Great flavor! I use it to make cheese w/scramble eggs. I just add it to the eggs and make them in chunks like little omelettes. Then I serve them with ranchero salsa. Mmm very delicious. No need to add salt since this cheese already has enough salt

I LOVE THIS CHEESE. This brand is the first time I've ever tried cotija, and now I can't stand to be without it! It goes beautifully in pretty much ANY dish that you might add cheese to--I've added it to eggs, spaghetti, veggies, rice, salads, mashed potatoes... pretty much everything, including some stuff I might not have thought to try with cheese! (Okay, maybe not to ice cream or brownies.) The taste reminds me most of feta, but more so; it has a very strong flavor. A little goes a long way, making it a surprisingly low calorie alternative, because if what you're after is the TASTE of cheese, you can replace a much larger quantity of another cheese with just a bit of cotija. Since cotija doesn't melt, I can't use it to replace ALL cheeses, but with the exception of grilled cheese sandwiches, whenever I use some other cheese I add at least a dab of cotija to it, as well. :) The only problem is that Walmart keeps being out of stock of it! Argh!! Please get it back immediately or sooner, Walmart!!!!!

really different from what this gringo is used to. its ground fine like powder, a different taste from what I'm used to. not a bad taste, but definitely different.

Excellent to eat out of the bag, add in an alfredo sauce for richer savory flavor, or even as a melt to most melt sandwiches or on toasted bagel. This cheese taste is good.
