Finally, someone designed a gate with small children and pets in mind! I purchassed this gate to keep my puppy in one section of the house. She was able to either climb or jump over every other type gate we purchased, plus my children felt trapped from her. If they wanted to play with her I had to carry them over the other gates and then take them out when they were through. This is designed so that it is easy enough for them to open and close the doorway themselves, BUT it does have a locking mechanism so that I can keep my 3 year old from playing with it as well. I can't say enough positive things about the height and verticle desgin of the bars. I no longer have to worry about my children or pets getting hurt trying to climb over! The tension bars were a bit tricky to figure out, but once you realize how they work, they secure to the wall perfectly. This product is a great value and should be carried in every Walmart store, not just online. I would have purchased several of these gates a long time ago had I known they existed. As with anything new, read your instructions and have patience when installing. The gate does work and you will be very pleased!!

Keeps our Boston Terrier in the laundry room while we're away! She was able to clear the other gates we tried. Perfect for what I was trying to accomplish. Easy enough for my 5 year old to operate. Half the price of the Carlton gate I was about to purchase from PetSmart. Very pleased : )

Before buying this gate, I read all the reviews to see if people said it was effective for cats. At least a couple of reviewers said it worked well for theirs, which is impossible to believe unless they have REALLY large cats, REALLY stupid cats, or the product has been redesigned since their reviews. My cats walked right through, and they're average-size. So disappointing. Especially so since I had to buy two--the first arrived without the six-inch extension. However, WalMart did give me an adjustment on the price when I complained. If you're buying this for a child or mid-sized dog, it's worth a try. It seemed like a quality product for the price, and it's the tallest walk-through gate I found. I was planning to install mine a few inches off the floor for a little extra height.

I have a super tall 2 yr old that could hop any gate. This one works well cuz it's extra tall ( most stores only carry 36 in as extra tall).. The open bars are nice cuz she can see thru but not have anything to use to climb over. The walk way is a little narrow. Thankful to have sleep again, and a sleeping child!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We got this gate so we can keep our toddlers out of certain rooms in the house. This gate is really tall and even my dogs cant jump it. The only thing i wish it had was self closing door i have to open it and turn around and lock it.

It is worth the price. I bought it to keep my dog locked up in the laundry room. So far its just barely high enough that she can't jump it, and its sturdy enough to keep a 60 pound dog locked in. At first it's a litte difficult to figure out since the lock only latches when the gate has pressure pushing on all sides. After the first try you'll realize how it works and that it is actually very easy to use in about an doorway. It would be nice if it was a few inches taller and the gate opening was a little wider. Otherwise its a very good product.

Like a lot of folks reviewing this gate I bought it to control our dogs.We have a shorter gate but a couple of our dogs could jump over it,this one has stopped that. The gate is well made & the black finish is nice..but there are 2 things that I wish were different. First one is I wish the product was just a little bit wider so you didn't have to spread the the stem mounts out so far in an average door way,it makes it a bit unstable. But it does come with some wall mounts to secure it better,so that helped. And the actual entry gate could be a bit wider. Secondly the gate has a stop at the bottom(which I intend to cut off) which prevents it from swinging both ways.So depending on where you install it,it has swing either in or out & it gets in the way.But like I said I'm going to fix that problem. The gate is tall,I'm 6'2" & the gate comes to my waist. As I previously mention the walk through is a bit narrow,so I could see it being a problem for a shorter person walking through carrying a child or basket of clothes etc. Also when the latch is fully latched with the locking mechanism in place it's almost a two handed operation to open it. With all that being said it's still a good product & fits my needs but may not be the right gate for some folks. As far as the ordering & shipping, that all went smoothly & actually got the gate one day earlier than expected.....

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a nice, sturdy baby gate. It’s great for my toddler and our dogs. It was easy to install and use. It’s nice that the gate opens for when I’m in a hurry. I like that it’s tall so the dogs can’t jump over it.

For the price, its a great gate. Its tall, just like we needed. Easy to put up. No screws in the walls. Door width is perfect for me to walk though but everyone else has to turn slightly to completely to the side. We got this for our dog and pet pig so its perfect for us. The dog can't just over it.....yet (she's a boxer) and firs tight enough so the pig can't plow through it like the wooden ones. Wish the door swung both ways. That would be my only complaint. For us its really not that big of a complaint but I can definitely see where it would be an inconvenience to some.

This gate is really nice. Easy to get through (gate enclosure) No more straddeling to climb over a gate. VERY STURDY!!!! I installed just by pressure installation at top of steps for a pet. (can be installed more permanently but this is totally unnecessary, however, for a child I would install permanently for additional safety). Very good product. Would recommend to anyone who doesn't want the inconvenience of a gate to hinder their entrance/exit into an area.
