Spoiled before the "Best by" date

I bought this on December 9 and the item was best used by December 31, 2023 (see pics). I noticed some spots on the bacon tonight, December 28, but didn't think much of it so I cooked some up. The rest I packaged and put in the freezer. Upon first bite, I could tell that the spots weren't nothing--the bacon had already gone bad. I live an hour from the nearest Sam's club as I was visiting a friend. I feel let down by Sam's and Wright's.
