Great build, easy start

I spent a lot of time reviewing inverter generators before settling on a pair of these. I have been using a single EU2000i and it's great and I was going to pair it with a new EU2200i Companion. But I like the additional features of the iGen series and the higher wattage. I read through hundreds of reviews that convinced me it was worth going this route. I will post updates as I use the units and get more experience.

Started on first pull

I immediately ran a two stage heater (out on the driveway) for a couple hours in econo mode. I would manually switch from off to 1000w and 1800w every once in a while. Handled the transition between settings just fine. I than took it to my camper and ran my 13500 btu AC unit. This worked fine in standard mode. I tried to adjust the temp setting knob manually, turning the knob down and then back up and the unit went into overload. Thinking maybe there could be pressure build up in the compressor, I decided to let the the AC cycle on its own. This way the cycle time was longer, letting the compressor settle back down. Not only did this work, but also worked in econo mode. That's why I gave it a five star. It does everything I expect and than some!

Paralleling works great

After firing up both iGen2500's in parallel, I Plugged in two 1500 watt heaters. Efficiency Mode switch's on. Both gens slightly rev'd up together with both gen's showing only 50% load. Only one small complaint, the threads on plastic Gas Cap were too tight on one of the generators. I think a little quality control was missed here. The cap should free spin all the way down till the last quarter turn then click tighten. This cap has too much friction from start to tight.

Perfect Size and Functionality

This little generator is perfectly sized for our small ultra-light camper. We can run our 13,500 btu air conditioner, fridge and lights just fine. Te generator is considered "suitcase" size and I can easily maneuver it around our campsite and to our truck.

Runs like fine Swiss watch

The Igen 2500 Arrived in perfect condition. Added the supplied oil and and a small amount of ethanol free gas, and it started on the second pull and ran like a fine Swiss watch. I can carry this inverter generator easily with one hand and wow, it's quiet and smooth and uses very little fuel. It's a winner.

Great Generator but could use some improvements

Nice generator. I spent copious amounts of time researching a generator / inverter for my 5th wheel. It came down to the Honda 2000 watt vs the iGen2500. I wanted to be able to start and run the AC unit so I opted for the iGen2500 over the iGen2200. Yes it did! It was easy to setup and get running, from a out of the box to add oil and gas, it started on the 2nd pull. Suggestions and the reason for 4 stars vs 5: 1) It doesn't come with an hour meter. They are not an expensive item, not hard to install, and the unit requires maintenance based on a hourly runtime schedule. So one would think it would come with an hour meter. ( I purchased a Hardline hour meter for $20 an installed it in about 10 minutes.) The iGen2500 already has a digital display, so one would think an hour meter could be incorporated into the digital readout. FYI Westinghouse... including an hour meter would set you above everyone else and give you an edge when comparing brands, as no one else includes an hour meter on this size of generator. Just saying.... 2) Digital display, great feature but it has some issues, at least for us Americans. First, it's location on the very bottom of the generator makes it hard to read. Locating it on the top would have been a better location. 2nd: it displays the amount of fuel left in the tank in liters. In America where we use quarts / gallons, Quarts remaining would be better. 3rd: the readout for power output is in kilowatts, so the total kw is 2.0kw - 2.5kw, we use wattage to determine load / how many appliance we can power with a generator. So a reading in watts would be far more useful than in kilowatts. 4th: The digital readout rolls between each of 4 readouts, with a letter in front to indicate what the reading signifies. L = for fuel remaining ? how about F for fuel F = for remaining runtime? how about T for time I would like a way to add an external fuel tank for longer run times. Other than these items, I'm happy with my iGen2500 and would recommend it!

Perfect Generator

I bought this to run power tools on jobsites and it runs everything I need it to. It starts on the first pull every time and is amazingly quite. I have used it for a 12" miter saw, and a 10" table saw so I know it will be there when I need it for smaller tools as well. Quite is a total understatement!! I have never used another brand and can't figure out any reason to.

Runs smooth and quite

Had trouble getting this unit started out of the box. Added oil and fuel and nothing. Drained gas and then it fired up first pull. Must have been something in the carb or tank that blocked it. Runs great now. Very quite and starts first pull every time . This will be used to run my fifth wheel . Should be good.

IGen2500 - Second gen

This is the second generator of a 2 generator set. I plan to purchase a paralleling cable to tie both gens together for more power while dry camping. Plan is to run a 13,500 BTU A/C, the build-in 12V battery charger, and a microwave/coffee maker/hair dryer (pick one). It pretty much loads up the 30 amp cable. The 2 gens together should provide 30 Amps+. Wife is happy that she will not be power limited or at least no more limited then she already is. I am happy that I can lift the units and put them in the back of the truck. One problem is the paralleling cable is out of stock and backordered. Should be in in a few weeks. BTW the second IGen ran fine. Still need to order a rain tent.
