Excellent purchase

The top of one knife rusted the very first time my husband washed it in the dishwasher. The knives don't always cut food which we always cut. And the scissors are too short to cut through some things. Wish there was a paring knife and wish I had not bought this set. Our old worn-out set which we have had for years is still much better than this.

Beautiful, sharp knives! The self-sharpening block is necessary for me because I cannot stand the sound of sharpening knives. I am very happy with the price and quality of this knife set. The only thing I don't like about it is the depth of the knife block - I had my previous set in my cupboard so it didn't get dusty and gross, but this set doesn't fit so I have to keep them on my counter and get a cover for it. If a dust cover would've been included I would be ecstatic!

Purchased these in the club, and 2 months later, rust spots on 6 knives.

The first week I had them they started rusting ridiculous Now I throw the box now I can’t return them.

We bought this several weeks ago. The block and knives are very well made, a nice set of items. And they look so nice. BUT ... But these knives are not manufactured in a way to protect the surfaces within dishwashers. You only see this in the little care and use booklet that comes with the product. It says .. We recommend hand wash and dry ... avoid the dishwasher whose humid environment and corrosive chemicals can be damaging to the knives. (I would replace the world Could with WILL .. as rust rapidly appears .. and then this is Florida so when ISN'T it Humid sigh). This little detail should be mentioned as PART of the product description and NOT for after you buy it. We'll be seeking to return these to SAM's ASAP. A product not made for dishwasher use in the 21st Century? That is not a premium product in my mind. And it is a shame as they are well made and look so nice. And all they had to do was treat them like almost everyone else in the modern world does and presto no problems. But it seems all the Henckel products are like this due to laws in Germany.
