Saved $300 by shopping around

I was worried a little because it came in a plain box with just the cord and nothing else. But it is perfect and I have had zero problems. It is old enough that the regular life warranty is about to expire, but had i been interested in the extended warranty it would have been very easy to sign up for it. I was prompted several times to get the extention beforw it expires. Everything about this laptop is perfect. I saved at least $300 by getting an "open box" laptop. I had $500 to spend and because I shopped around I was able to get an 850 computer for 550. Also, it came very fast!!

Much better than expected

I’ve been a true Dell fan for decades. My Dell laptop is 11 years old. She could no longer be upgraded and was running slow even with cleanups and resets. Sam’s had a great deal on this HP and I took the leap. Much lighter in weight. Extremely fast. Backlit keyboard with large keys. Easy setup. Comes with 2 year protection and much cheaper than buying a new Dell. I’m happy with my HP!!!!!!

Better than expectations

Better than I thought it would be - been using for a couple of weeks and has been excellent so far. No glitches or problems. Solid, clear, versatile.

An excellent laptop

Purchased 2-2024. I was looking for a 15" Envy and luck being what it is, none were in stock. I have a history of purchasing the 17.3" laptops. The brands: HP, Toshiba, and Dell. HP has been the better, most reliable of the 3 brands. I have a Envy 17.3" I7-6X series that lasted around 8-9 years; it just died. It gave me great, reliable service. I replaced it with a 15.6" Envy i7-11X series purchased May, 2022. The Envy 17.3" I7-12X purchase gave me a system I was already familiar with. The touchscreen works well, though it does not support a Bamboo pen (the 15.6 i7-11X does). Setup was quick, though the initial operating system update took a couple of hours. Setting up the multiple screens at home and work was quick. Performance on both work and home networks is excellent. The work and home networks are both wired and WiFi. The home network is an Express VPN Aircove 6X router that effortlessly handles several laptops and televisions with no reduction in speed to any of the connected devices. The 17.3" laptop is carried as an "extra" laptop for both general and work use. Not the lightest; though compared to other 17.3" laptops, it is relatively light and solidly built. I use the built-in keyboard and an external Logitech mouse; the touch pad is always enabled and I am slowly getting use to it. Overall performance is excellent (5 out of 5); the screen is excellent (5 out of 5), portability is good (4 out of 5). The keyboard is firm, responds well to touch typing. Startup and shutdown times are good (5 out of 5), due mainly to the SSD. The SSD is 512GB, which is ok, though more memory would be a plus (4 out of 5). A definite recommendation. The 12X series provides speed and performance for what it was purchased for.

Computer great/Tech support not great

I love the backlit keyboard! I love how I can multitask without being slowed down. I love how easy it was to set up my wireless printer. What I don't like is not having any employee at Sam's that works in the tech dept. I had a lot of questions that I couldn't get answered. I had a hard time registering my extra care 2 yr warranty and the HP customer service number did not tell me how to do it. They created a case number which was totally ridicules. Then they sent an email that had no link to send the warranty. I called and was left on hold and eventually got cut off. That being said I hope I don't have any future problems as the past one was unresolved. This has windows 11 on it which is why I made the purchase as my 6 year old computer had windows10

Great Laptop

I just purchased this Laptop on sale. Unfortunately it doesn't come with a cd/dvd player (which I knew) or a memory card reader (which I did not know from advertisement). This laptop run great, very fast. I would have rated it a 10 except for the missing memory card reader.

Great laptop but screen is too heavy for hinges

I bought a different version of the same laptop. Everything is great about it with the exception of the 17.3 screen. The problem with the screen is that it is too heavy for the bottom half of the laptop to hold it properly. Over time the hinges start to get loose and before you know it the screen has almost totally come apart from the keyboard. Instead of your screen sitting in an upright position, the screen will lean back in a position that makes it hard to work on it. You may have to do what I did and prop something up against the back of it. Again, laptop would be great if screen weren’t too heavy for the hinges.

Confusing dates on delivery and warranty

The computer is working fine. I do have a great concern about the warranty. The computer came with a two year care package. I went to the sites listed on the pamphlet inside the carton and could not find anywhere I could activate the care package. However, while on the site I did find that the computer factory warranty had been activated 3 months ago. I just received the computer 4 days ago. Also, Sam’s Club sent me an email stating “Good news - your computer was delivered early.” The delivery date, however, given to me at purchase was over a week ago. They sent me an email on that stating that there was a problem and that the delivery would be delayed. I didn’t get the computer early as stated.

Wasn't for us

The computer looked great on display in the store. However, in the home environment the screen was dull and the volume was very low when set all the way up. Easy return.

HP do not know anyting about this laptop

Hp is a crooked shady company. Do not believe the warranty in the description above. I just bought this today (Dec 2024) I haven't opened the package just yet. I contacted HP with the model number to find out some more info on it and was told it is discontinued. The lady couldnt tell me anything about it and just kept trying to sell me another one. If HP doesn't have any info on their own product or even make it any longer how are they going to service it or offer any type of support? I registered the laptop on the site to see what was up. There isnt any two year care pack warranty or accidental damage unless you pay more money. There is a one year manufacturer warranty from time of purchase but mine said there was only six months and a few days left. My printer seemed to start acting crazy I kid you not, five days after the warranty expired. I could not get any type of service or help. The way these things are remotely connected they can manipulate these products and get you to buy more warranty stuff from them. It is a racket. Hp will end up burning down. I will return it tomorrow. I sure do miss the real customer service of 20 years ago. It is long gone...
