Works Fine So Far

Dual fuel, like the propane power feature. After hooking up propane, you need to pull the cord about a half dozen times to feed the propane and then it starts right up. Seems to be a solid unit. I am in a historically risky hurricane area so I did research for a good generator with positive reviews before purchasing.

Perfect Size and ready to use

First time having a generator. Living in SC it is not often that we lose power due to storms but when we do, primarily due to ice storms, it could be up to 2 days before the snow/ice melts. The generator is compact but the feature I like the most is the ability to use either gas or propane. The unit is compact and very easy to operate. With a peak of 6400 watts, and normal running power of 5300 watts, there is enough power to go around for the essentials in times of need.

Seems Good Overall

Bout this a month ago, product was shipped to my house. Product box was heavy, so heavy in fact that the postal delivery service just chunked it in the driveway. Despite damage to the box, the generator itself was pretty sturdy, and unpacking proved that no real damage to the unit occurred. I added fuel to it, started it up per instruction and it was humming in no time. Tested the poweroutput which was stable and what I bargained for. Haven't tried the propane feature, but it comes with the hook up for it, so pretty much all you need is the tank of propane. It uses normal 4 cycle 10W30 oil, a whole can of it. It looks well built and sturdy, has a handle for ease of use to tote around. My only complaint is it does not have a GFCI switch on the 120V plugs, this would have been an added selling point for this model and would have been icing on the cake. Sadly, only other way more expensive models had them, so boo. Other than that it seems to be working as intended.

Good so far

Started right up. The ability to use propane or gasoline is really awesome. I have not had to use it yet for emergencies but don't doubt it will work as expected. Only thing that seems sub-par is the oil plug. It has already cross threaded and not sure why it is not a stronger piece of plastic. I will likely try and get another one, perhaps one that is a bit stronger. That is minor though.

Great Generator!

This is a purchase that we are grateful for! We were able to use this generator recently during the freeze in Texas and it worked very well. It did well on gas and helped us heat our home and stay connected. I would highly recommend this generator for any household!

WGen5300DFcv

I bought this generator after Hurricane Helen swept through my local Sam’s Club. For a novice, it was easy to function, maintain and it AMAZINGLY provided electricity for the house up to 12 hours per gas refill!!!! I am very grateful for this much needed resource!!!

Got a defective generator

I did a lot of research before purchasing the generator, and I purchased a Westinghouse generator because of all the great reviews. The assembly was easy, the instructions were ok, the generator turned on fine. However, the meter did not turn on and when I plug the generator with my home, it did not generate any power. I called customer support, and I was told a technician would call me back but it may not happen before 2 weeks as they are busy to support other customers due to a hurricane in east coast. Now I have to drive 23 miles, 40 mins to take it to a service center.

Dependable and Easy to Transport

With all the hurricanes and uncertainty going on, I decided to buy a generator for personal use in case of a power outage. Wow! This generator has everything you need to power various electronics and appliances through an emergency. If you are in the market for a generator then look no further than the Westinghouse WGen5300DFV.

Great Product

This is the first time that I have purchased a generator. I have done a lot of research and decided to go with the Westinghouse Dual fuel. I purchased it about a month ago and have not had the chance to use it. But I already love all the features and it really is well made. I will update review once I am able to use it.

Inspect before use!

So right out of the box I have a gas fuel leak coming from the gas shut off valve. I'm not upset, but hope other owners will inspect their units before using full time. If left unattended this leak could have caused a fire. I'll be reaching out to the manufacturer for a replacement. On a more positive note. The generator fired up first pull with no issues and ran for a while until I found the leak.
