I recently purchased a new grill and when I did bought a bag of your Matchlight charcoal. The 1st night we go to use the grill I spent almost an hour trying to get the charcoal to light. I even place paper under the pile when the lighter got to hot to hold and still it would not lite. I had to go to the store and buy lighter fluid, that I have no place to safely store, to get the charcoal to finally light. I was very disappointed in your product.

I generally use the original Kingsford briquettes, that require fluid. I've NEVER had a problem with the original, and love it. Just last night, I decided to barbeque a rack of ribs, and a pack of chicken thighs. My mouth was drooling at the thought of this dinner. Come to find out I needed more charcoal. Ran out & Tried the match light for the first time. I will say that it did light, without any problem, so that was convenient and why I gave it 2 stars.. The smell of the fluid was rather strong, upon opening the bag, but it kind of made sense if it doesn't require fluid, right? Right. So, I carried on. Lit the grill and waited a good 25 mins until the charcoal was coated over with ash, and I felt like any fluid would be burned off! Wrong! My entire dinner was sadly ruined. Everything tasted like fluid, despite waiting. I've always turned to Kingsford, and had high hopes for the match light experience. Unfortunately after this experience, I can't say I'll ever try it again. Literally wasted a whole rack of ribs, pack of chicken thighs, and I have about half a bag of the match light left, that I don't see me using again. I'm sorry to be this person, but I have to keep it real.

I normally buy this brand and have been happy. The last 2 times I purchased was not so good. 1st time had to dump the grill and add more charcoal as it was having trouble lighting and staying lit. The last bag I purchased did not light at all. I had to go to 2 stores on July 4 to purchase additional charcoal to be able to cook for my family. I'm not sure whats going on or if the formula has change but you need to go back to the old way.

I was so disappointed with this product that I felt compelled to write a review ( something I've never done before). After lighting the coals & waiting for 30 minutes before the flames finally died out, I put on a beer can chicken ( which usually takes an1 1/2 hours over med. heat ) , coals never really generated any heat, took over 3hrs cooking time, had to add more coals & use almost a full 12.5 lb bag of coals to cook 1 3-4 lb chicken...wish I would have kept the receipt because I would have bagged the ashes with the remaining coals & RETURNED THEM!!!!

I love the quickness of starting these! My husband is a caveman and must grill year round. I bought him these to reduce the amount of complaining about being out in the cold. He is pretty set in his ways and kicked about not using the traditional, but once he started them and was quickly cooking he still complained because they were not traditional!!! Then we ate.... He said, "They made traditional better". Now he is hooked!

I was hosting a tailgate party at a New York Islanders game and used Kingsford Match Light charcoal. My #1 choice for charcoal when on the road! It's fast lighting and long burning characteristics are the reasons that I always choose Kingsford Match Light charcoal!!

I had written an earlier review prior to trying this product. I was responding to others negative comments and voicing worry that I made the wrong purchase. That being said I used the match light for my first grilling last night. All was well. It lit easily. The steaks tasted great. I would purchase match light again.

Bought two bags to take on vacation. Used within three days of purchase. Neither bag would even try to light. I had to go to the store and buy lighter fluid. Match light is false advertising. I can't believe all the reviews that say they had the same experience - wouldn't light.

I buy this brand all the time, and have never had a problem. I don't normally make gripes, but I just bought a large bag of Match Light Charcoal, opened it and the very first pour will not light. Normally, I would recommend this product, and probably will do so in the future, but I am very disappointed with the latest results.

I purchased this product for ease of use so that my wife could barbeque easily while I was a way from the campground, working. I passed on the store brand match light for quality assurance. The Kingsford Match light would not light. It took tinder and kindling to get the charcoals going. So much for ease of use.
