I have bought Miracle-Gro potting mix as my go-to planting medium for years. I just purchased a new bag and the quality is horrible. Wat used to be nice silky rich dirt is now sticks and rocks. I am very disappointed with this stuff. They are now passing off and selling as if it were the same quality as the old mixture. It is as if they learned from the illegal drug industry and are cutting their product with cheap crap to turn more of a profit. It as a 1-star rating because I suppose you could use it for mulch after you try to use it for plants.

I bought 20 bags of this in the fall and was greatly disappointed. There were a LOT of pieces of wood in it, not huge pieces but full of twigs and small pieces of wood. I usually use this in late winter/early spring to start seed and its just not suitable for that anymore. The soil also seems to compact more than is healthy for potted plants and especially for seeds. I'll never buy it again.

Have used this for many summers. Love how it makes flowers grow bigger and better. Need to make sure it's moist all through the potting mix when initially planting flowers. Seemed to have a few more pieces of sticks this time. Best price I've found in my area.

We tried the moisture control potting mix a couple of years ago in outside containers for geraniums. All of the pots became water-logged and the plants either died or severely stunted with mold on the top. When you pulled up the roots there was very little root development. Yes the pots all had drainage holes. My wife vowed we would never again buy the moisture control product. Last week I went into Sam's Club to buy potting soil and the moisture control product was all that was available so I thought I'd give it another try. I re-potted 20 dormant, bare-root geraniums in new pots with drainage holes to place under grow lights to get an early start on the season. I watered each pot to settle the soil around the roots. Three days later the soil is still fully saturated. If you press it with your fingers water comes out the bottom of the pots as well as pooling on the surface. When you release it the surface water reabsorbs like a saturated sponge. This is entirely too saturated for a geranium and I expect if left there would eventually stunt or kill the plant. The product just won't drain off excess water. I will be buying replacement potting mix and re-potting all of them.

Great product. I've used for many years for my summer outdoor container plantings. I do add additional slow release fertilizer in the top 3 inches of the potting mix used. Everyone raves about my container gardens. They are show stoppers. Note this is a potting mix not a soil.

These berries should not have been sold. Most were moldy and way over ripe. I had to throw out.
