The indoor shelves are not wide enough to place a standard 12 dozen egg carton (you can cut the carton in half and they will fit side-by-side). It initially took about a day to start producing ice, but having the large ice tray constantly filled is a major plus over using ice cube trays or indoor ice dispensers.
