You might as well wipe your butt with the warrenty
After driving two hours to have may batteries tested, I waited three and a half hours to get two batteries tested, only to be told that they were both good. The problem is that both batteries were both fully charged when I left home , and according to the battery tester it was dead and had to be charged before the could test it. So it cannot ride two hours fully charged not hooked to anything, and pass a battery test because it's discharged, but passes with with flying colors within 5 minutes of being charged, imagine that. The second battery passes according to Sam's club even though it is rated for 775 CCA and only putting out 563 CCA. Both failed when tested at a local auto parts store, and were replaced by their store brand, a little more money, but if I have an issue they won't try to bend a person over!!!
Worthless battery and worthless warranty
I bought this battery and it lasted just over a year and a half and completely died. I took it back to Sams Club as it had a 3 year free replacement warranty. They tested it and told me it tested good and they could not replace it. I went to a second reputable battery dealer and had them test it. It tested BAD, 28% and said "Replace battery". I went back to a flooded cell Interstate, as I got over 6 years out of the last one of them and it was still going strong. Interstate also has a better warranty and stands behind their product. I would NOT but this product again.
Good battery, especially for the cost
Like another reviewer, I installed this battery in a Chrysler. My install was a 2009 minivan that had an OEM very generic looking Group 34 battery. Despite being a Group 78 battery this Duracell fit the battery tray and engaged all the hold downs properly. No reservations. Battery power is good so far. For an AGM battery, there are other options, but it is hard to beat the value this battery represents. Look around and you will see some AGM batteries with better warranties, but you will pay a lot more. We'll see how well the battery performs over time, but initial impressions are very good. As always, the help at my local Sam's Club was very good.
Not an Optima
This was my first Duracell AGM. I have always bought Optima. Duracell had a 34RAGM for a reasonable price - it was $100 cheaper the Optima. Decided to give the Duracell a try so I bought a Duracell 34/78 RAGM in December 2017 for my 2011 Toyota Venza and it went bad in June 2018. Soon as it got warm, the battery started draining overnight (Disconnected the battery and it dropped 20% by itself in 12 hours). There wasn't a replacement RAGM within a 100-mile radius of Sams Club. Sams gave me 100% refund - great customer service. Bought an Optima RedTop and it starts stronger and no problem.
Dead less than 12 months Warranty never in stock
Died in less than 12 months. Warranty is for replacement with exact same battery but Sams never has it in stock and won’t order it so can’t get it replaced. Free replacement only good if Sams stocks battery. This is exact same battery as Super Start Platinum which I had to buy to replace battery(was on sale for less than Sams)
Still going strong
Had it for over 3 years now in a Chevy Tahoe, still cranking like it's new. I've even abused it a couple times now by letting it get discharged so much my car wouldn't start because I left my dashcam plugged in for too many days. Put it on my charger and was working fine after. Will be buying another one whenever this one dies.
Failed under warranty and got a free replacement
I purchased this battery for my Jeep Grand Cherokee in 2018, and just had it replaced 4 months before the 3-year warranty expired. Sam's processed the replacement no questions asked which is why I'm giving it 3 stars and not 1. They did inform me that you only get 1 free replacement, so hopefully this one will last another 3 years. With the colder temps this winter, it had trouble cranking and I had to keep it plugged in or it would die after sitting for a few days. Checked the ignition-off draw of the Jeep and it was within spec (35mA), checked the battery with a load tester and it was at 55% state of health (replacement needed). It still started if I kept it plugged into a charger overnight, but this morning the Jeep would just crank without starting. I guess it just wasn't providing the CCA needed to get the motor running. Swapped in a spare battery and it fired right up. Brought the old one back to Sams and got a free replacement. I'm not convinced AGM batteries are worth the hype. My old Interstate conventional battery also failed after 2.5 years, and I was hoping this one would be better but it seems to be about the same. I guess the one benefit is the 3 year warranty. Interstate only offers 2 years so I guess this makes it worth it.
Not The AGM Batteries They Used To Be
3yr. warranty whether you buy the standard sealed or AGM battery. This begs the question - Why pay so much more for the AGM Duracell? I had been regularly getting 7-8 yrs. from the AGM Duracell batteries by keeping NOCO chargers connected every time I parked my vehicles in my large garage. With no unusual vehicle drains, or problems with the vehicle electrical system, or a NOCO charger problem, I today found one of my Duracell AGM batteries now has a dead cell and won't start the vehicle - just out of its Duracell warranty. Since this appears to be the normal experience now for many, I will no longer pay extra for an AGM Duracell, although I may buy the cheaper standard sealed Duracell. I have seen each and every one of my standard sealed Duracell batteries last at least 5 years regularly in the past. I purchased another brand AGM as a replacement for the dead AGM Duracell - an ODY brand I have seen last as long as 15 years, even after severe abuse. It cost 60% more than the AGM Duracell, but long-term service is a must for me. I did notice the AGM batteries were missing date codes and were mixed with months older AGM batteries when I bought my last two at Sam's Club. Could someone have swapped the stick-on date code? I couldn't say, but it could have easily been the case as the batteries are kept on open to the public shelves. But, at the time of that purchase, it did also look as if sales for these batteries had slacked off. I've noticed many popular group sizes have been very low in stock and unavailable for months at a time in my local club over the past four years. Either way, this doesn't speak well for Duracell.
Didn't last 2 years
Started having weird starting issues. One day it would be dead, then get a jump and it would last 4 weeks with no issues then dead. Jump start, driving 10 miles and it would only crank 3 seconds then dead. No draw on vehicle and alternator works properly.
I put 2 of these in my 1996 6.5l Diesel Suburban. It's been a long time since this Diesel has cranked and started so fast. This is one of the few batteries that has both top and side mount posts. With my present set-up I need to use both the top and side mounts in order to connect 2 batteries.
