Purchased a Food Saver VS3170, looks to be the same model. Does not make an airtight seal when sealing meats. It tries to vacuum the juices out of the meat and will not make a good seal. When you unlock the unit to remove the bag, the air returns. I read on the Food Saver web site to freeze the meat and then seal it in the bags. This is against the whole purpose of buying this unit. I suppose if you want to take cereal out of the sealed container you purchase it in and put it into smaller sealed containers, this might be a handy tool. If you looking to save last night's roast for dinner in a couple of weeks, not so much. I'm just going to go back to tupperware and zip-lock bags for storing food. Simple and proven.

I mostly use this product to prep meals for soups vide cooking. It does a great job of getting the air out and sealing the bags. I like to make a big batch of spaghetti sauce and portion it out into freezer bags. The handheld vacuum bonus product came in handy for that. Five stars!

The food saver is compact, light, and easy to use! I've used my vacuum sealer on ALL my meat and it works so well and is so easy to use! I've created SO MUCH SPACE in my freezer!! The replacement bags are very affordable and will not break the bank. And the handheld vacuum is amazing!! I swear, there is nothing that thing cannot seal!! 10/10 recommend!!

It’s super simple to use, the pre-made bags are simple to just fill and go. The rolls make it simple to adjust the bags to what you need. It’s so simple, you cut, seal, stuff and vacuum. Done! I got 4 pounds of ground beef, 5 pounds of chicken breasts and 10 pork chops vacuum sealed and in the freezer in under an hour! The zipper bags are fantastic for cheese and deli meats, and with the hand held vacuum my son can even do it after making a sandwich! This has helped to cut down on my grocery bill!!!

I looked at it & said to myself this can’t be easier than wrapping & bagging! BUT IT IS! The Foodsaver is so easy to use. ( and fun) it is the smartest way to save food. My frozen meats look as red a month later as they did the day I sealed them. From big roast beefs to portioned sized ground beef. The money I’m saving buying in bulk & using the food saver is ingenious! And cleaning up is simple, with the drip tray. The hand held sealer is a game changer for chips, veggies & fruits. Now that I live on my own, I do meal prep on a budget for my meals for the week. The Foodsaver vacuum sealer machine is a great tool. Also great for doing sous vide for meats and vegetables. The vacuum sealer works great and is very handy to have in any kitchen.

It does sometimes act a little picky about placement but I think the more I use it the better I get with it. When I do get it right the machine is really nice, taking all the air out and sealing up great. The machine feels sturdy, not cheap, and should last a long time. The pre-cut bags are great and work for us (two in our house).

I bought this machine with the intentions of saving my meat items from freezer burn. As soon as I received it, I read the manual and went to work sealing the items I had wrapped and frozen in zip lock bags. It was easy to do, I really enjoyed using the machine, worked like a champ.

This model is extremely user friendly and easy to use. This kit really has everything you need to get started. The seal is air tight every time keeping food fresh in the freezer for months. The handheld sealer is cool. I wish I worked for more things than the specific baggies, but that’s ok. I will need to get more of those. In my opinion… every household, big or small, needs a Foodsaver.
