- 4 out of 5 stars review7/29/2011These trash cans are exactally what i was looking for. The 13 gal. can is a nice size for my kitchen and i use the smaller one in my bathroom. They work just as they are described. Wave your hand across the sensor and the lid opens, walk away, and a short time later the lid closes automatacally. This is a great buy.

Got it home, installed the batteries, waved my hand and it DID NOT open. The open/close button works only if the switch is powered on. The trash can has to be directly under bright light for the sensor to pick up motion. I have a brightly lightened kitchen but unless I want the trash can to sit directly in the middle of the floor, I will continue to use the manual open/close button. Other than that, it looks great.

They tend to be unhelpful because some people write a review when they get home and open the box. When I read a review, I do not care how your package was damaged. That is a truck delivery issue and not a product review. I also do not like reviews that say whether or not the product is great after 2 hours of receiving it. Big deal. My reason for buying a product is: over time, how does it hold up? Saying all that, my family loves the touchless trashcans, especially the larger model. In the kitchen, we are frequently with dirty hands or messy from mixing eggs, wiping runny kids noses, etc. How freeing to only move your hand in front of the sensor so we don't have to touch the trash can...

I put the kitchen one in the only place it can go, but it's a high traffic area. The can opens every time someone walk by. I read the reviews before purchasing these and didn't see this issue with anyone else. I may return them.

It has a silver exterior and runs on 4 "D" batteries, so it is slightly different than the one shown here that has a black exterior and runs on "C" batteries. We love our trash can and people who see it in our home are always exclaiming that they want one like it. It has also lasted remarkably well; we are still on the first set of batteries even though they are 2 years old. So we bought this newer model (black exterior/C batteries) when we saw it on sale for under $40 because we knew we would find someone to give it to. The only con is you have to be very close enough to the sensor or just press the button, but not a big deal. Had it for over a year. Changed battery only twice.

The smaller can is quite small and more suited to a place where a trash can isn't often needed. This could be used for compost which would be very handy when your hands are full of peelings, etc. It's a bit too large in my opinion for a kitchen counter but it's small profile could have it close to the cupboard doors by the sink on the floor. It must be a ghost...because I know my kids aren't throwing away their trash. Changed the batteries, but it still has a mind of it's own. Can be very annoying to be in a different room and hearing the lid opening and closing continuously---my kids were freaked out by it at first.

I live in deep south Texas and we are still having 96 degree weather. The bugs dont like the heat any better that I do, surrounding the garbage can really be disgusting especially as it fills up. This kitchen can is very large, I was pleasantly surprised at the size. This can is not a cheapy looking can, the bags are 13 gallon The brushed silver is the same as my Frigidaier appliances. The lid opens as you put your hand on top of the can. It stays open plenty of time to scrap off the dishes. The lid closes tighly securing the trash from any smells and any bugs can not get into. Works as expected - wave your hand over the tall one, or even a knee above the sensor for the short one. They open quickly. Standard trash bags work, so you can keep using what you already have. An interior can IS included! Of note, can't keep little one next to pedastool sink or toilet. Their closeness activates the lid to open and it won't close. Just move to other wall..

- 5 out of 5 stars review8/11/2018Nice kitchen trash can that is just the right size to fill a 13 gal trash bag. It’s so nice not to have to touch the lid. The sensor won’t close on your hand if it takes you longer shoving something in better. This can is the same price or less as others it’s size but come with a free small sensor trash can that we use in our office. The large one comes with a switch to turn the sensor off and on. So if you go away a few weeks you can save your batteries. Large can takes C size and small takes D size.
Two for the price of one! Nice cans; great value!

We love it and we have not had to replace anything but the batteries. My family liked it so much they all bought one. The 13 gallon bags fits nicely and it is slim enough not to be intrusive. When the average stainless steel can cost $50 and above why not by this one and not have to touch the can. For me this was a great buy!

We were moving when we bought these trash cans and with most moves comes lots of trash. It was nice to not have to fumble with a trash can lid. Now that we are moved in, it comes in handy when I am cooking or trying to get ready to take out the trash. The only negative I can think of is that because the little trash can has a removable bin, it doesn't hold a trash bag very well.

Even in a small, cottage-type kitchen of WW2 vintage-era, they are nicely-rounded, not square-edged, it's a small deal for some, but I have MS. I find that point invaluable, one more thing I need, but won't bump against and bruise! Square edged bins have sharp and unforgiving corners. In every other way, these are super sleek, the lid operation is so handy, and remains undisturbed by normal foot traffic. A bonus was the fwo=fer. Great deal, happy camper!
