This has been our choice in Charcoal for years! The "other" "cheap" kinds make the food taste weird so we stick with Kingsford Match Lite! I saw other posts about some of you not being able to get yours to stay lit or getting it to lite, my suggestion is change your place of purchase. I too have bought a couple bags before from little stores where the bags have sat and sat on their shelves. If it's been there too long, chances are the chemicals which helps it lite and stay lit have evaporated, or there is a tiny tear in the bag which let the chemicals evaporate. I will NEVER own a gas grill because you just can't get that same grill taste with gas! However, I would like to see coupons available to loyal customers like myself available to us on the Kingsford website. Would be a great gift considering we buy 30+ bags during the spring and summer!

This is the worst charcoal product I have ever used. Had I known that I would need lighter fluid to light these anyway, I would have just bought regular charcoal. These coals do NOT light easily at all. We've tried newspaper, cardboard, matches, almost everything else short of pouring lighter fluid all over it, and nothing seems to work very effectively. We've been trying for over 30 minutes just to get the coals to LIGHT, let alone heat up enough to cook on. The one time we were successful in getting them to light, it took over an hour and 15 minutes to heat up appropriately. I will NEVER buy this product again, and I would not recommend that anybody else waste their money on it either.

I bought Kingsford Match Light. I would not buy this product again. No matter how many times I try to light it, I am unable to light. What a shame that it does not work. I have had three meals put off because of it. Guess I will have to purchase lighter fluid so that I am able to grill out.

I have used Kingsford for all of my adult life but the last year or so I have noticed that the brickets are not lighting like they use to. This includes the one I am reviewing now the MatchLight. I have had to use lighter fluid and in fact it isn't working as well as in the past . WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOUR PRODUCT!!!! I know I won't receive an answer but just thought I would send in a review!!!

We used a small amount once for Smores and they worked fine. Then when I was having people over on a Sunday evening for steak, THEY WON'T LIGHT. HAVING TO START WITH NEWSPAPER. EPIC FAIL. VERY EXPENSIVE. If I knew I needed lighter fluid I would have gotten some, but it's Sunday night and I have people over so I can't!

I bought a bag of Match Light to take a baseball game to tailgate beforehand. We could not get the coals to light. We even tried burning part of the bag to ignite the coals. Still didn’t work. We ended up eating the overpriced food in the ballpark spending about $150 rather than the good food we brought.

We purchased Kingsford Match Light Charcoal because there were no regular Kingsford Charcoal available. We used this charcoal for a Sunday night grill out. We noticed a STRONG smell of lighter fluid when my husband put them in the grill. This awful smell filled our house as well. We hoped when it was lite that the smell would subside. After the charcoal was ready to grill our chicken, we finished up with the other side dishes. We sat down to eat and we both ate a few bites realizing the taste of the lighter fluid was so strong on the chicken we could not eat it and I also had stomach issues the last two days. We not only felt sick to our stomachs but we lost 2 lbs. of chicken as well. I am very disappointed with Kingsford Match Light Charcoal and would never purchase this again. If we could have selected a rating lower than poor, we would have! Sincerely, Jenny & Bill

I had picked up a bag in the local grocery for a small gathering I was responsible for cooking the charcoal would not light I had to go get a bottle of lighter fluid and use about half of it to get the charcoal to burn. I have used your product in the past not sure why this product failed and unfortunately I burned the bag trying to get it lit I was agitated and didn't think to get the UPC code. I'm sure I will use it again but I just wanted to let you know of my dissatisfaction.

This charcoal lights almost instantly. No need for lighter fluid, or balls of newspaper. Just hit a briquettes with a match and it takes right off. It doesn't take long for them to turn white and start cooking either. I am very impressed with this charcoal and love that smoky flavor propane can never match.

Just tried this product out today, I’m pretty peculiar about the charcoal I buy but decided to try this one out of convenience. Now I can’t say it didn’t work, it lighted instantly and I was happy that my food cooked fast, although the after taste wasn’t what I was expecting. It basically tasted like charcoal mixed with lighter fluid. Obviously while grilling you’re always gonna get that great smokey taste but I wasn’t expecting the aftertaste being like that. Could have been a lot better and made my food a little hard to eat.
