I did the three, it still will not work Bertha C/S said have 2 options. 1.) You can send in the product for a replacement -- AT YOUR EXPENSE FOR SHIPPING 2.) You can return it to the vendor and either get a refund or order a replacement. POOR.... product, that this product, and the company's return policy is literally GARBAGE. DON''T BUT IT.....

We replaced the batteries only once and it certainly isn't dented. It works well and has held up well. I would caution you, NOT to submerge the top to clean it. That's what I did yesterday. But we love it so much we're replacing it. It was my bad it was destroyed. I'll be more careful with the new one.

This is inferorating seeing how it was the most expensive garbage can we have ever bought. We are very disappointe. I needed a large one for my nursery and a small one for my bathroom. I gave up the diaper genie and purchased this large stainless steel trash can hoping it would mask the smell pretty well with using my regular garbage bags that I use in my kitchen trash can. It's working very well so far so good however if there is a poopy diaper and there I only smell it once the lid has been opened as long as the lid remains closed everything is all good so normally when I change a diaper I will throw it away as soon as I'm getting redy to exit the room. The large trash can is perfect for the kitchen and we use the small one for the powder room. Everyone that uses the trash cans always ask where we got them from and how can they get them. The batteries have been going strong for 7 months now and have not needed to replace them. The build quality of the cans are great. They wipe down extremely easy and the stainless steal finish looks terrific. Because there is nothing to push, pull, kick, step on, etc to open the lids, the sanitation aspect alone is above anything else. I promise you will not be disappointed if you make this purchase. The manual tops I had before would either be removed, left open or thrown away accidently with the trash. The trash can also fascinates my grandkids so they throw their trash away just to see it work.

No trash problem from my pet anymore, my German Shepperd has not been able to open it, Hurray. It's funny when people ask you how you open it. Great conversation piece with lots of laughs about it.

- 1 out of 5 stars review8/20/2016Ordered this 2-item set from Walmart online. It arrived in a timely manner. The small trash can works great, but the large trash can sensor never worked. I can manually press the Open/Close buttons and that works but not the automatic lid sensor. No matter how many times I swipe my hand over the sensor, it never worked. I called Nine Stars customer service. They said to turn the On/Off switch to Off and remove the batteries for 24 hours. I asked why for 24 hours (seems strange to me for a reboot) and the rep couldn't answer why. At any rate, I did exactly as she said and the sensor still doesn't work. I am taking this back to Walmart this weekend. Very disappointing and a waste of my time. Maybe I just had the bad luck to get a bad set.

Now that I have moved, I gave my old large can to my daughter and put the little one in my new guest bathroom. I bought this set so I have a new kitchen can and the little one is now in my new bath room. The original set is about 2 years old. The little can still has the original batteries in it and is showing no signs of dying anytime soon. With the large can the battery door fell off one day and wound up going out with the trash by accident. Upon unboxing we found a really great looking trash can, but then inserted the batteries to find the motion sensor DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. We have tried all kinds of movement, taken the batteries out. Nothing. Works just fine when pressing the open close buttons but not why we bought this. Again, it’s gorgeous but we will probably move on to a different brand once we get this all returned.

It does not have a bucket it is only the stainless steel and you drop a bag in there and it has a little guard going around the top to hopefully hold it in place. I thought about sending it back but I didn’t want to full with the return process. I am going to keep an eye on it but my fear is dropping wet stuff in the trash (uneaten plate of spaghetti) and it dripping out of the bottom of the bag and messing the can up. A few days later I can say it only works intermittently and it arrived with surface scratches on the top which affected how nice it looked. The most annoying part is it may or may not open when it should. We'll probably return and try another.

The big trash can takes "C" batteries and the small trash can takes "D" batteries. I hope that the batteries will last because it could get pricey if it doesnt.
