The instructions lack detail especially when it comes to hooking up the gas side of the grill. I tried to find companion videos online of how to assemble without any luck. When I called Smoker-Hollow I was told that the company was bought out by Masterbuilt. Pretty disappointed the the product. I guess you have a degree in engineering to figure this out.

I've had this grill 6 years, and it has just given up the ghost. Based on other reviews I used 5-6 cans of spray paint, high temp for the business parts of the grill prior to assembly. We live in a marine environment, so I have been pleased with the longevity. Re: the critisism about being cheap, well it IS cheap, so if you want a really good smoker, buy one made with 1/4" plate and it won't ever rust through! For the rest of us this is a really good option. In terms of performance it has been great, All features function well. The side box design means that end of the smoker is hotter than the far end, so you have to rotate items a little, no bigs. I'm on sam's website now to track down # 2.

I have never used an offset smoker and hoped to rely on the operating instructions, but found them confusing. For example, the main charcoal grill is referred to as the "smoker chamber," and there is no mention of removing the charcoal tray when using it as a smoker. (The grill in the charcoal tray is welded in so cleaning drippings out of it is very hard.). The instructions (p. 32) say to open the smoke stack and close the fire box damper for "best heat." This does not work, unless you want the temperature to stay at 200 degrees. So I'm on my own in this regard. I wonder whether the writers actually used this grill! I am concerned about the rust issues raised by the long-term owners. It does have a lot of very nice capabilities with the multiple different burners etc. I guess I'll look at this as a learning experience for the features I'll look for in a few years, but probably not at Sams.

This was a gift for my son, who loves to grill, or use the smoker. He is delighted with this product!

Great purchase. I went on u-tube and checked it out. I made the modifications suggested. I couldn't be happier.

This grill rusts out very quickly. Although covered and painted at first sign of rust it lasted two seasons. Poor quality do not purchase.

We JUST opened it to put it together. We bought it 2 days ago. The handle is already rusted!! Not happy.

Love this grill. The only problem I've had is the coating on the the racks on the gas side started peeling off the first time I used it. Had to scrap the rest off to keep from getting on the food.
