Good unit for the cost, size, and dBs.

We bought this unit to use with our restored vintage camper. Especially for campsites with no electricity. I researched many units, where I considered the size, the decibels, cost, and customer reviews. I was surprised to find that this unit had one of the lowest dB on the market (even acknowledging that the dB increases with the load). Hopefully the unit will holdup to the reviews. The unit came with oil (equal to what is needed in unit), came with a screw-in funnel to make oil filling more convenient, the digital display is very nice, where the numbers are easy to read. Disappointed that it does not give the kilowatt output. We have not tested it under a heavy extended load, but connected to our small camper and we were able to run a small fridge (with a small freezer) and a microwave (950 watt), along with a couple of fans and lights, where the load was at 75%. We plan to purchase a small AC unit as well. The unit is easy to move around, and did not have to worry about burning your leg on the exhaust. The size and weight is manageable. The unit is more difficult to start when it is warm. We did buy a magnetic oil plug to use initially - based on the reviews of others. It looks like some metal flecks were collected on the plug. Unfortunately, you need to be careful when removing the plug, because oil will run out of the unit if you do not tip it back. The unit ran for 4 hours on less than a half gallon of gas. I will update this review after using it in a real situation.

Ready for the Road

Bought for my camper. This little generator will power the A/C when I decide to camp off the grid. Hooked up to portable A/C from house and it ran perfectly at only 50% power, leaving me plenty of household appliances to run. Vey proud of this little generator. Not only can it be used for tailgating, boon docking, and on the pontoon boat, perfect back up to keep all refridgerators and freezers ice cool when the power goes out. Most small generators only have 15A recepticles, this one has 20A recepticles which will allow you to operate so much more. Great Choice for a generator!

Neutral Bonding Plug Required for Gas Furnace

SCROLL DOWN FOR TIP FOR USE WITH GAS FURNACES I bought this as a backup for my house during ice storms, which happen all too often in Oklahoma City. In 2020 I got to test it out while we were without power for 13 days. Not a fun experience, but a great test for the generator! The generator performed flawlessly. It started up easily, ran great and was able to power the gas furnace, refrigerator, television, internet router and a couple of other electronics. In fact, with all of those things running it still had more capacity! :: GAS FURNACE TIP :: Here's the important tweak I had to make. At first, the furnace would not run at all. I opened up the furnace panel and found a blinking LED indicating that there was a grounding problem. I did some research and eventually came across a forum that suggested that little generators like these sometimes need a neutral bonding plug. I watched a YouTube video on how to make a neutral bonding plug with supplies from the hardware store and it was easy to do myself. Once I plugged the neutral bonding plug into the generator, my furnace happily turned on, lit the gas burner and started up the blower, supplying much needed heat to the whole house. Overall, I highly recommend this generator, as long as you go into it knowing you may need the neutral bonding plug.

Just right for my needs

I bought this to power critical loads at my house in case of an extended power outage. After the initial break-in procedures I backfed the generator power into my house breaker panel and selectively closed breakers to power up the essential loads. I was able to supply power to the furnace, refrigerator, freezer, sump pump, garage door opener, and living area lights and outlets simultaneously. It looks like to run the Microwave I will have to make sure some of the bigger loads, like the refrigerator and freezer are not running at the same time. The power is 'clean' enough that the sensitive electronic components of the furnace controls, the television, and the computer modem worked perfectly. The generator starts easy and runs smoothly. It has just the right power output capability to do what I need. The smaller 2200 unit was just a little underpowered and a larger unit was overkill for me. The digital display is a feature I really like. It is nice to know the actual voltage and watt output. I suppose in an extended period of use the remaining run time and fuel level will also be helpful. Total run time will be useful for keeping a good maintenance schedule. The sound level is low enough that it is barely noticeable from inside the house. The neighbors may not even know it is running. I tried to check decibel levels but I am not sure how much was generator noise and how much was normal ambient noise. It seems that with birds, wind, traffic, etc. I have about 60 decibels of constant sound outside. With the generator running the decibel level increased to 85-90 decibels. I don't have any long term experience with this unit yet but so far it seems like it is just what i hoped for emergency use.

Quiet, lightweight, and easy

I bought this a week and a half ago. Took it out to test and it worked perfectly. It’s mind blowing how quiet it is compared to our old generator. I also love that it’s compact and light weight. I am prepared and ready for the next power outage on the Gulf Coast.

Well built unit and nice features

I just bought this and I put in the oil and it fired right up. It is nice and quiet. I am very pleased as of now. I figured I would rate the product right away so I can get my free cover to protect my investment. I like the digital gauges. FYI, they do not automatically rotate though. You need to toggle through them with a little black button to the lower right of the display. There is no mention of this in the instructions. As of now, it appears to be a great unit. I would recommend the unit

As advertised: easy start, quiet, highly recommend

Clear instructions, easy pull, started first time. Very quiet, looks great, easy to move. I have run it only a few hours to check it out, very pleased. One problem, however is the LED data center. I filled with gasoline, but it only showed 0.9 liters, and a little over 3 hours of run time left. I ran the time down to zero and it didn't affect the operation. Maybe a float is stuck and will eventually release. The fuel remaining stayed at 0.9L. I assume when I get to 0.9L, this value will begin to drop. I will still have a warning. Not a big enough problem for me to lose faith in this machine. Would highly recommend it

Has the power to do what you need where you need it!

I bought this inverter to power my camp trailer and charge batteries. This has enough power to run my AC unit on my trailer. Quiet running (actually I thought it would be quieter) but when you walk 10 feet away you kinda forget its running. Easy to start and operate. Very fuel efficient, I ran on encono mode most of the summer.

I finally have one!

I reviewed and studied "every" portable lower wattage generator/inverter sold in the US! And on paper, features, capabilities, price and, of course, as always comparing to Honda 2000 and Yahama 2000, the Westinghouse Igen2500 scored the best! On price it beats almost everybody, but I would have paid the same as the "BIG2". Why?...........the running wattage is 2200....I need 1800....that means I will almost always (except on surges) be running well below max saving fuel with less NOISE! I am one of those oldies that appreciates and welcomes technology that actually works for you! The diagnostics display is digitally fantastic.......watts, fuel time to run, fuel level, and volts (sadly missing amps) right there all the time (checked them against interactive power meter). Only one offers similar and some dabble alittle., but not the BIG2 at all. 98cc keeps fuel and noise level down and under 50 lbs just like the BIG2. Since noise levels are mostly subjective even when measuring with DB meter, it seems to be mostly a tie with the edge going to BIG2 according to tests run on Youtube not the manufacturers. That's why I built a 2- sided roofed baffle box to steer the noise away. All the controls are upfront and fully visable like on all the better units. All the internals....oil, gas drain, air filter and spark plug are very accessible and visable....check any of the competition for this convenience! Offering a 3 yr warranty and lifetime tech support is above average than most, though I am hoping I'll never find out if either are any good! Do your homework and pick one that's best for you! jimg

The iGen2500 runs as advertised

I bought the iGen2500 generator in August 2021 for power backup during hurricanes and the occasional cold snap! I followed the instructions in the User Manual and the engine fired up on the second pull. After a warmup, I tested several different loads (refrigerator, freezer, drill, fans or small space heater) one at a time. The iGen2500 tested perfectly! Following the recommended break-in, I changed the oil (now using 10W-30 full synthetic) and put a heavier load (refrigerator and freezer) on the generator. With ECO MODE turned “on” the generator handled this load just fine.
