Dual fuel what's not to love

I really like to versatility of dual fuel. The generator started right up after I hooked up the LP gas. With the built in regulator it makes it so easy to use LP gas instead of gasoline. You do lose a little capacity but with the clean burning LP it's worth it. The ability to run gasoline is great as well in case you can't get LP. The only really downside is filling the crankcase, the fill tube is about 2" short but hopefully I wont have to do it often.

Love the dual fuel

Startup out of the box was less than 20 minutes including bolting on the feet and wheels. Started on propane on the 4th pull and ran an air compressor and skillsaw no problem. Only negatives which are minor, is there was some scuffing of the paint from handling and rubbing inside the box and part of the label on the fuel cap was worn off and missing.

Sturdy little Lifesaver!

Me and hubs are bracing for this hurricane 🌀 Idalia to come towards us on the Gulf Coast. I love how sturdy this is. I also love the price on this bad boy. We're not wishing to lose power, but you me and everybody knows when you lose power for days, sweating your bum off, burning out the candles, boredom after an hour with your crazy family. Lol no coffee, and last but not least, trying to lock in the cool air in the fridge 😎. Yea. stoked to have this generator with the free cover

So far, so good

I received the unit and inspected all around and found an air cover clip broken off. There were some slight bends in the frame, but nothing to keep it from operating. I filled the generator with oil and gas and ran the 1 hour break-in and then plugged in a space heater that put a load on and no problems. I plan to store it until I have the house wired to accept generator power and that will be the test.

Runs well, good price

Bought as back-up power being I live in hurricane country. I did my homework and decided on this generator. It started right up and runs very quietly for a generator of this size. I'm getting my house wired today so I can plug it in and not have to run wires. The ability to connect my house to the generator was a key factor in making the purchase as well. Also, the fact that it can run on propane is a plus.

Well laid out control panel and other controls

I purchased this generator after my previous generator was destroyed during Hurricane Ian. It was easy to assemble the wheels and foot-rests and after that it was simply a matter of adding oil and fuel. Starting the unit required only two pulls and it fired right up. I liked the layout of the controls making it easy to set it up to power household items during power blackouts.

5300 Generator

The Price tag on this Generator can't be beat. It has a handle and wheels for ease and portability. I really like that it is a duel fuel system... just remember basic Electricity... the max output is never going to be achieved given the Breaker and Voltage... Besides some paint and scratches which is an easy fix.. everything looks good so far.!

Easy to Operate

I carefully followed the instructions to set up the generator to operate on gasoline. The instructions are easy to follow and contained all I needed to know. It fired up right away and started producing electrical power after letting it run for a few minutes.

Easy to set up. Runs smooth and quiet.

I bought the generator after we had the winter storm in Austin Tx. We were without power, heat and water for over 6 days. I searched for a quality generator at an affordable price and everything kept steering me back to the Westinghouse. Very pleased with my purchase.

Well designed and assembled

I needed a dual fuel generator and after doing some research I found the 5300DFv. My use is the rare occasion during storm season. I have an 1,800 square foot house and I like to run most of it during outages. Having the dual fuel option enables me to use propane which means I don't have to deal with gasoline storage. I didn't buy a generator for years because I couldn't get past dealing with the gasoline logistics (I'll probably never need it now that I have it :-)) The initial investment in 20 lb tanks is higher but I'll have them forever and the propane won't go bad like gasoline. Yes I can use gas stabilizer but it will only last so long. Inevitably it will go bad. I suspect it will be easier to exchange or refill the tanks with propane during a hurricane event than waiting on line for gas. Propane exhaust stinks less than gasoline and there's much less risk of fire with propane vs gasoline. That said, if I were to use the generator on a regular basis, I would definitely use the gasoline option as it is a more cost effective fuel and I would use it up as needed. I did the break in process and it's not that loud compared to others I've heard in the neighborhood. Should have enough power to handle my house with periodic running of my central air to keep the humidity in check. Really happy with the purchase.
