I was so happy with the first 4-in-1 I bought in 2013 that I hunted for this one and ordered it. The charcoal pan is a little thin and may not hold up to the heat very long, but I enjoy the 4 options when it comes to outdoor cooking. The only reason I didn't keep the first one (which was working fine) is I moved out of state.

We were super excited with this purchase. My husband has been wanting a smoker feature on his grill for a while, now. We found the grill very easy to assemble and it looks very impressive. The only thing is, my husband will have to modify it a bit where the smoker is concerned. It will need a seal around the box and some other modification for even distribution of heat, but that's a project i think he is looking forward too!! Oh, and be careful of the wheels, one of our broke when we were pushing it into place on the patio. Other than that, we can't wait to use it!!

My grill came without the searing part, so I had to go back to get it. It only lasted maybe two uses and it quit. This grill has never done what it needed to do and now just 2 years later and only a couple times using it due to it being poor quality. I am now in search of a new one. I thought this would be a great gift for my husband so I saved up and bought it for a fathers day gift and wish I would have spent my money on something different.

1st The instructions to build are second to none, my husband and myself put it together perfectly and without breaking a sweat in frustration, 2nd the quality overall is way better than Weber or Brinkman, 3rd the price is unmatched for a dual purpose bbq+smoker+sear.

This is a replacement of another Smoke Hollow like this one. However, this new model has a few design changes. The grille lid handle bezels make the grille look cheap and not pleasing to the eyes. The new crank handle for the charcoal rack is the worst. The rack now comes up at a thirty degree angle and stays that way giving an uneven cooking surface. When lowering the right side of the charcoal rack catches up on the smoker box inner lip. Just a very poor design making this unit worthless.

As with any gill/smoker there are several tips to making it the best. I watched several online reviews and tips and tricks to get the best out of the Mike Hollow combo grill and side offset smoker. Be sure and season it well before first use. I used Peanut Oil and it worked the best. There assembly took about a bit over and hour and the directions were crystal clear and easy to follow. May be quicker if you have 2 people assembling it, I did it myself however. There are quite a few leak points in the smoker so getting a gasket for the charcoal and smoker box works great. Since is the first season with this grill care and store it well and I am sure it will last season after season. We have already had smoked spare ribs, pulled pork and a delicious brisket.

I brought this grill in June 2012 in June 2015 I gave it to the scrap man. The bottom of the charcoal pan rusted completely out, this started after a year and progressed to to total degradation of the bottom and side of the grill to the point where it became a fire hazard to use on my deck. I contacted the manufacturer and they refused to do anything about it. It rusted in spite of have=ing an expensive cover on it most of the time.

I bought this grill about 2 years ago and was thrilled with its multi-function capabilities. I've used the smoker and charcoal grill several times a month and the gas grill several times a week. All parts of the grill have functioned average or slightly above average. The problem with the grill is that there is significant rust all over the grill with the worst rust in the gas grill portion. The flame deflectors completely rusted away and have been replaced but the worst part is that the grill box has rusted away and no longer supports the grate. The rust has occurred in spite of continual attempts I have made to prevent it. This is a good grill for about 2 years but will not last.

I bought this product a few years back, and my experience was mixed to say the least. Initially, I was thrilled! Huge cooking surface, multiple options in gas/infrared/charcoal, and what I deemed at the time to be amazing value (I got it on sale for ~$250). All of that said, I grill probably 2-3 times a week from early Spring through late Fall, so it got quite a bit of use. I always take care to clean, inside and out, and properly season and oil the grates. Fast-forward 2 years, and the firebox was completely coming apart, to the point that the grease/drippings and ash were the only thing holding it together! One of the three burners also rusted out, despite being covered anytime it was not in use. It was still functional, but ultimately I ended up giving it away, and I watched it fall apart more as it was loaded into the new owner's truck. My $.02 is to get a quality grill, and be prepared to pay handsomely if you are looking for gas/charcoal in the same unit. I believe you're better off with a top-notch 40K BTU gas unit, and a separate nice charcoal kettle for added versatility.

I've had mine for around 5-6 years now. The metal is not very thick and the paint is not great. Ideally, you'd want to keep this out of the rain... I didn't. If you want a great deal and don't mind having a project grill after 3-4 years, this is a great grill for the price. After about 3-4 years, I spent around $200 to rebuild it, strip the rust and repaint, and replaced a lot of the hardware with stainless. It needs some minor modifications to be a better smoker, like some nomex to seal the charcoal and firebox lids. I also sealed the edges of the firebox at the 3-4 year mark with some jbweld extremeheat. I'd recommend looking for smoke leaks at first assembly, and sealing right away if you plan on smoking with it. The charcoal basket, heat deflector (under the firebox lid), and burner shields completely rusted out on mine after a few years but I replaced them with an expanded steel basket (cut and bent), a steel sheet (bent and drilled, stainless pop rivets), and stainless burner shields. While I'm really looking forward to buying a higher end smoker, this one turned out to be a great starter grill for the money and I'd recommend it if you're looking for a decent combo grill.
