Lightweight and starts up on the first try!

We bought this inverter generator for our travel trailer as we wanted something that was light/portable and has dual fuel options. The set up instructions are clear, and there are no manufacturing defects with the unit. It looks to be well made. It started up on the first try, and we are finishing up the burn in period this week.

Features are exactly what I was looking for.

This was my first purchase of a generator and could not be more pleased with the selection and performance along with a very reasonable price. Easy to follow the user's manual which is very thorough, excellent lay-out of controls with simple receptacle connections for my fridge, lights etc. Exterior appears to be durable for moving, traveling and storage.

It does the job

I was a little nervous about the start up, but it comes with plenty of clear instructions. The start up was easy and it does the job I needed it to do. Not as quiet as I would like, but significantly quieter than my big generator. We're using it for our teardrop camper, so we can have A/C in the hot Texas summer. We also needed something that wasn't going to draw attention to us when we camp out.

iGEn2550DFc - Exactly what I needed

Here in the PNW we frequently get ice storms which knock down overhead power lines disrupting local power from a few hours to weeks. I needed a easy to use, yet powerful enough, generator to start our gas furnace when the winter ice storms hit. The Westinghouse iGen 2550DFC inverter arrived within a week of ordering in perfect condition. I'm new to portable generator use so I read the instruction manual first - it all made sense. I love it that Westinghouse included the engine oil, tools, propane couplings, and everything I needed to get the generator ready for use. When I had the generator ready it only took tool pulls to fire up the gas engine. Voila - the furnace started and kept on running. I shut the engine off after 20 minutes, let it cool down and then re-ran the test using the propane fuel. Once again - the iGEn 2550DFRC did its job perfectly. I hope I don't have to use the invertor generator too soon but, when the next ice storm hits I know this little gem is reliable and powerful enough to help keep the house warm and a few lights on until the weather passes.

First inverter/generator

I bought this generator primarily to recharge my electric battery generators. It is more than adequate to recharge both of them with additional power to spare. The instructions provided were clear to understand. It is easy to fill and check the oil level. Changing the oil in the future should easy and clean. I connected my unit to Propane, and it started up on the first pull, which surprised me! Subsequent startups were just as easy. I plan to use only Propane so I don't have to drain the carburetor bowl for storage. It's nice to have the option to use gas though. On start up, I checked out the Eco feature and it idled at a lower speed as it should. The first load I put on it was an electric heater and it handled that well. It drew about 1500 W. The noise level seems moderate. It actually sounds quieter than the video provided. Well, I'm very happy with this inverter generator and will possibly buy another.

Just right

After reviewing several portable generators I chose the iGen2550. The iGen2550 was perfect for what I intend to use it for, not too big and not to small. Mainly as a power source for sump pump should power go out. Best of all it's quite and even at 70 years old and suffering from COPD I can still move it around. Yes, there was others, but none could match the Westinghouse reviews.

Great Little Generator

Purchased the iGEN2550 dual fuel in early October 2024 because hurricane Helene left our marina without power and this is the only way to charge the boat's batteries. The unit started fairly easy (it took a few pulls of the cord) and ran very quiet. The only issue I found was locating the serial number. Instructions say to look in the information label (not there), then during product registration the instruction to locate the serial number says it is under the exhaust (not there either). So I found a large number/letter combination that I used, I hope that is the correct serial number. Another number (CRA0281) was with the user manual, but I don't know if this is correct.

JUST IN TIME BEFORE THE WINTER BLUES

WE BOUGHT THIS GENERATOR AS A RESULT OF THE HURRICANES LAST SEASON. DETERMINED TO HAVE SOMETHING IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY, THIS PRODUCT WAS THE RIGHT FIT FOR OUR HOUSEHOLD. LIGHT WEIGHT, EASILY PORTABLE AND THE OPTION TO USE PROPANE OR GAS WERE THE ULTIMATE SELLING POINT. WOULD RECOMMEND FOR HOUSEHOLD USE.

In Time of Desperate Need, Generator Came Through

Midwest spring snowstorm power outage caused sump pump failure - flooded basement. Frantically driving from store to store before all were closed for the night, found this Westinghouse available 45 minutes away. Bought online one of the two available and hustled down the highway. Have never used a generator, but instructions were easy to understand and machine is easy to operate. Feared overfilling the oil, knowing how that can damage engines, so filled very slowly. The bottle of oil included must be the correct amount for initial filling - if this is correct, I would recommend stating that in the written instructions. This generator got us back on track by getting the sump pump going - we only had that one load of the sump pump, but this unit has 2 USB ports (along with the 2 20A receptacles and one 30A receptacle) if we had needed to charge phones. Glad we have this in our home, wish we had it earlier and definitely recommend this as a wedding gift. Every home should have one!
