Bag of mulch
This dirt is awful! It's mostly chunks of wood/mulch. Doesn't soak up water, just runs right through it. Bring miracle gro moisture mix back in club, disappointed in this brand.
We’re sorry to hear about your experience. This mix is a premium blend of peat, composted softwood bark, composted forest products, perlite, fertilizer, and a wetting agent. The mix should contain smaller bark pieces to aid aeration and plant stability. If you’re seeing anything different, please call us at 1-800-285-7333, and our team will be happy to help resolve the issue.
Poor quality
This “soil” is more like mulch. I have two pots side by side, one with this soil and one with miraclegro. They contain the same plants. The ones in this soil seem stunted and are barely growing. It makes me sad.

Terrible product---don't buy
For 20 years I have started tomato seeds in early Jan. Six weeks later, they are 2 feet tall. This year, after 4 weeks, they are 1-2" tall . The leaves were turning yellow and falling off, so I made a solution of Bone Meal (calcium) and Miracle Gro and this may have save them, but they are way, way behind schedule. My Black Eyed Susans planted at the same time, are tiny and only have one set of leaves. For years, I have been president of a 500 member vegetable garden club, so I like to think I know a little about growing vegetables and now I have learned of a product not to buy.

I absolutely do not recommend using this soil. I’ve bought 3 bags and two were moldy and disgusting. I was told to bring the bag back for a refund but I won’t because it would smell my car up. I will never buy this again and am disappointed with Sam’s for this poor quality.

Very Poor Quality
When Sam's Club didn't offer Miracle Grow potting soil this year I went ahead and purchased 6 bags of their brand, hoping perhaps it was Miracle Grown under the Members Mark brand. Not even close! The amount and size of wood pieces makes this product of very poor quality. If I had the stature and good lift the heavy bags into my trunk I would definitely have returned. For only $1 more Menards had Miracle Grow.

Just like other reviews said, has a lot of mulch chunks mixed in. I'm hesitant to use to completly fill my pot, so I used it to fill my bottoms of my new planters and will use my miracle grow at the tops, where my plants will be. Will add to my review if anything changes!
So many wood chips!
I should have read the reviews first, but was at the club and they didn’t have Miracle Gro moisture control so I thought this would be equivalent. Nope! Upon first opening, I double checked the bag because I thought I’d purchased mulch. Yes, there is that much wood in it. I’m hopeful that it will still function properly. If so, I’ll update my review to reflect that. (Tried to upload photos, but that function isn’t working.)

Lacking.
I purchased three bags of the moisture control members mark potting soil. I only purchased this because they didn’t carry the miracle grow moisture control potting soil like they usually do. I will never purchase this again. Bark pieces are large and shouldn’t even be in the mix. Next year I will pass on this, if Sams doesn’t carry miracle grow moisture control potting mix I will pick it up somewhere else. Don’t waste your money on this.

This product is not as expected.
I bought eight bags of this "potting soil" as the usual Miracle Gro brand I have bought at Sam's for many years was not available. In my opinion this product is absolute garbage. There are a ton of wood chips in it, so much so that I wasted a bunch of the first bag I opened screening them out. I called the number on the bag to complain and Pennington answered. They said the wood chips are in it to help hold moisture. I am returning the remaining bags of this product tomorrow. What a joke. Getting rid of the Miracle Gro product to sell your own brand and increase profits is not going to work long term Sam's club. I'll shop at Home Depot for my potting soil going forward. The photos show this product on the left and Miracle Gro on the right. I don't want others to have the same experience and have to return heavy bags of woodchip laden soil.

I would not buy again
extremely moldy and so many chucks of wood. I've never been so disappointed in a Members Mark product. I went ahead and used all three bags to plant my potatoes but am now wondering if the wood chips are from pallets that shouldn't be used in gardens. I kept hoping the next bag would be better and I'd get a good bag like some other reviewers got. If I see anyone getting ready to purchase a bag of this I would definitely let them know so they could purchase something much better. The only other product they had near was garden soil mix and i thought might be too heavy if a mix for the bags I was using for planting. I think maybe I was wrong. YUCK!!!!
