Quiet, powerful and reliable - a dual fuel generat

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The build is solid, everything looks professional and well thought out. Started up from the first time! What I was particularly pleased with is that it is very quiet, especially compared to other models. It doesn't rattle, doesn't scare the neighbors, doesn't disturb my sleep. You can safely turn on at night. The power is enough for the refrigerator, and for lighting, and for charging appliances at the same time. Works both on gasoline and propane - convenient when one of the options runs out. The digital panel is simple and straightforward, you can see everything: how many watts are being used, how much time is left - a complete sense of control. And yes, its weight (122 pounds) can be felt, but on wheels it rolls easily like a suitcase, not dragging with effort. In general Generac iQ3800 is peace of mind in any situation: blackout, going out with family, working remotely - it will not let you down. Beautiful, powerful, smart - I recommend it 100%. Yes, the Generac iQ3800 DF generator does support both gasoline and liquefied propane operation. This is confirmed by the model's official specifications - Dual Fuel: Runs on gasoline or liquid propane, providing flexibility in the choice of energy source. - Run time: up to 13 hours on gasoline and up to 16 hours on a 20-pound propane tank at 50% load. - Power: 3,000 watts in run mode and up to 3,800 watts when running on gasoline; 2,700 watts in run mode and up to 3,400 watts when running on propane.

Lasted 3 years

I estimate I got a little over 1200 hours of use before the 120V port to the inverter fried rendering the otherwise perfectly running and maintained generator useless and shortened my already expensive camping trip. When I explained the issue to customer service, I was told I needed the control panel so I ordered it. While waiting a month for that part ($150) ordered an identical unit as my backup thinking running in parallel could be handy at some point. The control panel came and I found out it wasn't the part I needed. I looked for the inverter part and was amazed that the replacement inverter costs more than the whole unit cost me to replace. Hindsight being 20/20, I would have replaced it with something else.

Best overall but still lacks features

After extensive research I chose this for my RV as a dry camp accessory. It is the best value in inverter generators, but lacks one major feature. No wheels or handles, and there are none available as aftermarket add ons. Very cumbersome to manage without them, since it is quite heavy. Otherwise it has everything I wanted, and is reasonable quiet.

Got me through a 4 day power outage

Power was out from 8PM on Wednesday to 11:30AM Sunday. This little machine ran flawlessly with nothing more than a couple refuels. Ran my furnace, refrigerator, a couple lights, my TV, and my CPAP machine with barely a hiccup. Ran for over 8 hours if not 10 on a single fuel up. Just need to change the oil and check the spark plug so it's ready for a monthly test and hopefully stays in the garage for a very long time. Good to know it is there when needed. Maybe a camping trip or two this summer!

Lasted as long as the warrantie

Did my research and decided to buy a gp3000i, mainly to run the AC on my 28 foot rv. Used it a few times during power outages, etc did fine. Kept a log on how many hours, when it ran last, etc. trying to maximize my investment so the gen would last. Made a cover to keep it clean and protected. Took the trailer on a 5 month trip this year and was using just to run the ac during the heat of the day. It started failing by just quiting. It would restart ok and keep running for a while till it died again. This went on for a week or two. Some days it would work fine, others it would fail several times. Then it would start fine and would die when the ac kicked on, like it didn't have enough power... but we managed to get it running and keep the trailer cool. Then all it broke loose. I heard it cough like a carb issue, then die. Went to restart it and as I pulled on the cord, I saw and heard big sparks inside the cover. Even with the switch on off, when you pulled the cord sparks would fly. 2 years and 2 months after my purchase I called support. They opened a service ticket. Gave me the number of 2 places in phoenix where I could have it looked at. Neither place works with generac anymore. Called service again, 5 location in phoenix would not handle generac service anymore due to issues. Finally one place would look at it, they took my gen and shipped to Tucson where they had a certified tech... Long story sorry, tech calls back said the circuit board is fried, like I didn't know that, and the kicker... it cost more to buy the part then to get a new gen. Also, I'm 2 months over the warranty... The tech , very nice and honest with me, said the gen wasn't worth anything so I decided to discard it.. He recommended I buy a different brand, one more reliable if you can read between the lines. Bottom line, it worked fine, did what it was supposed to do, but was not reliable, then died. For 800 bucks I expected much much more...finding a service dealer was a pain.

Solid Quality Construction

I have a iQ2000 and wanted another Generac with more wattage. Bought this for camping and as a backup to our larger generator. Arrived in perfect condition, started on the second pull (very smooth) and started later with the electric start. Followed all recommended break in procedures and it is very quiet for a generator this size. It's 109 lbs. dry so I built a dolly for maneuverability in my building. Highly recommend the iQ3500!

Love It !!!

I purchased this portable generator for use around my farm and as a power source when camping. I was pleasantly surprised at how quite it operates and the Fuel Gauge, Time to Run and Power Usage read-outs are wonderful. I removed from the box, put in oil and pulled rope twice to make that initial start. A big plus is my wife likes it too. Great Product, Excellent Reputation, Top Notch Quality

Excellent and can be better.

I am a event rental company owner. We rent generators for many different applications. Purchased us to run our restroom trailers which have RV generators. What we really liked about it is that one person could move it. It is very quiet. We would love to see this with an EFI option.
