Great mix of features for emergency use

I bought this unit 8 wks ago and am very pleased with its performance! No problems noted. Engine runs well, and no problems with the electrical equipment. Reasonable size and weight, and a good mix of features for emergency use. I was specifically looking for 240 vac (for well) and also for manual starting (pull rope only) as i did not want to depend on a battery operated starter on a machine that i was going to need if the electrical power was out !). this generator has no battery at all. The capability to use dual-fuel (gasoline or propane) is a desirable feature which i did not expect to be able to find at this price point. very happy about that.

Great unit, with a couple of setup issues

Purchases dual fuel unit to replace an older generator. When putting the unit together, the wheels went on very easily. The two feet however had issues with the bolt that was welded onto the frame being misaligned with the holes on the feet. I wound up using a smaller bolt that would fit through without threading on one of the bolts. The second issue I came across was starting the unit for the first time using propane. I followed the detailed setup information but The unit would not start and the data center display would not illuminate. Hey call to support resolved botilluminateery quickly. The unit runs very well and will power virtually my entire house and appliances.

Excellent for the price

Outstanding generator, easy to use has dual fuel capability and very easy to use. In addition I like the simple additions/features such as the electrical plug dust covers and the lift handle. The price is right!!! I needed this generator in Feb. 2021 when we here in Texas had that snow storm that knocked out power for 3 days...I'm ready this year...

GREAT EXPECTATIONS!!!

I bought this two weeks ago and so far, I'm very pleased with how clear and concise the directions were for installing the wheels and that the tools required were included in the packaging. Although I am not looking forward to another weather event like Beryl, I do feel certain that I will be able to have electricity in my home should we lose power again.

WGen5300DFv E-Z Set Up & E-Z Startup on Propane

I wanted a dual fuel generator based on recent problems with the electric grid in Texas. I found this Sammy's Clubs exclusive model to be my best option after doing some research. Since this is a sales tax free weekend on emergency supplies I made the purchase online and it was ready early for pickup. The generator is heavy in the box but two people can easily lift it in and out of a SUV or Pickup bed. The box is just a regular box and is not designed for easy extraction of the generator. Here's what I did to make extraction and adding the feet and wheels a little easier. I flipped the box upside down and opened it up Then I removed the separate box that contains the wheels and feet. There is a tool kit to tighten the bolts for the feet. I had to cut down the corners of the box to install the wheels. After all that it was easy to slowly tilt the box/generator right onto its wheels and feet. This process seemed to be way easier than lifting the generator out of the box and then needing to find a way to lift it up to attach the feet / wheels would have been. Moving the unit around is easy enough. My wife is able to move it easily. The handle is padded and folds away. The wheels roll good on concrete and hard ground. I intend to use propane exclusively with this generator unless I run out or have an extended power outage, so I hooked up the included propane line to my extra grill tank. The tool kit does NOT include a wrench that is large enough to tighten the propane connection on the generator. You will need a 19mm or 3/4 inch or large enough adjustable wrench to ensure a tight enough connection. After setting everything up correctly for a propane start up, I pulled the recoil start cord and the motor was running before I finished the pull. That made me very happy. The ambient temperature was 75 F so I switched the choke off nearly immediately. I let it run for 1 hour of break in. It was quieter than I expected, but still loud. Tomorrow I will fire it up again and try running it with a load. I feel it will work out just fine for our needs based one a perfect setup experience. Not sure if I will be able to update this as things go along, but I will if I can. I'll also be posting a review on the Sammy's Club site too.

Just what I was looking for!

I have been shopping for a generator for my RV for a while. This one hit the mark. I like that it is a Westinghouse which is a very reliable brand. I like the wheels. And I especially like that it is dual fuel at a very good price. I look forward to using it.

Great for power loss.

I bought this today after we lost power yesterday during a wind storm and was told that it could be many days without power. We don’t need much plugged in but this works well in a bind. Have extension cords running through a ground floor window and items plugged in from there. Really helps that the fridge will stay running.

I'm very pleased with this purchase

I've never owned a generator so I can't say how it compares to others out there, but I can say it was by far the best deal for a dual fuel generator. It was a much better price than generators that provided much less power. It was easy to assemble the wheels. It's very well built and easy to use. Would definitely purchase this brand again. Highly recommend.

Worked great OTB for 2021 Texas Snowmagedon!

I bought this little generator for for a couple of reasons. 1. we camp a lot and are looking to get a small camper. We can use this travel trailer ready unit for both camper and primitive style set ups for any of our power needs. 2. As seen on tv, we in Texas were being warned of snow and very low temperatures for a long period of time, resulting in scheduled power roll outs and the possibility of losing power for days. This generator was put to use almost immediately. It comes with everything you need to start it up, just need gas or propane. Being a dual fuel is another feature that made my choice easier from other brands. I followed the start up instructions, let run for 1 hour before pulling a load and began using it our first day of power outage. We stayed warm, entertained and with warm meals. It is a little louder than I expected but it rocked and rolled providing us more than what we needed to make it through the storm. It’s a little heavy and awkward with a full tank of gas, and the plastic non rubber wheels, but it is def manageable. And easy enough to operate, my wife and kids could start it up when needed on the days I was at work. Also, I ended up picking this thing up while in my car and I was still able to get it in the back seat. As mentioned, it’s a little on the heavy side and I should have had help, but it will fit in a 2020 Subaru WRX back seat with a little hope and determination. I do feel I would like to have gotten one a little smaller, but I think this generator will be a great addition to our family.

Defective new unit. Took 2 months to get resolved.

My brand new unit never started. Called tech support and after some going back and forth, they had us bring to a local shop. The shop could not get it fixed after getting 3 different parts from Westinghouse. Westinghouse then sent a new unit which arrived completed damaged and had to get returned. We finally have a new unit 2 months after initial purchase. It works on gas so far. We haven't tried the propane functionality yet. There is instruction that comes with the unit telling you to call technical support instead of returning to the store if there are any problems with the new unit. In our case, it would have saved us a lot of time and Westinghouse a lot of money (they were out the shop fee and 2 additional generators) if we just returned it to the store and bought a new one. All in all, we spent hours between calling Westinghouse, calling the shop, and travel to and from the shop. I contacted Westinghouse about any compensation for the inconvenience and have not heard back.
