I never leave reviews. And I'm the person that wondered why people say that. I assumed it's either because they may be trying to persuade someone either or way, who may be on the fence about buying a product. They are satisfied or dissatisfied. In this case, I am highly satisfied. The pergola is great. A few minor cracks in one of the 4 main corner posts, due to shipping I am assuming. I didn't call or complain, I didn't notice to I had put it up. It should be okay. I bought 2 months ago. It's been up a month now. Took about 7 hours over two days. I did alone. I had my wife to the corner post once I stood each side up. I attached all the separated parts together first in the garage. Then moved to the outside to set up. Went very smoothly. This Pergola looks outstanding! Its a great addition to our backyard. It was very easy to anchor, which I thought it wouldn't be. I haven't noticed anything wrong with it, but i haven't sat and stared at it either. It would be nice if a cover was sold for it. So if anyone has any suggestions on that, plz share!

We bought this earlier this year after pricing out the materials to build one. This one was less expensive and arrived with perfectly cut pieces that were easy to assemble. It's exactly as it appears in the ads and we've received numerous comments about how attractive it is.

I purchased the 14x10 pergola last fall and absolutely love it. I put it together myself over the course of a weekend (without an extra set of hands, I had to be creative and used step ladders to lean sections upright when fastening together). It’s trickier that way…but still manageable. I was amazed at how well the pieces were marked. Most pre-drilled holes were lined up well, except for a few where I simply had to help with a drill. I have it on our back deck, which has created an entirely new feel and an outdoor oasis - almost like a bonus room. Now I am just looking for some type of cloth shade covering to add on for additional sun protection. BYD - do you have any recommendations?

The pergola is well thought through in terms of its design. Each part is marked, the hardware comes in labeled bags. The accompanying BILT program makes it very easy to visualize. One improvement would be a diagram showing the exact center locations of the four posts.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We purchased this pergola for my mother-in-law's ADU. We hired our two contractors to assemble it and it only took 4 hours. They spent some additional time installing a cover and staining it. It looks great, provides a good amount of shade, and keeps the furniture dry. For a cover, I purchased 8mm pearlescent Polycarbonate panels and accessories. I stenciled maples leaves on top using 3 colors of rustoleum--for decoration and to provide a bit more shade. We love the results.

Mine has been up for 2 months now and it has completely transformed my patio. Installation is a breeze if you can follow simple directions and take your time. My wife and I put our pergola together in about 4-5 hours. The quality of the materials is much more nicer than any other pergola kit I have seen at the big box stores, I’m confident it will last for many years.

I really like the way it looks. The new mods of a seat and eating bar on the opposite side have made this product even better. It doesn't provide much shade, so I put 2 x 4's in between the roof 2 x 2's and it gives us shade from the hit Texas sun. X

A month had almost gone by and we finally got our money back, I called Backyard Discovery direct and within a few days as promised we got our Pergalo and simply love it! Thank you for working with us!

I bought this a month ago and am pretty happy with the product. Instructions were good, but with warped wood for some pieces, the hardware was barely connecting. We found it easier to assemble the frame upside down, and it would have been better to assemble right next to the final location due to the weight.
