on the lower side of the bitterness scale which typically ranges between 20 and 30 IBUs for the style. At 19 IBUs, this is a more delicate Dunkel than you may be used to, but that also plays into its origins in Mexico.Brewed longer than the average beer, Negra Modelo has a very rich flavor. The combination of Galena hops and caramel and black malts contributes to this profile, though you may be surprised that it remains a medium-bodied beer.Negra Modelo launched in 1925 and was first imported into the United States in the 1980s. It has since become a popular beer and a great alternative to the country's more popular light lagers.Brewed alongside Corona, Modelo also produces a light pilsner-style lager, Modelo Especial. Some beer drinkers prefer this to the more popular Corona.Negra Modelo pours with an off-white, medium head. The body is clear with a rich amber color that is almost a copper. The aroma is sweet with hints of apple. The impression at the first sip is sweet. This gives way only a bit to some bitterness from hops which gives it a nice balance. However, the bitter is not enough to break this beer from firmly being categorized as sweet. Negra Modelo has no real lager snap at the end, just lingering hops. This actually makes the second sip more balanced than the first. It's as if the beer gets better with each sip.You will find some complexity and depth here but the flavors are very delicate. They are obliterated by the aggressive flavors of the Mexican cuisine that Modelo is often served with, making it a sweet balance to the savory and sometimes hot cuisine.

Pretty reliable beer. My

Pretty reliable beer. My husband really likes it and can usually find it at a pub. Love the gold wrapping on the top, makes me feel so fancy. Also the short bottles are so cute! We can usually find this wherever we go, and The taste never disappoints.

I was first introduced to Modelo when I visited Mexico!  I really like this beer because it has a distinct flavor and great packaging.  I wish the fluid ounce was a little bigger, but overall a great beer for a taco night.  I would recommend this beer to others.

Good heavier taste. I

Good heavier taste. I like this as well as a Pecan porter. More than meets expectations. The gold foil gets in the way it looks nice but does not need to be there. Maybe have a gold foil ring away from the lip of the bottle. A twist off cap might help some people but I like it without the twist off.

I don't drink beer regularly but once in a while when I do have beer I only drink dark beer. This dark beer has a really good flavor and sells virtually everywhere. It's not dark like guineas but has a rich flavor and accompanies food well at least in my opinion.

The beer is great, although I cannot have more than two.  For some reason, this beer gets me tipsy a bit to quick.  I prefer something that i can sip throughout the day at a gathering, or enjoy at home.  I definitely recommend it to any beer drinkers that also partake in other spirits.
